Jade of Another World

Chapter 133 Cause must have consequences

When Lin Ning learned that Nangong Yu was seriously injured again, she was shocked and immediately rushed to the prison. Along the way, she was filled with doubt and worry. Nangong Yu's health had clearly improved considerably under her care, so how could he suddenly be seriously injured again, and even more severely than before? He was barely clinging to life and had been given a drug to make him mute. What had happened?

Upon arriving at the prison, Lin Ning saw Nangong Yu lying weakly in the corner of the cell. His face, which had regained some color, was now ashen white, a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth, and his eyes were filled with fear and despair. Lin Ning felt a pang of heartache and quickly walked to his side, squatted down, and softly asked, "Little Jade King, what happened?"

Nangong Yu opened his mouth, but could only utter indistinct sounds. His eyes were filled with tears, brimming with helplessness. Lin Ning understood he couldn't speak, and her anger and confusion intensified. She turned to the jailer beside her and questioned, "Aren't you responsible for guarding him? How could this happen?"

The jailers looked at each other, and one of them answered tremblingly, "Miss Lin, we don't know either. When we came to deliver food this morning, we saw that... Nangong Yu was already like this. We really didn't see anything."

Lin Ning knew she wouldn't get any useful information from the prison guards, so she gritted her teeth and decided to meet with Xuan Yuanche, hoping to get some clues from him.

Rushing to the palace, Lin Ning anxiously asked Xuan Yuanche, "Your Majesty, Nangong Yu is seriously injured again and has been given a drug to make him mute. What happened? The Imperial Prison should be a safe place, how could such a thing happen?"

Upon hearing this, Xuanyuan Che frowned, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes: "I have just learned of this matter and have already sent people to investigate thoroughly. The Imperial Prison is heavily guarded, yet such a thing still happened; there must be something hidden behind it."

Lin Ning felt somewhat relieved, but still couldn't help but say, "Your Majesty, please be sure to find out the truth as soon as possible. Nangong Yu has already received the punishment he deserves. If the mastermind behind this cannot be found, he will die a violent death sooner or later."

Xuanyuan Che nodded slightly, his gaze firm, and said, "Miss Lin, rest assured, I will investigate this thoroughly and give you an explanation. No matter who is behind this, I will not let them off easily."

Lin Ning bowed in thanks, but her heart remained uneasy. She didn't know what conspiracy lay behind this incident, nor whether Nangong Yu would survive this ordeal. She could only silently pray that the truth would come to light and that Nangong Yu would be safe. Meanwhile, within this seemingly peaceful palace, a turbulent conspiracy seemed to have only just begun…

Lin Ning was filled with worry. Looking at the severely injured and speechless Nangong Yu, her pity deepened. She knew that if Nangong Yu didn't receive timely treatment, his life would be in danger. So she once again summoned her assistants, carefully prepared medicinal herbs, and devoted herself to treating Nangong Yu. Under her meticulous care, although Nangong Yu's injuries relapsed, they were at least temporarily stabilized.

However, news of Nangong Yu's repeated beatings in the imperial prison somehow reached Consort De's ears in the Cold Palace. Since her imprisonment, Consort De had suffered endless humiliation at the hands of palace maids and eunuchs, her life a living hell. Yet, even so, her greatest concern remained for her son, Nangong Yu.

When Consort De heard that her son had been brutally beaten in the imperial prison and even given a drug to make him mute, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. Her hands gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, her nails almost digging into her flesh, her face a mixture of pain and rage.

"My son..." Consort De let out a mournful cry, tears streaming down her face. She wanted to rush out to save her son, to avenge him, but she was trapped in this cold and desolate palace, powerless to do anything.

Anger, sadness, and despair overwhelmed her like a tidal wave. Consort De felt a sharp pain in her chest, as if a fire was burning inside. Her body swayed precariously, and finally, unable to hold on any longer, she fell heavily to the ground.

In her final moments, Consort De's mind drifted to images of Nangong Yu as a child, innocent, adorable, and carefree. Now, however, he had met such a tragic end. Filled with remorse, Consort De hated her own ambition and ruthless methods that had driven her son to such a tragic fate.

With a spurt of blood, Consort De's body gradually went still. She left this world, filled with regret and pain. Meanwhile, Nangong Yu, unaware of his mother's passing, was still struggling against grief and fate. As Lin Ning treated Nangong Yu, she also sensed that a powerful dark force was controlling everything behind these events, and the Dayu Imperial Palace was likely to face even greater turmoil…
