Shu Yun was airing her books in the yard when Gou Dan from next door ran up to her at the door. "Sister Xiao Yun, Mom told me to give you this bowl of fried soybeans."

Dog Egg was holding a big bowl of fried soybeans, crunching them loudly in his mouth.

Shu Yun smiled and accepted the pancakes, then gave some of the homemade potato pancakes to Gou Dan and the others. The two families were close, so Gou Dan didn't stand on ceremony. He took one and stuffed it into his mouth, his cheeks bulging, and he didn't forget to praise, "Sister Xiao Yun, it's so delicious!"

How could it not taste good? Shu Yun was willing to use oil, so the pancakes she fried were naturally fragrant and sweet, while Gou Dan's mother, Tian Xiufen, only added a drop of oil each time, so they were naturally not fragrant and crispy enough.

Shu Yun couldn't help but laugh at the way he wolfed down his food. "What, didn't your mom prepare lunch for you?"

"I ate it. Sister Xiaoyun's was delicious. I can eat some more." Actually, the main reason was that Gou Dan's mom would fight with him for food when they got back, so he might as well eat one first to satisfy his craving, so that his mom wouldn't eat it all by herself.

As Gou Dan ate, he saw Shu Yun unfolding the book page by page and curiously came over, exclaiming, "Wow!"

"This is a comic book!" Gou Dan's voice was so excited that he almost spat out the crumbs of food in his mouth, and he quickly stopped.

After a while, she moved closer to Shu Yun and said, "Hey, Sister Xiao Yun, can I borrow your things? I can help you with your chores."

As he spoke, Gou Dan looked around the yard, his eyes lit up, and he picked up a broom leaning against the wall and started sweeping the ground. He patted his chest with great ambition, "From now on, I'll take over all of my sister's land."

Shu Yun was amused by his lifelike appearance. "You little rascal, you're so funny."

Shu Yun took a few comic books that weren't wet from the study. "Take these and read them. You don't need to do any work."

Gou Dan was overjoyed, holding the comic book in both hands. "Sister Xiaoyun, don't worry, I will definitely cherish it and return it in the same condition as before."

Shu Yun bent down and patted Gou Dan's round head, showing her support, "Okay, I believe you."

Dog Egg looked up and glanced at Shu Yun for a moment. Shu Yun thought he was going to say something, but the little guy turned around and left.

Shu Yun didn't pay attention, but soon there was a knock on the door, and Gou Dan handed her a bottle of cooling balm. Shu Yun took it without understanding why.

The small, round tin box is bright red, with a big tiger printed on the lid and the words "Cooling Oil" written in large characters. Even before opening the lid, you can smell a strong cooling aroma.

Dog Egg: "Sister, here you go. You have red spots on your chin, you must have been bitten by big mosquitoes. This will cool you down and the itching will stop soon."

Shu Yun instinctively covered her chin. She had clearly covered the marks on her body in front of the mirror that morning, so how could she have missed them?!

Dog Egg didn't understand Shu Yun's reaction, and he urged, "Sister, hurry up and use it."

Shu Yun's face quickly flushed red, and she forced a smile. "Thank you, Gou Dan. But my sister's family also has cooling balm. Here, take this back."

Dog Egg nodded obediently, then left with the comic book in his arms.

That evening, Gu Jun returned home beaming, wanting to hug his beloved wife, Shu Yun, but was ruthlessly pushed away. Gu Jun was puzzled, but he was shocked when he saw that his bedding had been moved to a small house to the side.

"What? How did my blanket end up here?" Gu Jun picked up his pillow and blanket to put them back in the bedroom, but Shu Yun ruthlessly closed the bedroom door. "You'll sleep outside tonight. Let's sleep in separate rooms!"

Having tasted the sweetness of yesterday, Gu Jun was not about to give up. Shu Yun angrily raised her chin and pointed to the red marks on her body, "Didn't I tell you last night not to leave marks? You promised me that, but look at me now. Luckily I didn't go out today, or I would have been so embarrassed."

Gu Jun: "Xiao Yun, Yunyun."

She lowered her voice and spoke in a pitiful tone, but Shu Yun remained unmoved. "Don't think about it anymore. Go to your room tonight and calm down."

Since getting Shu Yun's comic books, Gou Dan has become much more well-behaved. He no longer goes to play with his friends. Every day, he sits on a small wooden stool in the yard reading, completely absorbed in the books. Tian Xiufen finds this quite strange. To thank Shu Yun, Tian Xiufen specially made a few savory scallion pancakes and gave them to Shu Yun.

A group of annoying kids, who couldn't get Gou Dan to come out after several attempts, came to the door in a noisy commotion. "Gou Dan, what are you doing? Staying at home like a girl."

Upon hearing that cheeky voice, Gou Dan slammed his sketchbook shut and retorted, "Da Mao, I already told you my name isn't Dan Dan, don't call me that."

A boy named Da Mao jumped into the yard first, asking, "Why didn't you call Dan Dan to answer me?"

He put his arm around Gou Dan's neck and said, "I've been back for two days and you haven't come to play with me. I have to come to you. What have you been up to lately?"

Tie Niu, with his sharp eyes, spotted the comic book that Gou Dan had placed neatly on the stool, grabbed it, and exclaimed, "Hey, Gou Dan, where did you get this? 'The Battle Under the Betel Nut Tree,' I haven't read it before, is it a new release?"

Tie Niu used to have quite a few comic books. Back then, almost all the children in the residential compound would come to his house to look at them. However, after Tie Niu gloriously failed his school exam, his comic books were confiscated, and he never had the chance to get new stock.

"It's been a long time since I've looked at this, and I'm quite excited," Tie Niu said, flipping the book open with a loud rustling sound. Gou Dan felt sorry for him and snatched it away, saying, "Be careful, don't break it. This isn't mine; it belongs to Xiao Yun next door. I have to return it after I'm done reading it."

Da Mao asked, "Have you finished watching it?"

Dog Egg nodded, "I've finished reading it, but I'm going to read it again before returning it."

"Sister Xiaoyun has many more at home. She said she can take me to see them all." Gou Dan looked up with a little pride.

Dog Egg's words immediately stirred up a hornet's nest, and he was pushed and shoved by a group of children to knock on Shu Yun's door.

Shu Yun was a little surprised to see a large group of children when she opened the door. Gou Dan was nudged and looked a little embarrassed, his dark face flushed. "Sister Xiao Yun, I'm here to return the book."

Gou Dan returned the comic book. Gou Dan is very trustworthy; he has taken good care of the book these past few days.

Gou Dan: "Well, my friend also wants to come and see the comic books, is that alright, Sister Xiaoyun?" He said this very softly, as if afraid of upsetting Shuyun.

Shu Yun smiled and patted his round head, then opened the door. "Come in, all of you."

With a whoosh, Shu Yun brought out all the chairs in the house so that everyone could sit down. She then took out a full stack of comic books and said, "Go ahead and read them if you want."

"Thank you, sister." The children weren't picky at all. Several of them gathered around and picked up a comic book to read. Shu Yun prepared tea for the children, making it almost like a small reading room.
