A magical journey of a sharp-tongued woman and a goofy man
Chapter 457 The Rise of the Temple
Jiang Ye's words, "Wait for me, I think I've discovered something too..." were still echoing in the air when he had already dashed off like an arrow.
Damn it, there's definitely something wrong with this aura!
Meanwhile, at the central temple.
The once silent and solemn temple now seemed like a giant beast awakening from its slumber, exuding an ancient and mysterious aura.
Rays of light flowed between the palaces, like blood surging through veins, full of vitality.
Ye Shuli stood in the temple square, looking up at the magnificent building, her delicate brows slightly furrowed.
An indescribable energy fluctuation permeated the air, causing the spiritual power within her body to subtly stir restlessly.
"This place...is something else," Ye Shuli murmured to herself. She could sense that this temple was not just a building, but more like a living entity.
"Li'er!"
Jiang Ye's voice came from afar; he rushed to the central temple as quickly as possible.
He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Ye Shuli was safe and sound.
"You sensed it too?" Ye Shuli asked, knowing that Jiang Ye must have also noticed the changes in the temple.
Jiang Ye nodded, and said solemnly, "Hmm, this aura is very strange; it doesn't seem to be the power of this world."
The two exchanged a glance, both seeing the same doubt and wariness in each other's eyes.
"Let's go in and take a look," Ye Shuli said. She had a feeling that the temple was hiding some important secret.
The two walked into the temple side by side, and what came into view was a huge circular hall.
The walls of the hall are carved with countless ancient murals depicting various myths, legends and historical events.
The previously static mechanism now seemed to come alive and began to operate automatically.
The gears meshed, making a "click-clack" sound, and the murals on the wall began to move slowly, like an old movie showing them a long history.
Ancient scenes unfolded before their eyes: the beginning of time, chaos reigned; the war between gods and demons caused the heavens and earth to shatter; civilization arose, and humanity rose to prominence...
Suddenly, the image freezes on a mysterious woman.
She wielded two blades, wore armor, and exuded a heroic and imposing aura.
Her opponent was a figure shrouded in darkness, exuding a suffocating sense of oppression.
God of Destiny!
Ye Shuli was startled; she recognized the dark figure.
In the mural, a mysterious woman is fiercely battling the goddess of fate, each swing of her sword seemingly aimed at breaking the shackles of destiny.
"Who is this woman? She's so fierce!" Jiang Ye couldn't help but complain. It was the first time he had ever seen someone dare to challenge the God of Fate.
"I don't know, but she seems really impressive," Ye Shuli said. She felt a strange sense of familiarity about this mysterious woman.
Just then, Jiang Ye accidentally touched a mechanism in the center of the hall.
"Crack!"
A crisp sound rang out, and the entire temple trembled.
"Oh no, it seems like something has been triggered!" Jiang Ye's expression changed as he sensed a powerful force awakening deep within the temple.
Suddenly, a deep voice echoed in the temple: "The cycle of fate is beyond human control."
The voice was full of majesty and oppression, like a call from ancient times, making people want to submit.
Immediately afterwards, the ground began to shake violently, and cracks spread across the ground.
"Watch out!" Ye Shuli grabbed Jiang Ye, and the two quickly retreated.
"Boom!"
With a loud bang, the ground completely collapsed, and a huge stone tablet rose from the ground.
The stone tablet was entirely black, its surface covered with strange symbols, and it emitted a dim light.
Ye Shuli's gaze was instantly drawn to the symbols on the stone tablet.
She discovered that some of the symbols were remarkably similar to ancient scripts she had studied in modern times.
“These are…” Ye Shuli’s heart stirred. She immediately realized that these symbols might contain important information.
"Li'er, what is this thing?" Jiang Ye asked, as he couldn't understand these strange scribblings.
“I’m not entirely sure either, but it feels very important,” Ye Shuli said, deciding to try to decipher the symbols.
She walked up to the stone tablet and carefully observed the symbols on it.
These symbols are ancient and mysterious, bearing the marks of time.
She channeled her spiritual energy into the stone tablet.
"Buzz!"
The stone tablet emitted a soft hum, and the symbols on it began to flash.
Ye Shuli concentrated her mind, drawing upon all her knowledge of ancient Chinese characters, and began to decipher the symbols one by one.
