Chapter 60 A Not-So-Good Start
“I saw your markings,” El said with a serious expression.
He was the most skilled mech pilot in the group, so he naturally became the captain of the mech squad.
The Protoss on the ground raised their heads and gazed into the endless darkness.
Although they couldn't see any movement with the naked eye, their powerful psionic abilities allowed them to clearly sense the mechs gradually approaching.
Unlike the Imperial Army, they did not need to rely on radars scattered across the battlefield to identify the enemy.
With their powerful psychic abilities, they can easily detect the presence of enemies.
“Woyers, with our current forces, I think it will be difficult for us to eliminate the enemy before a single recall.” A surviving Dark Templar approached the Protoss offensive commander.
The commander, named Voyers, wielded a solar-powered battle axe, displaying immense power and authority.
Faced with the situation before him, he fell into deep thought.
Voyles glanced at the Dark Templar. If it were before, he would have unhesitatingly chopped down this heretic who had severed his own nerve bundles with his battle axe.
However, at this moment, he too had lost his neural bundle. For any Aiur Protoss, losing the connection to the Khala is an unspeakable terror.
Through Kara's connection, they can feel each other's hearts and never feel alone.
But now, they have to face this harsh reality.
After a long period of slumber, the council guard did not feel too uncomfortable with the loneliness, but he did dislike this way of communicating that lacked genuine connection.
“My battle axe will tear the enemy apart,” he replied succinctly to the Dark Templar.
Seeing Voyles gripping his battle axe tightly in his right hand, the Dark Templar wisely disappeared into the shadows.
“We are about to land. Prepare for impact.” Aiur warned the Protoss warriors who were standing still, glancing at the distance displayed before him.
Voyers remained motionless, silently watching the four mechs descend.
A magnificent cloak billowed behind him, and his view of other civilizations remained stuck in the Golden Age.
In his eyes, the current Terran Empire is a newly emerging, short-lived civilization that needs guidance.
"Wow, this alien is surprisingly handsome," El exclaimed.
She maneuvered the dove to land steadily, with the Protoss Council guard less than five meters away from the mech.
"I think their name is... Council Guard." Azure Star left the cockpit and answered El through the communication channel.
"He seems to be filled with... fighting spirit?" Chen Huijie stared at Voeler standing there, muttering to herself.
Prior to this, the Protoss force had already used psionic energy to dispel some of the darkness.
In Voyers' eyes, all four mechs were capable of close combat.
Perhaps, he can hone his martial arts skills, which have reached their limit, on these mechs.
As the four stepped off the mechs, Voyers went to greet them. Despite his pride, he was not arrogant.
El walked at the front, and Voel's gaze instantly sharpened, and he fell silent.
He keenly sensed that the short man before him possessed a more mature and composed soul than the other three.
"I am Voyers, the Protoss commander of this operation." Voyers' voice was full of determination, as if he were declaring his resolve and courage to the world.
His gaze was firm and profound, revealing his desire for victory and his dedication to his mission.
"I am El Nesti, the leader of the mech squad for this operation," El said solemnly to Voyers. Although his voice was somewhat immature, it was still steady and powerful, showing his confidence and sense of responsibility as an excellent soldier.
He straightened his body, his eyes flashing with fighting spirit, as if he were ready to meet any challenge.
“El…Nesti, my troops are ready to attack.” Voyers looked at El, his voice pausing as if considering how to express himself. “It is somewhat shameful to say this, but my troops alone cannot annihilate the enemy before a recall.”
"Ah...it's nothing, we're just here to help you," El replied, sighing inwardly. Every Protoss would pause for a moment upon hearing his name.
He understood Voyers' concerns and knew how difficult the battle would be.
However, he showed no sign of backing down and instead expressed even more firmly his willingness to fight alongside Voyles.
He knew that only by uniting as one could they defeat a powerful enemy.
“Then let’s launch the attack.” Voyles’ eyes were fixed on El through his azure visors, a determined light shining in them.
“Okay.” El felt uncomfortable under Voyers’s gaze. He took a deep breath and tried to stay calm.
He sensed the powerful aura emanating from Voyers, which made him realize that the battle would be more intense and brutal than he had imagined.
Upon hearing El's reply, Voyers turned and walked away, his steps firm and swift, as if he were marching toward victory.
He led his troops toward the research station, preparing for a thrilling battle.
The Protoss forces set off with Voyle. The entire force consisted of only 30 Zealots, 10 Dragoons, 5 Sentinels, one Council Guard, and one Dark Templar.
As El watched Voyers and the others walk away, he couldn't help but exclaim, "Good, very decisive!"
Watching the Protoss forces disappear into the distance, Aiur shook his head helplessly, inwardly groaning.
As of now, he still doesn't know when the Protoss forces will provide support, nor does he know which direction they will prioritize attacking.
The Protoss Council guard didn't even tell him this basic information.
El couldn't help but complain, "Am I supposed to just improvise?"
El let his hands hang down; he hated fighting battles without any intelligence.
In fact, he completely overestimated the military command capabilities of this council guard. In the past, if a Protoss had any questions, they could ask in the Kara and immediately have a large number of proficient Protoss to answer them.
He was indeed a commander with considerable leadership skills when Kara was still around, but now that Kara is gone, he has forgotten everything about intelligence sharing and joint operations since there are no Protoss to discuss these things with him.
The Dark Templar hidden in the shadows instantly understood why the Archbishop had sent him; it seemed that the Aiur Protoss's combat power had been halved after losing the Kara.
He needs to step forward and tell humanity about the intelligence on this battle, as well as what to be aware of during joint operations.
As for the Protoss's cooperation, the Dark Templar still trusted the fighting instincts of their brethren honed over hundreds of years.
A pair of glowing green eyes appeared before the four, followed by the appearance of a Dark Templar dressed in very simple clothing for a Protoss.
"I will tell you our intelligence and the places you need to prioritize attacking," the ghostly voice of the Dark Templar echoed in the four men's minds.
