A Fantasy Love Story Across the Warring States Period

Chapter 152 The Miraculous Effects of Symbols and New Waves

Wanru's trembling fingers touched the symbols on the disc one by one. With each one activated, the faint light flickered like sparks of hope within the icy, raging stone house. As the last symbol was lit, the scene inside the stone house abruptly changed. The previously rampaging ice spikes noticeably weakened, and their sharp whistling gradually subsided, as if a raging beast had been temporarily tamed. The temperature inside the stone house stopped dropping, and the biting cold that permeated the air seemed to be suppressed by some mysterious force, beginning to slowly dissipate.

Huanmo gripped her sword tightly. Although the wound on her shoulder still throbbed with pain and blood had soaked through her clothes, staining half of her body crimson, her eyes remained fixed on the changes around her. She was secretly on guard: "Is this crisis really over? Or is that mysterious guy playing some new trick?" She dared not relax for a moment, maintaining a defensive posture with a resolute and cautious look in her eyes.

Wanru stood in front of the mural, watching the ice spikes gradually weaken. She felt a mix of relief and worry. "This symbol really worked, but the mastermind behind it won't give up easily. What should we do next?" She pondered as she turned to look at the others, her face still showing the exhaustion and tension of surviving a close call.

Ling'er's face, which had been tense with fear, relaxed a little. She looked at Huanmo's injured shoulder, her eyes filled with heartache: "Sister Huanmo, you're hurt, does it hurt? It's all Ling'er's fault for not protecting herself." As she spoke, crystal tears welled up in her eyes.

Huanmo forced a smile and comforted her, "Ling'er, don't blame yourself. I'm fine. As long as everyone is safe, that's all that matters." But her slightly trembling body betrayed the intense pain from her wounds.

The woman in white gently stroked the guqin, her gaze sweeping across the stone house, trying to sense the mysterious entity's next move. "This mysterious power seems to be waiting for something; we cannot let our guard down," she said softly, her voice echoing in the silent stone house, carrying a hint of coldness and solemnity.

As the ice spikes ceased, a brief silence fell over the stone house, broken only by the heavy breathing of the group and the dripping blood from Huanmo's wounds, all of which sounded exceptionally clear in the quiet. Suddenly, the box on the stone platform, which had been emitting a faint glow, shone brightly, illuminating the entire stone house and forcing everyone to squint. In the light, they seemed to see blurry images, neither entirely human nor entirely object, flickering and shifting in the light, as if telling a long-ago story.

"What secrets are hidden in this box? What do these images mean?" Huanmo murmured to himself, his doubts growing stronger.

Wanru frowned, carefully observing the images, trying to find clues: "These images look so strange. They seem to have some connection with the previous murals and that mysterious voice, but I really can't figure it out for the time being."

Ling'er clutched the book tightly, her big eyes fixed on the images, her heart filled with curiosity: "These shadows seem to be dancing, are they trying to tell us something?"

The woman in white frowned slightly, concentrating her mind to sense the spiritual energy fluctuations within the light: "This light contains powerful and mysterious spiritual energy. These images may be the key to unlocking the secrets of the stone house and even defeating that mysterious being. We must study them carefully."

Just as everyone was focused on the images, the floor of the stone house suddenly began to shake violently, and cracks spread rapidly like a spider web. From the cracks, a plume of black smoke billowed out, carrying a pungent odor, and quickly filled the entire stone house. Enveloped in the smoke, everyone's vision blurred, and they could only vaguely make out each other's figures.

"Cough cough, what is this smoke?" Wanru coughed, covering her mouth and nose with her sleeve, trying to block out the pungent smell.

"Everyone be careful, there's definitely something strange about this smoke!" Huanmo shouted a warning to everyone, while gripping his sword tightly and watching his surroundings warily.

Ling'er gripped Huanmo's sleeve tightly, her voice trembling slightly: "Sister Huanmo, I'm so scared, what's going on?"

The woman in white used her spiritual power to dispel the smoke around her while saying, "This should be another attack from that mysterious being. We must not panic and must maintain our spiritual defense."

However, the black smoke seemed to possess some strange power, constantly eroding everyone's spiritual energy defenses. Huanmo could feel the spiritual energy on her sword gradually dimming, and she was extremely anxious: "This won't do. We have to find a way to break through this smoke and find the weakness of that mysterious entity."

Wanru struggled to discern directions through the smoke and said, "Perhaps we can head towards the stone platform. That box might be the key; maybe we can find a way to break through this smoke."

The group groped their way through the smoke toward the stone platform, each step cautious and apprehensive of any unknown danger. But the black smoke seemed to possess a mind of its own, constantly hindering their progress, with black tentacles occasionally reaching out from it to grab at them.

Huanmo brandished his sword, severing the black tentacles, and shouted, "Everyone, stay close to me! Don't get separated!"

The woman in white began playing the guqin, the music transforming into waves of spiritual energy, attempting to dispel the surrounding smoke and clear a path for everyone. However, the smoke was far too dense, and the effect of the energy waves was minimal.

Just as everyone was struggling forward, a sinister laugh suddenly came from the smoke: "Hahahaha, do you think you can easily break my methods? This is just the beginning. You will all stay here forever!" The voice was even colder than before, full of mockery and malice.

Just how many more tricks does this mysterious entity possess? Can the group find a way out of this eerie black smoke and continue their exploration of the stone house's secrets? And can the box on the stone platform be the key to their escape from this predicament? Everything has once again plunged into the abyss of the unknown, awaiting the group to unravel these mysteries…
