Without hesitation, Chen Jianguo said, "I'll call the driver right away, and we'll drive to the Xu family's courtyard house together."

"You must bring your second aunt back; we absolutely cannot let her suffer any injustice."

While waiting for the driver, Chen Jianguo quickly went to the phone.

Using his position as deputy director of the Urban Construction Bureau, he dialed the phone number of another deputy director of the Public Security Bureau.

His tone was serious and left no room for argument: "Hey, Lao Zhang, this is Chen Jianguo."

“I’ve run into a bit of an emergency. My second sister has been forcibly taken away by her husband’s family. Her situation is unclear, and I’m worried that she might be in danger.”

"Do me a favor and send a few policemen to the Xu family courtyard right away."

"We have to ensure her safety; we can't afford any mishaps."

After the call ended, Li Huazhen was the first to lose her composure and rushed over.

Chen Guilan followed closely behind, and the two of them surrounded Chen Jianguo almost at the same time.

Li Huazhen's eyes reddened, and her worry was evident.

She reached out and grabbed Chen Jianguo's arm tightly, her voice trembling slightly, and asked first, "Jianguo, what exactly happened?"

"When did Dongzi become a boss? How come we had no idea?"

"Also, how dare the Xu family take Meiju away by force?"

As she spoke, she nervously clutched the hem of her clothes with both hands, her fingers turning white from the force, her anxious expression heartbreaking.

Chen Guilan also looked anxious, her brows furrowed into a deep frown.

She stepped forward and gently patted Li Huazhen's back, both to comfort her sister-in-law and to calm herself down.

He then pressed on, "Yeah, brother, this is too strange."

"Dongzi usually doesn't show off, how did he become the boss?"

"Meiju has always been diligent and hardworking in our family. What is her husband's family up to?"

"We can't just stand by and watch; we have to find a way to rescue them as soon as possible."

As she spoke, she stamped her feet anxiously on the spot, her eyes filled with urgency and anger.

Chen Jianguo was somewhat bewildered by the series of questions.

He subconsciously looked at Chen Dong, his eyes full of doubt and inquiry.

Seeing this, Chen Dong took a deep breath, stepped forward, and tried to keep his voice steady.

He began to explain, “Dad, Mom, Second Aunt, it’s like this: I had my eye on a piece of land in the suburbs that was perfect for raising livestock, so I was thinking of investing in building a chicken farm.”

“My second aunt is meticulous and efficient, so I asked her to help manage the business. Over this period of time, the business has been doing quite well.”

"But who knows what happened today? My second aunt's husband's family suddenly came and forcibly took my second aunt away without saying a word."

"As for the money for investment, you don't need to worry about it. It's money I earned from stock trading."

Seeing this, Li Huazhen wanted to ask something else.

Chen Jianguo waved his hand to interrupt her.

"Alright, this isn't the time to ask about the chicken farm."

"I just called Lao Zhang at the Public Security Bureau and asked him to send a few police officers over."

"Let's set off right away and make sure to bring Meiju back safely."

Chen Jianguo's voice was firm as he tried to calm his wife and sister.

Upon hearing this, Li Huazhen and Chen Guilan immediately turned red with anger.

"The Xu family has gone too far! How can they be so unreasonable and domineering?"

Chen Guilan echoed, clenching her fists and waving them in the air: "That's right, it's too much! We can't just let this go."

As she spoke, she wanted to go with him, but Chen Jianguo stopped her.

"Don't go and cause trouble, stay home and take good care of Daya and Erya."

"Dongzi and I can handle this. Too many people will only make things more difficult, so let's not mess things up."

Chen Jianguo looked at them with a serious expression and a firm gaze, and said in a way that left no room for doubt.

After saying that, Chen Jianguo picked up the phone and made a pager call to inform his driver.

Not long after, a car horn sounded outside; the driver had arrived.

Chen Jianguo and Chen Dong exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with determination and resolve, before quickly going downstairs and getting into their car.

The car sped away into the night like a black lightning bolt.

The two beams of light from the car headlights illuminated the winding road ahead, and also the glimmer of hope in their hearts.

A dozen minutes later, a black sedan, like a black beetle, slowly came to a stop under the old locust tree outside the Xu family's courtyard.

As soon as the car came to a stop, before the vibrations had completely subsided, Chen Dong and Chen Jianguo got out of the car.

The two stood side by side, their gazes inadvertently sweeping towards the police car that was already parked there.

The police car's cold, metallic body reflected a blinding light in the sunlight, as if silently foreshadowing the unpleasant events that were about to unfold.

Chen Dong's furrowed brows relaxed a bit, and he said, "Dad, the police car has arrived. Auntie should be alright. Let's go inside."

Chen Jianguo nodded and walked towards the Xu family's courtyard house.

As soon as I entered the courtyard, a cacophony of noise rushed towards me like a surging tide.

Chen Dong and Chen Jianguo looked up and saw several uniformed police officers standing in the middle of the courtyard, seriously persuading the Xu family.

One of the tall policemen stepped forward and said with a serious expression, "You have to handle this matter according to the law."

"What you're doing is wrong; you can't break the law."

The policeman's voice echoed in the courtyard, carrying an unquestionable authority.

However, the Xu family members were like a group of stubborn ostriches, each sticking to their own version of events and refusing to listen to the police.

Old Master Xu Youde stood at the entrance of the main room, leaning on his cane. His back was slightly hunched, and he stared blankly ahead without saying a word.

He wore an inscrutable expression, as if everything around him was irrelevant.

Xu Xiucai sat on a stone bench to the side, puffing on his pipe.

The smoke from the dry tobacco pipe swirled in the air like a ghost, seemingly trying to dispel the gloom on his face, but to no avail.

His brows were furrowed tightly, as if he had endless worries on his mind.

His second brother, Xu Maocai, stood there like a door god, his face full of fierce features and his eyes exuding a domineering aura.

His eyes widened when he saw someone come in.

His eyes instantly filled with hostility, like two copper bells.

Xu Maocai's wife, Li Dongdong, was not to be outdone.

She stood to the side, her face bearing a sharp and sarcastic expression, her eyes darting around, as if she were plotting some wicked scheme.

With her arms crossed over her chest and her body trembling slightly, she looked like a female dog about to pounce and bite.

The eldest brother, Xu, a scholar, paced back and forth in the courtyard like an old pedant, shaking his head.

He kept muttering to himself, as if searching for something to refute.
