Chapter 101 Behind the Stone Wall and the Mysterious Water Realm
The woman in black robes, the man in white, and Ling'er gathered before the stone wall from which the sound of flowing water emanated, their eyes fixed on it, trying to find clues to open it or pass through it. The stone wall looked quite thick, with a somewhat rough surface, and occasionally a few small cracks through which a cool breeze blew, ruffling their hair.
Ling'er tilted her head, her eyes full of curiosity. She reached out and gently tapped the stone wall. The crisp sound echoed in the silent space, but apart from the continuous sound of flowing water, nothing unusual happened. She wondered what was hidden behind the stone wall. Could it really be like her sister said, with many treasures, or perhaps something even more terrifying? As she thought about it, her little hands unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.
The woman in black robes was cautious, knowing full well that in this mysterious place, any seemingly ordinary thing could hide a great danger. She slowly walked along the stone wall, carefully examining every detail, silently pondering. The previous traps and dangers were cleverly designed, and this stone wall probably wouldn't be so easy to breach. But the sound of flowing water was like a hook, drawing them in to explore further.
The man in white also looked solemn. He reached out and slowly channeled his spiritual energy into the stone wall, hoping to detect something through it. The spiritual energy flowed through the stone wall like threads, but it seemed to be caught in a fog. The information returned was vague and unclear. He could only vaguely sense that there was a considerable space behind the stone wall, and that the moisture was extremely dense.
Just when they were at their wits' end, Ling'er suddenly noticed a tile on the ground beside the stone wall that was slightly different in color from the surrounding tiles, displaying a faint bluish-green hue, with some simple yet ancient patterns engraved on it. She squatted down and gently brushed away the dust with her hand, making the patterns even clearer, like some kind of guiding symbol.
"Sisters, come and see this!" Ling'er exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement. The woman in black robes and the man in white quickly came over. Looking at the patterns on the floor tiles, the man in white had a sudden thought. He felt that these patterns might be the key to opening the stone wall. He squatted down and began to study them carefully, trying to slowly inject spiritual energy into the floor tiles according to the direction of the patterns.
As spiritual energy was infused, the patterns on the floor tiles began to shimmer faintly. Then, a rumbling sound came from the stone wall, which slowly cracked open from the middle. The crack widened, and a powerful surge of water vapor rushed out, instantly enveloping them. After the water vapor dissipated slightly, they were able to see the scene behind the stone wall.
Before them lay a vast expanse of water, crystal clear yet shimmering with an unusual blue light, as if the water itself were composed of countless blue gems. Various aquatic plants, unlike anything they had ever seen before, grew in the water, swaying gently with the current, creating a dreamlike scene. In the center of the water stood a small stone platform, upon which rested a box radiating a dazzling light, so bright that it beckoned one to approach and explore its contents.
"What could be inside that box? Could it be the treasure mentioned in the scroll?" Ling'er's eyes were full of anticipation. She couldn't wait to walk towards the stone platform, but was pulled back by the woman in black robes.
The woman in black robes looked at the calm yet mysterious water, a sense of unease creeping into her heart. She said, "Ling'er, don't rush. This water doesn't look simple; we need to be careful." The man in white nodded. He picked up a small pebble and threw it into the water. The moment the pebble hit the water, strange ripples spread across the previously calm surface. Then, several strange-looking fish leaped out of the water, their bodies crackling with electricity. They rushed towards the pebble with incredible speed, crushing it in their jaws. The electricity crackled and sparked in the water for a while before dissipating.
Seeing this, Ling'er covered her mouth in fright, secretly relieved that she hadn't acted rashly. The man in white frowned, pondering how to cross this dangerous body of water to reach the stone platform. He looked around and noticed some strangely shaped stone pillars at the edge of the water's edge, all covered with runes that seemed to be related to the traps they had encountered earlier.
“Perhaps these stone pillars can help us pass safely. I’ll go take a look,” the man in white said, and walked towards the nearest stone pillar. The woman in black and Ling’er followed behind, vigilantly watching their surroundings.
The man in white approached the stone pillar, carefully examining the runes on it. The more he looked, the more profound the mysteries they contained. He tried to infuse his spiritual power into the runes, and instantly, a light shone from the pillar. This light extended outwards, connecting to an adjacent pillar, forming a faint bridge of light that spanned the water.
"I've got an idea! Let's follow this bridge of light; we should be able to get to the stone platform." A hint of joy appeared on the white-robed man's face as he stepped onto the bridge of light first. The black-robed woman, holding Ling'er's hand, followed cautiously behind. With each step, they could feel the bridge of light trembling slightly beneath their feet, as if it might disappear at any moment, making them tremble with fear.
Just as they were about to reach the stone platform, a powerful undercurrent suddenly surged up from the water, violently impacting the light bridge. The bridge began to shake violently, and the light flickered. Ling'er lost her balance and almost fell into the water. The woman in black robes quickly pulled her back, but she herself nearly lost her balance in the process.
"Everyone be careful!" the man in white shouted, trying to steady himself while maintaining the spiritual energy output of the light bridge. However, the power of the undercurrent was too great, and the light bridge was about to collapse completely.
In this critical moment, will they be able to maintain their balance and successfully ascend the stone platform? And what earth-shattering secret does the box radiating brilliant light on that platform hold? Everything remains uncertain; danger and opportunity continue to intertwine, awaiting their journey to overcome difficulties and uncover the mystery…
