Chapter 147 Flower Trap and Stone House Mystery

The moment they stepped into the flowerbed, the surrounding air seemed to freeze instantly. The air, which had been slightly fragrant, was now mixed with a putrid smell. The colorful flowers trembled violently, and the petals fell like snow. This seemingly beautiful scene made everyone's hearts jump to their throats, as each falling petal seemed to hide a deadly crisis.

Huanmo cautiously surveyed her surroundings, gripping her sword tightly once more. The sword's spiritual energy flickered faintly, illuminating a small area in front of her. She thought to herself, "This flowerbed is definitely not as simple as it seems. Beneath its beauty lies hidden danger. I wonder what tricks these flowers will use against us. I must be extremely vigilant." She took careful steps, cautiously testing the ground beneath her feet with each step, afraid of triggering any traps or mechanisms. Her focused gaze revealed an unwavering determination, despite the deep apprehension she felt towards the unknown dangers.

Wanru followed closely behind Huanmo, her jade flute ready at any moment. His gaze nervously swept over the trembling flowers, fine beads of sweat appearing on his forehead. "These flowers look beautiful, but they have an eerie quality. The vines were troublesome enough before; I wonder what tricky situation we'll encounter this time. I hope we don't get stuck again," he muttered to himself, his breathing becoming rapid. He silently prayed to get through the flowerbed safely, but the growing unease wouldn't dissipate.

Ling'er clutched the book tightly, hiding behind the crowd, her big eyes filled with terror. Looking at the falling petals, she muttered softly, "These flowers look angry. Will they eat people? I'm so scared." Her body trembled slightly, and she hugged the book even tighter, as if it were the last barrier that gave her a sense of security. She hoped everyone could escape danger again as before, but she was also genuinely worried that something even more terrible might happen this time.

The woman in white walked at the back, her fingers lightly resting on the strings of the guqin. She kept a watchful eye on her surroundings while using her keen spiritual senses to probe for anything unusual in the flowerbed. "The spiritual energy fluctuations in this flowerbed are very chaotic; there are definitely many traps or evil creatures hidden there. Everyone stay close together and don't get separated," she softly instructed the group. Her voice was cool, yet carried a reassuring power. However, she herself knew that the situation was far from optimistic; every step could lead to a perilous abyss.

As everyone walked cautiously, suddenly, as if receiving a command, the falling petals gathered together and transformed into colorful butterflies, which swooped towards them. These butterflies appeared beautiful and graceful, but the edges of their wings shimmered with a sharp light, like blades; if one were to be cut by them, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Seeing this, Huanmo shouted, "Watch out!" He then brandished his sword, the blade transforming into beams of spiritual energy to try and block the butterflies' attack. The butterflies collided with the light barriers, making clanging sounds and scattering sparks of spiritual energy. However, their sheer number and relentless onslaught against the group made Huanmo's arms ache and go numb, but he gritted his teeth and persevered, thinking, "I absolutely cannot let these things hurt anyone! I must hold them off!"

Wanru hurriedly blew her jade flute, and her spiritual power transformed into sharp wind blades that shot towards the swarm of butterflies. The wind blades cut into the swarm of butterflies, cutting down many of them, but the butterflies quickly regrouped and continued to attack, giving everyone no chance to catch their breath.

Ling'er closed her eyes and quickly chanted an incantation. Golden light emanated from the scroll, coalescing into a shield that enveloped everyone's heads, providing an extra layer of protection. However, the butterflies seemed to sense the shield's presence and began focusing their attacks on one point. Ling'er felt the pressure of maintaining the shield increasing, her face turning red, yet she still did her utmost to hold it up, silently praying that the danger would pass quickly.

The woman in white plucked the strings of the guqin with lightning speed, producing a stirring melody. Her spiritual energy transformed into beams of white light that surged toward the densest concentration of butterflies. Wherever the light waves touched, the butterflies were shattered, turning into petals that drifted down again. Yet, the butterflies' onslaught showed no sign of abating.

Just as everyone was starting to struggle, the butterflies suddenly changed their attack direction and flew deeper into the flower bushes. Before everyone could even breathe a sigh of relief, the ground beneath their feet began to tremble violently, and cracks spread rapidly. From these cracks emerged many vines, which were different from those at the net bridge. They were covered in sharp thorns, and anyone who got entangled in them would be stabbed and bleed profusely.

Huanmo quickly steadied herself and shouted, "Watch your step, everyone!" She was inwardly groaning. She thought she could catch her breath after dodging the butterfly's attack, but this new crisis was coming one after another. At this moment, she had no time to think and could only swing her sword again to cut off the thorny vines that were reaching towards her.

Wanru stared in horror at the vines sprouting from his feet, dodging them as he cried out, "This place is full of traps! There's no way to survive here!" He jumped around frantically, trying to avoid the vines, but one still grazed his calf, sending a sharp pain through him, and blood flowed down his leg.

Ling'er was so frightened that she burst into tears again. She cried and shouted, "I want to go home! I don't want to be here anymore! It's too scary!" But despite her tears, she still held the book tightly and showed no intention of letting go. After all, she knew that everyone was in danger and she couldn't cause any more trouble.

The woman in white looked solemn as she gazed at the ever-spreading vines. Her fingers plucked the strings of her zither once more, and the music transformed into spiritual energy, temporarily pushing back the vines around them, giving them a moment to catch their breath.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the group ran towards the end of the flowerbed. Finally, after a difficult escape, they arrived at the dilapidated stone house. The walls of the stone house were covered with moss and bore the marks of time, and the roof tiles were incomplete, with several even collapsed, exuding an air of ruin and desolation. The door of the stone house was tightly closed, and strange runes were carved on it. Those runes emitted a faint light, as if telling an ancient story, or as if warning the group not to approach lightly.

Huanmo stepped forward and carefully examined the runes on the door, but she was still completely baffled. She turned to the others and said, "I can't understand these runes, but this stone house must hold some secret. Maybe it's related to leaving this place or the source of the evil spirit's destiny. We have to find a way to go in and take a look."

Wanru clutched her injured calf, frowning as she said, "But this door doesn't look easy to open. We don't know if there's anything even more dangerous waiting for us inside."

Ling'er sobbed, "I'm a little scared to go in. It feels so eerie inside."

The woman in white gently stroked the guqin and said, "No matter what, we've come this far. There's no turning back. We can only go in and find out what's going on."

As she spoke, the woman in white reached out to touch the door. Just as her hand was about to touch it, the runes on the door suddenly shone brightly, and a powerful force surged out from within, sweeping towards everyone. Caught off guard, everyone was forced back by the force and fell to the ground.

What exactly is this force? What secrets and dangers are hidden within the stone house? Will the group be able to successfully enter the stone house and continue their exploration? Everything has fallen into even deeper unknowns and crises...