Time passed second by second, and Ye Shuli was completely absorbed in the decryption work, as if she had entered a state of selflessness.
"I see……"
Suddenly, Ye Shuli let out a gasp, her
"So? What did you figure out?" Jiang Ye asked quickly. He could tell from Ye Shuli's expression that she must have discovered something important.
“This text records a legend about the ‘Key of Destiny’,” Ye Shuli said, her voice trembling slightly.
"Key of Destiny? What's that?" Jiang Ye asked, puzzled.
"It is said to be a bridge connecting multiple worlds and a key to maintaining the balance of fate," Ye Shuli explained. "And the reason I traveled through time is very likely related to this thing."
"What?!" Jiang Ye's eyes widened. He never expected that Ye Shuli's time travel would hide such an astonishing secret.
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out outside the temple.
"What's going on?" Ye Shuli frowned, sensing an ominous aura approaching.
"It sounds like someone is attacking the village!" Jiang Ye said, as he heard the screams of villagers and the roars of monsters in the distance.
"Oh no, we have to go check this out!" Ye Shuli said, knowing the situation was urgent and they couldn't delay any longer.
The two immediately rushed out of the temple and headed towards the village.
The village was in complete disarray, with houses collapsed, flames raging, and a strong stench of blood filling the air.
A group of bizarre puppets are attacking the villagers. These puppets are broken and move stiffly, but they possess great strength.
"What are these things?" Jiang Ye asked, as it was the first time he had ever seen such a monster.
“These are the remains of puppets controlled by the power of fate,” Ye Shuli said. “It seems the god of fate doesn’t want us to have an easy time.”
"Damn it, how dare you touch my villagers? You're asking for death!" Jiang Ye roared, and immediately charged towards the puppet group, engaging in fierce combat.
Ye Shuli was not idle either. She wielded two blades and moved like lightning, weaving through the group of puppets.
Each time she swung her sword, she cleaved a puppet into pieces.
The two worked together and quickly suppressed the puppet horde.
"Thank you, heroes!" The villagers gathered around and said gratefully.
"It's alright, it's what we should do," Ye Shuli said, calming the villagers down and urging them to move to a safe place as soon as possible.
"Looks like we're not only lovers, but also part-time saviors," Jiang Ye joked, looking at the puppet wreckage scattered on the ground and sighing.
"Stop being so cheeky." Ye Shuli rolled her eyes at him, then said, "We must return to the temple as soon as possible and decipher the remaining text."
“Yes, I think so too.” Jiang Ye nodded. He had a vague feeling that there was an even bigger secret hidden in the temple.
The two returned to the temple. Ye Shuli took a deep breath, walked to the stone tablet, and prepared to continue deciphering the remaining text.
“Wait a minute,” Jiang Ye suddenly said, “I have a feeling that there’s something wrong with the symbols on this stone tablet.”
"Something's not right?" Ye Shuli asked.
“I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it feels like something’s missing,” Jiang Ye said, carefully observing the symbols on the stone tablet, trying to find the problem.
Ye Shuli also re-examined the symbols on the stone tablet. She suddenly discovered that there seemed to be some hidden symbols at the bottom of the stone tablet.
"Jiang Ye, could you help me lift the stone tablet a little?" Ye Shuli said.
"Alright!" Without saying a word, Jiang Ye immediately stepped forward and used all his strength to lift the stone tablet.
Ye Shuli squatted down and carefully examined the bottom of the stone tablet.
Sure enough, at the bottom of the stone tablet, she found some symbols that had been covered up.
"These are..." Ye Shuli was startled. She immediately realized that these symbols were the real key.
She channeled her spiritual energy into the bottom of the stone tablet and began to decipher the hidden symbols.
Time passed by, and Ye Shuli devoted herself wholeheartedly to the decryption work.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, and her face grew paler and paler.
"Li'er, are you alright?" Jiang Ye asked with concern. He noticed that Ye Shuli's complexion was off and was worried that she might not be able to hold on.
"I'm fine, almost done," Ye Shuli said, her voice weak.
Suddenly, a dazzling light emanated from the base of the stone tablet, illuminating the entire temple.
Ye Shuli's body also trembled violently, as if it were being torn apart by some powerful force.
"what!"
Ye Shuli let out a painful scream, and her consciousness began to blur.
