Colorful years

Chapter 176: Staying Up to Welcome the New Year

The family sat around the warm fire pit, where the leaping flames danced merrily, as if celebrating this special moment.

Everyone held sweet and delicious rice cakes and various exquisite snacks in their hands, chewing on the delicious treats with happy smiles on their faces.

The elders chatted warmly, recounting the events of the past year, while the children listened attentively with curious eyes, occasionally interjecting with innocent remarks that drew laughter from everyone.

This warm and harmonious atmosphere permeates the air, captivating people and making them unable to tear themselves away.

On this special Lunar New Year's Eve, every room was brightly lit, like twinkling stars adorning this warm and welcoming place. Everyone, young and old, was filled with joy and anticipation; no one went to bed early to rest.

The whole family sat closely around the warm fire pit, stretching out their hands and occasionally bringing them close to the roaring firewood, feeling the warmth it brought.

They chatted and laughed, talking about everyday matters, strange and interesting things, sharing the bits and pieces of the past year, and looking forward to the new year to come.

Time ticked by, and as midnight approached, people began to feel a little tired, and yawns rose and fell. But just then, the New Year's bells rang out, melodious and solemn, like heavenly music.

The bell tolled not from anywhere else, but from the loudspeaker at the other end of the village.

The clear, melodious sound, like a spring breeze, instantly spread throughout the tranquil village, breaking the silence of the night. It was like a magic key, unlocking the door to the New Year; and like a stirring bugle call, inspiring people to stride towards a future full of hope and beauty.

As the bells rang, everyone's face beamed with happiness and joy, their hearts filled with boundless longing for a new life.

In an instant, the once quiet and peaceful village seemed to be ignited, instantly boiling over! The deafening sound of firecrackers resounded through the sky, like bursts of thunder exploding in the air; colorful fireworks soared into the sky, blooming into beautiful and unparalleled flowers.

Red like flames, yellow like golden chrysanthemums, blue like jewels... they complement each other, adorning the dark night sky like a dreamlike fairyland.

Congcong, unable to contain his excitement, rushed out of his house, eager to join the crowd celebrating the New Year. He and his friends joyfully set off firecrackers, striking a match to light the fuse. A series of loud crackling sounds followed, and the firecrackers scattered like countless twinkling stars.

Then, they looked up, their eyes glued to the fireworks bursting across the night sky, occasionally letting out gasps of amazement and cheers. At that moment, everyone's heart was filled with joy and wonderful hopes for the new year.

As Congcong watched the fireworks in the night sky, he silently made a New Year's wish: that his family would be safe and healthy, that the weather would be favorable, that the harvest would be plentiful, and that his academic performance would be even better.

After setting off firecrackers and fireworks, Congcong and his friends returned home, still feeling quite excited.

The adults in the family were still chatting, sharing their achievements of the past year and their hopes for the future.

Grandpa is an elderly man nearing eighty. He picked up a steaming cup of tea, took a small sip, and slowly said, "In the new year, we must work even harder. I hope for favorable weather, a good harvest, and that everyone can live a better life."

Zhang Zhong nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, Dad, don't worry. We'll work hard, and the kids will work even harder to get good grades."

Shi Daya gently stroked Congcong's head, her eyes full of affection: "I'm not worried about Congcong's grades at all. He's a top student and will definitely be successful in the future!"

Congcong nodded seriously and said firmly, "Grandpa, Dad, Mom, please let me go. In the new year, my grades will not only be better, but I will also spend more time helping with the family's burdens."

He knew that his parents and elders had high expectations for him, and he hoped that he could live up to those expectations and become a useful person.

As night deepened, everyone grew tired and got up to go back to their rooms to rest.

Congcong returned to his little room, lay on his bed, but couldn't fall asleep for a long time. He thought back on everything that had happened that day, and his heart was filled with emotion and warmth. He knew that although this family wasn't wealthy, it was full of love and hope.

Congcong closed his eyes and imagined his future life. He hoped that he could study hard, get into a good university, find a good job, and give his family a better life.

Perhaps one day, I will truly be able to step onto that three-foot-wide platform and become a glorious people's teacher.

Every morning, sunlight streams into the classroom through the windows. I stand there with a smile on my face, textbook in hand, imparting knowledge to my students in a clear and loud voice.

Those profound theories, interesting stories, and practical skills all came to life through my narration.
