Chapter 127 The Realm of Dreams and the Journey to Find the Key

Stepping into that dreamlike realm, everyone felt as if they were drawn into a bizarre vortex. The surrounding light and shadows constantly shifted. One moment it was a vibrant spring scene of blooming flowers and fluttering butterflies, and the next it transformed into a vast ocean with surging waves and towering billows. The deafening roar of the surging waves seemed to threaten to engulf them. But the next moment, everything changed into mysterious mountains shrouded in mist, their peaks appearing and disappearing amidst the clouds, exuding endless etherealness and illusion.

The woman in black robes stood in this dreamlike world, her heart filled with a mixture of awe and wariness. She knew that behind this seemingly beautiful and fantastical scene lay a deadly danger, and the "Key to Truth" spoken of by the ethereal voice would likely be extremely difficult to find. "This place is eerie everywhere; don't be deceived by appearances!" she shouted, her gaze darting between the shifting lights and shadows, trying to glean a clue about the key. But everything before her was like a reflection in water, a flower in a mirror—elusive and unpredictable.

The man in white also wore a solemn expression. He gently stroked the jade flute in his hand, which, under the dreamlike light, seemed to take on an ethereal quality. He knew that in such a strange place, conventional methods would likely be ineffective; he would need meticulous observation and skillful manipulation of spiritual energy to find the crucial key. "I wonder what the pattern of this dream is. If I can figure it out, perhaps I can follow the clues to find the key," he pondered to himself, fine beads of sweat forming on his forehead, but he was oblivious, his entire being focused on exploring his surroundings.

Ling'er clutched the book tightly, her big eyes filled with curiosity and nervousness. She watched the ever-changing scenery around her, sometimes excitedly pointing at the wondrous shifts in light and shadow, sometimes shrinking closer to the man in white out of fear. "Brother, this place is so beautiful, but also so scary! Will we really be able to find the key?" she whispered, a hint of worry in her voice, her hands constantly turning the pages of the book, hoping to find some clue to overcome their current predicament.

The old man in the grey robe, leaning on his cane, slowly strolled through this illusory world. His gaze was deep and serene, as if he were peering through the layers of light and shadow to uncover the truth hidden deep within. "Dreams are beautiful, but ultimately they are illusions. We must calm down and find the flaws in them," he said, gently tapping the seemingly solid yet ethereal ground beneath his feet with his cane. Each tap seemed to be questioning the mysteries of this dream.

As everyone pondered and explored, the surrounding scenery suddenly froze in a tranquil forest. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating dappled golden light that fell on the leaf-strewn ground. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, as if playing a soft melody. A faint fragrance of flowers filled the air; everything seemed so real and beautiful that one could almost forget the danger of being in a dreamlike realm.

The woman in black frowned. She didn't believe this seemingly beautiful scene would appear without reason; there must be some hidden secret. She walked deeper into the forest, her steps light yet cautious, watching her surroundings for any unusual sounds with each step.

The man in white followed behind, his gaze sweeping among the trees and bushes. He noticed tiny runes faintly etched on some of the trees, appearing and disappearing as if playing hide-and-seek. "Look," he whispered, "these runes might be the clues." He quickly stepped forward to examine them closely, trying to decipher their meaning.

Ling'er curiously gathered around, opening the scroll and comparing it with the various ancient runes recorded within, beginning to decipher them. "They seem to be runes related to directions; maybe they're guiding us somewhere," Ling'er said excitedly, her eyes sparkling with hope, her nervousness and fear lessening somewhat.

Upon hearing this, the gray-robed elder nodded slightly and said, "Then let's follow the direction indicated by the runes and see if we can find anything."

Guided by the runes, the group traversed the forest. Along the way, adorable little animals would occasionally dart out of the grass, watching them curiously; at other times, they would encounter crystal-clear streams, their babbling waters reflecting the surrounding beauty. Yet, none of them dared to relax their guard, knowing full well that it was all merely an illusion created by a dream.

As you walk, an old wooden house comes into view. The house is entwined with vines, and there are some tender green moss growing on the roof. A wisp of smoke is rising from the chimney, as if someone is cooking inside, exuding a strong sense of daily life.

The woman in black robes stopped, gripping her sword tightly, a hint of wariness flashing in her eyes. "This wooden house is appearing too suspiciously. Everyone be careful," she whispered, taking the lead as she approached the house.

As they approached the cabin door, preparing to push it open, the door creaked open by itself. A warm atmosphere filled the room, and various seemingly ordinary yet slightly peculiar objects were displayed. On the table in the center of the room sat a box emitting a soft glow, a light that seemed to possess a unique allure, drawing people closer.

"Could the Key to Truth be in the box?" the man in white asked softly, his heart filled with both anticipation and doubt. After all, along the way, every moment that seemed to bring them closer to their goal often concealed an even greater crisis.

The woman in black robes slowly walked into the house and headed towards the box. Just as she reached out to touch the box, the scene inside the house suddenly distorted violently. The originally warm atmosphere instantly turned icy cold, and the seemingly ordinary objects transformed into hideous monsters, baring their fangs and claws as they pounced on the group.

"Oh no, we've fallen into a trap!" the woman in black shouted, quickly drawing her sword to meet the enemy.

Everyone reacted quickly, unleashing their skills to engage in a fierce battle with the suddenly appearing monsters. However, these monsters were numerous and extremely difficult to deal with, and for a time, the group was overwhelmed and caught in a tough fight.

Just as everyone was struggling and starting to feel the strain, the light from the box became even brighter, as if urging them on or hinting at something.

Could this box truly hold the key they've been searching for? And facing the surging monsters, can they break through and continue their search? Everything has plunged into deeper unknowns and dangers, awaiting their unraveling of the mystery…
