Chapter 34 Corruption and Helena
Genesis, Control Center
Kirsagh stared silently at the hologram of the Genesis before him, lost in thought.
Her gaze was focused and determined, as if she were trying to find the answer in the image.
Time passed by, and she was immersed in her own world of thought, seemingly oblivious to everything around her.
It wasn't until HLN-A drifted in that Kirsaji snapped out of his daze.
"Al took some reactors and instruction manuals." HLN-A moved his two cute little triangular "hands" and reported to Kilsazzi.
Kilsager nodded to indicate that he understood, but his gaze remained fixed on the Genesis, watching the stagnant corruption on it.
"I'm a ship girl. I tried to modify the weapons on the Kearsarge, and I succeeded," Kearsarge suddenly said, her voice tinged with sadness.
HLN-A turned around and looked at her curiously, seemingly quite surprised by what she had said.
Kilsager then began pacing around the control panel, his steps slow and deliberate.
“Its components have all been modified or remade.” Kilsaji looked up, gazing through the window at the pitch-black space, his eyes gleaming.
“But it has reached its limit; it can't be upgraded any further.” Her tone revealed a sense of bewilderment.
"You mean your main body, the aircraft carrier battleship Killer?" HLN-A looked puzzled, trying to understand what Killer was saying.
Kilsager nodded, confirming HLN-A's guess.
She knew that although it gave Kirsage the means to survive in this world, it was also gradually showing signs of aging and fatigue.
Kilsager stopped in her tracks, a hint of confusion and bewilderment in her eyes: "I always thought I was Kilsager, but clearly, my true nature is not Kilsager."
"Huh?" HLN-A stared wide-eyed in surprise, his mind filled with doubt.
It wanted to say, "If you're not the Kearsarge, then what are you?" However, it didn't ask directly, but expressed its doubt through its tone.
Kirsage seemed to see through HLN-A's thoughts. She smiled slightly and explained, "I had this suspicion before, but the strange phenomena that El exhibited when piloting the Imperial Titan confirmed this fact for me."
Kirsar turned around to face HLN-A, his gaze firm and deep.
She said slowly, "I am neither human nor a ship girl in the strict sense."
After saying this, Killer Jake raised his right hand, and tiny purple lines suddenly appeared on his snow-white arm, like winding snakes. These lines emitted an eerie light that sent chills down one's spine.
"This is! Corruption!" HLN-A stared in shock at the purple markings on Kearsarge's arm, his voice filled with undisguised astonishment.
Kirsaj nodded slightly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes: "Yes, this is corruption. But the difference is that this corruption is something I can control."
After saying that, Killer Zelda lowered his right hand, and the purple patterns vanished without a trace, as if they had never existed.
After a moment of silence, HLN-A asked, "But... I remember that the database records that although energy elements and corrupting energy are from the same source, they do not cause corruption."
“I made it come of my own accord.” Kirsage’s eyes lit up with a blue light. “Rockwell could corrupt Genesis, and so can I.”
Kilsager's words completely baffled HLN-A, who realized that Genesis was caught in the middle between the two guys.
“Most importantly, I once tried to absorb Rockwell’s corrupted energy.” Kirsaj’s right eye began to slowly change, its originally azure eyes gradually turning into a deep purple, the eerie light seeming to come from the abyss.
He stared intently at HLN-A, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
"Now I want to ask you, have you really handed over the Genesis and human civilization completely to me?" Killer Jake took a deep breath, his tone heavy and firm. "Helena, the Goddess."
HLN-A looked at the solemn-looking Kirsage with a puzzled expression, a hint of doubt rising in her mind: Has this guy suffered some kind of brain injury? She had clearly stated her identity to him many times, that she was just a split personality of Helena, not the real her.
"Neither ship girls nor humans can give a soulless machine a true soul." Kirsaj chuckled self-deprecatingly, then continued, "Even less can they confront the messenger of the corrupted overlord."
HLN-A listened quietly without interrupting him.
“I have a peculiar sense of energy. What I felt on the Emperor-class Titan wasn’t Tek energy, but… psionic energy!” Kirsaj’s voice became increasingly solemn, as if he were announcing something extremely important.
Just as HLN-A was about to ask what psionic energy was, it suddenly realized that it had been forcibly logged off.
At that moment, a gentle voice came: "Your senses are indeed keen."
Then, "HLN-A" spoke up: "Humanity is already extinct."
"All that remains are their legacy and those 'clones' that look very much like humans."
Kirsage stared at "HLN-A" in silence. She knew in her heart that it was Helena who was active at that moment.
"Do you want the Genesis to be your 'ship'?"
“That’s right.” Kirsage nodded slightly, because in all her contingency plans, having herself in control of Genesis was undoubtedly the best option.
“Then go ahead and do it.” After confirming Kirsar’s intentions, Helena said with a sense of relief, “We non-human ‘humans’ should also be buried with human civilization.”
"Thank you." Kirsaj bowed deeply to Helena.
"I will come when you face Rockwell in your final battle," Helena said, before letting HLN-A return to her body.
Kirsa straightened up, looking at the projection of Genesis, a slight smile playing on his lips, his eyes firm and full of hope.
She knew that from this moment on, her future was no longer uncertain; she had a clear goal and direction.
"Hey! Where is she?!" The first thing HLN-A did upon logging in was to search everywhere for Helena, only to find that she had vanished.
“Rockwell, just you wait.” A cold glint flashed in Kearsarge’s eyes as he said firmly, “You and everything you have will be crushed by me.”
"Didn't you say you couldn't kill Rockwell? How come you can now?" HLN-A, who hadn't found Helena, heard Kirsar's statement and asked with a hint of doubt and urgency, "Are we going to go and crush him now?"
At this moment, HLN-A's gaze was drawn to Kirsage, who stood quietly, looking up at the sky with a deep and focused look in her eyes.
The sunlight fell on her, outlining her resolute features.
Kirsagh narrowed his eyes slightly, seemingly deep in thought.
She slowly stretched out her right hand, as if to grasp the simulated blue sky and white clouds and hold them tightly in her palm.
