A Fantasy Love Story Across the Warring States Period

Chapter 107 Exploring the Secret Passage and the Shadow of the Divine Artifact

The woman in black robes, the man in white, and Ling'er slowly walked along the deep, dark passage. The passage was eerily quiet, with only the faint sound of their footsteps echoing within, as if each step was striking their own hearts, disturbing their already taut nerves.

The woman in black robes walked at the front, her sword slightly raised, ready to face any potential danger. Her gaze warily swept across the path ahead, but the darkness was like thick ink; even the faint light emanating from the scroll in Ling'er's hand could only illuminate a tiny area, leaving the far reaches shrouded in endless darkness, sending chills down her spine. She silently thought to herself, this passage seems peaceful, but who knows what terrifying thing might appear next? She could only hope to reach the end smoothly, find the lost artifact, and unravel these mysteries as soon as possible.

The man in white followed closely behind the woman in black, keeping a close watch on their surroundings while secretly replenishing his spiritual energy. The fierce battle with the mysterious figures had severely depleted his spiritual power, leaving him feeling weak, yet he dared not slacken his efforts. Looking at the endless darkness ahead, his heart was filled with trepidation. Having faced countless life-or-death crises along the way, he instinctively felt a deep sense of awe and apprehension towards this unknown passage. But to find out what was happening, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and continue onward.

Ling'er carefully held the scroll, her eyes fixed on its contents, as if it were their only guide through the darkness. Her expression was focused and serious, completely devoid of her usual liveliness, making her seem both unfamiliar and pitiful. She knew in her heart that this lost artifact was of paramount importance, concerning everyone's fate, so she had to find it no matter what, even if it meant facing mountains of knives and seas of fire.

As they walked, a chill gradually crept into the passage, a chill that seemed to penetrate their clothes and seep into their very bones, causing them to shiver involuntarily. The woman in the black robe frowned, becoming increasingly vigilant. She knew this chill was strange; there must be something unusual about it.

Suddenly, a hissing sound came from ahead, like something crawling on the ground. The sound grew louder and closer, sending chills down their spines. The woman in black quickly stopped and gestured for the two people behind her to stop as well. They held their breath and stared intently in the direction from which the sound was coming.

Soon, in the dim light, they saw several enormous pythons come into view. The pythons were covered in dark brown scales that shimmered with a cold luster in the dim light, and their eyes, like cold, icy stars, shone with a fierce light as they slowly slithered towards them, flicking their long tongues.

"It's these guys again!" the woman in black cursed under her breath, gripping her sword tightly, but she felt uncertain. These pythons looked enormous and there were quite a few of them; dealing with them would be no easy task, especially since their spiritual energy hadn't fully recovered.

Seeing this, the man in white took a deep breath, brought the jade flute to his lips, and gently blew it. Although the spiritual energy waves he blew out were not as strong as usual, they were enough to temporarily intimidate the pythons and slow their advance.

Ling'er looked at the python without any fear in her eyes. With a wave of her small hand, the five-colored light within her surged forth again, shooting towards the python. The python seemed to sense the danger and twisted its body to try to dodge, but several of them were still hit by the light, writhing in pain and emitting low hisses. The sound made the entire passage tremble slightly.

"Now's our chance, let's charge!" the woman in black shouted, seizing the opportunity to charge towards the swarm of pythons. Her sword flashed with power, each strike aimed at the pythons' vital points. The man in white followed closely behind, using spiritual energy to disrupt the pythons while simultaneously assisting the woman in black in her attack.

Ling'er followed behind, using the multicolored light to cover them. In an instant, the spiritual energy and the roars of the python intertwined in the passage, and the battle was extremely fierce.

After a fierce battle, they finally broke through the python's obstruction and continued along the passage. By this time, they were all more or less injured. The woman in black robes had several cuts on her arms from the python's scales, and blood seeped out, staining her sleeves red. The man in white robes was also extremely pale due to excessive consumption of spiritual energy. Although Ling'er was not injured, her focused little face was also full of exhaustion.

But they dared not stop, gritting their teeth and continuing on their way, as if if they stopped, they would be swallowed up by the danger in the darkness once again.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, a glimmer of light gradually appeared ahead of the passage. Although the light was faint, it stood out conspicuously in the darkness, like a lighthouse in the dark, bringing them hope.

"Look! There's light ahead! Maybe that's where the divine artifact is!" Ling'er exclaimed excitedly, quickening her pace towards the light. The woman in black robes and the man in white also perked up and followed suit.

As they drew closer to the light, they finally reached the end of the passage. Before them lay a huge circular space, in the very center of which stood a stone platform. On the platform rested an object radiating a strange light. The light was dazzling and mysterious, making it clear at a glance that it was no ordinary object, and it must be the lost artifact they had been searching for.

However, just as they were about to approach the stone platform, the surrounding space suddenly rippled, and transparent barriers appeared out of thin air, blocking them outside the platform. No matter how they tried, they could not break through the barriers.

"What's going on? We're already here, why can't we get through!" The woman in black robes pounded on the barrier anxiously, her face full of frustration and helplessness. The man in white also frowned, carefully observing the barrier, trying to find a way to break it, but for the time being, he had no clue.

They finally found the lost artifact, only to be blocked by this barrier. How could they break through it and obtain the artifact? And what unknown dangers lurked within this seemingly peaceful space? Everything remained uncertain. Gazing at the artifact, so close yet so far, they were trapped in a deep predicament, waiting to find a way to break free from their predicament…
