Sisters in the Deep Forest Valley: Many Fun Things

Chapter 55 Hunting, Encountering a Tiger

The two heard the sound of a babbling brook. They looked around but found nothing, so they continued on their way.

An hour has passed...

Another half hour passed...

They hunted two pheasants and a roe deer, but didn't even see a footprint of the larger wild animals.

The scorching sunlight pierced through the dense forest, causing large beads of sweat to gradually appear on Lin Chunyi and Lin Lanshan's foreheads.

The scorching heat in the air made their breathing unsteady, and their footsteps heavy.

And they haven't reaped any rewards yet.

Lin Lanshan was already showing signs of agitation, and she grabbed her sister's arm and stopped in her tracks.

"Sister, don't go any further. Let's find a place to rest for a while. It's so hot today, and I feel a ringing in my ears."

Continuing like this will only affect our condition; we might not even notice if we're ambushed.

"Yeah, I was also looking for a place to sit down for a while."

The two walked to the stream, where there were only a few trees around. The view was open, so there was no need to worry about being attacked.

They found the biggest tree and sat down right under it, without even taking their baskets off.

Lin Lanshan gulped down a big mouthful of mung bean soup. "Phew, I'm alive again!"

Lin Chunyi also took a few sips, then wiped the sweat from her forehead and said:

"We've walked for so long and haven't even found a single animal dropping. What's going on? We're almost at the cliff edge. We might have to go back empty-handed today."

"Sis, we didn't go home empty-handed, at least we got some pheasants and deer..."

"It won't fetch much money, at most it'll just give us a few more meals of meat."

Lin Lanshan craned her neck to look at the woods in front of her, then looked up at the sun in the sky.

It was just past noon, when the sun was at its strongest.

"Sis, let's grab something to eat before we talk. It's still early, we'll definitely make something of it!"

The two took out a few chive dumplings and ate them, then drank a few sips of cold mung bean soup.

"Sis, I suddenly have an idea, it might be a bit risky, but it's definitely faster than us searching blindly."

Lin Chunyi asked in confusion:

"What method do you suggest? We've already put two such large human baits standing here; how much more risk can it take?"

"You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub. Let's take a pheasant, cut its throat, and then carry it on. That's the way..."

The smell of fresh blood will surely attract wild animals!

But whether it attracts big or small, one or a group, is uncertain!

It was definitely much riskier than using those two living baits.

Lin Chunyi pursed her lips tightly, frowned, and pondered for a moment before saying:

"This method is indeed too risky..."

He gritted his teeth and said again:

"Alright, let's try again another day. If we still don't find anything, then we'll use your method!"

Lin Lanshan nodded in agreement.

If it weren't for the hot weather, we wouldn't have seen a single wild animal after searching for so long.

She didn't want to resort to such a dangerous method.

A gentle breeze stirred up the cool stream water, which helped to alleviate some of the heat they felt.

Having filled his stomach, he leaned against a tree and dozed off for a while.

Fifteen minutes later, Lin Chunyi and Lin Lanshan stood up full of energy.

"Let's go! Let's keep searching!"

The two sisters walked upstream in the direction the stream came from, and there they came to a thicket of bushes covered with wildflowers and wild fruits.

After passing through the tall bushes, they discovered a large cave!

Outside the cave, a few scattered weeds sprouted on the ground, along with large patches of messy earth that had been trampled countless times.

The two sisters exchanged a glance, seeing surprise and a touch of trepidation in each other's eyes.

Lin Chunyi shook her head, indicating: Let's retreat first.

The two then tiptoed back to a clearing behind a large patch of bushes.

You can also see the location of the cave through the gaps in the grass.

"Sister, the footprints on the ground are too messy, we can't tell what's in them at all, what should we do?" Lin Lanshan whispered.

Such a large cave, and there are such obvious signs of being trampled on outside the cave.

When I got close, I could smell a faint stench.

There must be something big inside! If we manage to get our hands on it, we could make a fortune.

But they didn't even know what was inside, so they couldn't just barge in and look.

What to do now? The two sisters squatted behind the bushes, their faces full of distress.

Lin Chunyi's brows furrowed and relaxed repeatedly.

As she pondered, she observed her surroundings. Suddenly, she remembered the pheasants and deer in their baskets.

Then I remembered what my sister said: "You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub..."

He then whispered in his sister's ear:

“We can use your method now. Cut off the pheasant’s neck and throw it at the entrance of the cave. Maybe the smell of blood will lure out what’s inside.”

Lin Lanshan's eyes lit up, and she nodded in agreement:

“That works! We’re so far away, we can still run if there’s any danger.”

They chose the smallest pheasant from among two pheasants and a roe deer.

The plan is to obtain the greatest benefit at the lowest cost!

Lin Chunyi made a small cut on the pheasant's neck, and before the blood could drip to the ground, she quickly folded the pheasant's neck under its wing.

Blood can't flow here; it'll be dangerous if they smell it.

Then, with all its might, it flung the pheasant to the entrance of the hole.

The pheasant crashed to the ground with a "thud".

Soon after, a pool of red liquid began to flow from under its wing.

The two sisters sat on the ground, slowing their breathing, their eyes fixed on the cave entrance without blinking...

In the vast open space, there was nothing but a dead pheasant.

It was so quiet that even the sound of the wind rustling through the grass was exceptionally clear to their ears.

In less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, a huge creature emerged from the cave.

It has a "王" (king) character formed by three black lines on its forehead, and its robust body is covered with alternating golden and black markings.

With each step it took, its strong and powerful limbs seemed to make the ground tremble.

Both of them gasped for breath, and Lin Lanshan unconsciously tightened her grip on her sister's hand.

Lin Chunyi winced slightly, then gently patted her sister's hand to soothe her nervousness.

It turns out that a two-meter-long tiger lived in this cave!

It first sniffed around in the nearby grass, while the two sisters watched from a distance, holding their breath.

Although they were fairly confident in their martial arts skills, seeing such a colossal creature...

They appeared unobstructed fifty meters away from them, instead of behind a glass window a few centimeters thick.

They were still somewhat flustered.

However, panic does not mean fear, and besides, this tiger is worth at least several hundred taels of silver!

After calming their racing hearts, the two sisters' eyes were filled with the joy of seeing a pile of silver.

The tiger carefully observed its surroundings and, finding no danger, lowered its head, opened its mouth to reveal its sharp teeth, and prepared to bite the pheasant.

"Several hundred taels" is about to run away with their pheasants!

They quickly stood up from behind the bushes, avoiding the flowers, grass, and leaves around them.

With arrows nocked and bows drawn, Lin Chunyi, with superior archery skills, aimed for its eyes, while Lin Lanshan aimed for its neck.

Prepare one person to disable their ability to move and another to kill them.