"Li'er!" Jiang Ye exclaimed. He hurriedly tried to step forward to support Ye Shuli, but was pushed away by a powerful force.
Just then, Ye Shuli finally deciphered the last piece of text...
She suddenly opened her eyes, wanting to tell Jiang Ye what she had discovered, but her throat felt like it was blocked by something, and she couldn't make a sound.
"I..." Ye Shuli opened her mouth, but couldn't say anything.
She reached out, trying to grab Jiang Ye's hand, but her body fell backward uncontrollably.
"Li'er!" Jiang Ye cried out in alarm, rushing forward to catch Ye Shuli.
But it was all too late.
Ye Shuli's body slowly fell to the ground... The moment Ye Shuli fell, Jiang Ye felt his heart stop beating.
Damn it, this joke has gone too far!
He hurriedly picked up Ye Shuli, anxiously calling her name: "Li'er! Li'er! Wake up!"
It was icy cold to the touch, and Ye Shuli's breathing was so faint that it was almost imperceptible.
Jiang Ye was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, frantically channeling his spiritual energy into her body, but to no avail.
"What on earth happened?!" Jiang Ye roared, looking up at the stone tablet that emitted a ghostly light, wishing he could smash it to pieces with a single punch.
Just then, Ye Shuli's eyelids twitched slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
"Jiang Ye..." Her voice was hoarse and weak, like a candle flickering in the wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment.
"I'm here, I'm here! How are you feeling?" Jiang Ye quickly grasped her hand, afraid that she would close her eyes again.
Ye Shuli shook her head and said with difficulty, "I...I deciphered the last text...The Key of Destiny...is in the deepest part of the temple...the Mirror Realm..."
"Mirror Realm? What kind of place is that?" Jiang Ye asked, looking completely bewildered.
“It is…it is a passage connecting various worlds…and also the…end of destiny…” Ye Shuli said intermittently, her face growing paler and her breath becoming weaker.
"Stop talking, you should rest first!" Jiang Ye said with concern. He knew that Ye Shuli must have exhausted a lot of mental energy and needed to rest properly.
Ye Shuli shook her head, insisting, "Entering the Mirror Realm... comes at a price... Someone must... remain in the real world... otherwise... the entire space will... collapse..."
Jiang Ye was stunned upon hearing this.
Damn it, what kind of rubbish setting is this?
Isn't this forcing them to choose between two options?
He looked at Ye Shuli, and he knew that she desperately wanted to find her way home, but she didn't want him to take any risks.
"What if... what if I say I'm not going?" Jiang Ye asked tentatively, not wanting to put Ye Shuli in a difficult position.
Ye Shuli shook her head and said firmly, "No... I must go... It's my destiny..."
"Fate my ass!" Jiang Ye couldn't help but curse. He hated the feeling of being manipulated by fate the most.
He took a deep breath, walked up to Ye Shuli, and said seriously, "If you're going there to find the answer to going home, then I'll go in with you. But if there's danger there... I'll push you out."
He said it with absolute certainty, without the slightest hesitation.
He knew that the Mirror Realm was full of unknown dangers, but he couldn't let Ye Shuli go on the adventure alone.
Ye Shuli's eyes instantly welled up with tears. She nodded vigorously and said, choking back sobs, "Okay... I believe you..."
The two held each other's hands tightly, as if trying to integrate the other into their lives.
They knew they were about to face an unprecedented test, but they believed that as long as they were together, they would be able to overcome all difficulties.
They stood up and walked toward the deepest part of the temple.
There, there is a door that shimmers with a strange light; that is the entrance to the Mirror Realm.
As they drew nearer, the temple's light grew brighter, as if bidding them farewell, or perhaps foreshadowing the fate that awaited them.
The energy fluctuations in the air grew stronger, as if something was about to break free from its cocoon.
Jiang Ye took a deep breath. He could feel his blood boiling and his soul trembling.
He didn't know what was inside the Mirror Realm, but he knew he had to protect Ye Shuli, no matter the cost.
The two walked hand in hand toward the entrance to the Mirror Realm, their figures enveloped in the light of the temple, appearing both resolute and determined.
Just as they were about to step into the Mirror Realm, Jiang Ye suddenly felt a powerful force pulling them away...
They only felt a blur before their eyes, and the scenery around them instantly underwent a dramatic change...
