Chapter 129 The Mystery of the Jade Pendant and Escape from Chaos

The dreamlike realm had fallen into utter chaos. The surrounding vortexes of light and shadow spun wildly like monstrous beasts ready to devour their prey, emitting howling sounds as if they intended to crush everything in the world into this endless darkness and chaos. A fierce wind rose up, causing everyone's clothes to flutter wildly and their hair to dance wildly in the wind, almost obscuring their vision.

The woman in black robes gripped the jade pendant tightly in her hand, her gaze anxiously searching for any possible chance of survival amidst the ever-changing chaotic scene, her heart filled with trepidation and doubt. "Is this jade pendant truly the Key to Truth? If not, we're truly trapped here to die." Her brows furrowed, her face grave, and she clutched the jade pendant even tighter, as if it were the only lifeline she could grasp, even if its authenticity was still uncertain.

The man in white raised his hand to shield his eyes from the fierce wind, squinting as he surveyed his surroundings, his heart filled with anxiety. He knew the situation was extremely critical; every second of delay brought them closer to danger. "No matter what, let's try to find an exit. Perhaps this jade pendant will come in handy at a crucial moment," he thought to himself. The jade flute in his hand glowed faintly under the infusion of spiritual energy, ready to deal with any potential dangers. However, the beads of sweat constantly appearing on his forehead betrayed his inner tension.

Ling'er clutched the book tightly, her face deathly pale with fear. She hid behind the gray-robed old man, her body trembling uncontrollably. "Grandpa, I'm so scared! Will we be unable to get out?" she asked, her voice weak and choked with sobs, though the fear in her eyes was impossible to hide. As she spoke, she continued to frantically search through the book, hoping to find even the slightest way to escape their predicament.

The old man in the grey robe leaned on his cane, struggling to steady himself. The cane struck the ground heavily, attempting to find balance in this shaky world. Looking at the chaotic scene around him, he felt a pang of helplessness and worry. "I'm old. I thought I'd seen it all, that nothing could stop me, but today I'm trapped in this bizarre place," he sighed softly, his eyes constantly scanning his surroundings warily, determined not to let even the slightest glimmer of hope slip away.

Just as everyone was in a state of panic and confusion, the woman in black robes suddenly noticed that the jade pendant was faintly emitting a soft light in the chaos. Although the light was weak, it seemed to be guiding a certain direction. A thought struck her, and she shouted, "Everyone, look! There seems to be something strange about this jade pendant. Let's try following its light!" With that, she took the lead and quickly walked towards the direction the light was pointing. Her steps were hurried but also showed a hint of determination. At this point, she had no choice but to try anything.

Upon hearing this, everyone hurriedly followed, staying close behind the woman in black robes. Along the way, vortexes of light and shadow constantly surged around them, their powerful suction nearly pulling them in several times. They could only do their best to maintain their balance, supporting each other as they continued forward.

While resisting the vortex's suction, the man in white played his jade flute, his spiritual energy transforming into ropes that wrapped around everyone's waists to strengthen their resistance. He gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, clearly struggling to maintain such a high output of spiritual energy, yet he showed no sign of giving up. "I must hold on, I can't let this all go to waste," he silently encouraged himself.

Ling'er, no longer afraid, clutched the book in one hand and tightly gripped the white-robed man's sleeve with the other, muttering prayers for safety as she moved quickly alongside the others. The gray-robed elder used his cane to release a spiritual shield, protecting the group from any unexpected dangers attacking from behind.

As they walked, the jade pendant's light grew brighter and brighter, and the chaos ahead seemed to gradually change. In the originally pure darkness, some blurry outlines appeared, resembling the shape of a door. However, the door was tightly bound by chains of light and shadow, exuding an indescribable power of confinement.

The woman in black quickened her pace and arrived at the door, carefully examining the chains of light and shadow. "It seems I have to unlock these chains to open this door, but how?" she muttered to herself, reaching out to try and touch the chains, only to be repelled by a powerful force, her arm going numb.

The man in white stepped forward, looking at the flowing spiritual energy patterns on the chains, and said thoughtfully, "These spiritual energy patterns seem to follow a certain pattern, as if they are constructed according to the order of the constellations. Perhaps we should try to decipher them according to the corresponding constellation order."

Upon hearing this, everyone quickly gathered around to study it together. Ling'er swiftly searched the scroll for records about the order of the constellations, and soon pointed to a spot on the scroll, saying, "Found it! This is the order. Let's try it!"

Following the constellation order Ling'er had described, everyone carefully reached out towards the chains of light and shadow, touching the key nodes one by one. Each time a node was touched, the light on the chains would flicker. As the last node was touched, a crisp sound rang out, and the chains of light and shadow slowly loosened, falling to the ground and dissipating into specks of light in the air.

The door slowly opened, and a gentle force flowed out from within, as if beckoning everyone to enter. Overjoyed, they were about to step through the door when suddenly a sinister laugh echoed from behind them, reverberating through the chaotic space and sending chills down their spines.

Everyone turned to look, and saw a dark figure appearing and disappearing in the vortex of light and shadow. Its face was obscured, but it exuded a powerful, malevolent aura. "Trying to leave? Not so easy. Leave the jade pendant behind!" the dark figure said in a low, hoarse voice, carrying an undeniable threat.

The woman in black robes was startled and instinctively hid the jade pendant behind her back. She looked warily at the dark figure and asked loudly, "Who are you? Why are you stopping us?"

The dark figure didn't answer. It flashed and pounced towards the group with incredible speed, arriving in the blink of an eye.

Faced with this sudden and powerful enemy, how will they cope? Will they be able to successfully enter the door and escape this dreamlike realm? And what is the purpose of this mysterious shadowy figure? Everything has fallen into a new crisis and unknown, waiting for them to unravel the mystery…
