Chapter 21 Confession
After a good night's sleep, Lin Hao woke up early the next morning to find herself alone in bed. She touched the temperature next to her and found it had completely cooled down.
Fu Cui came in to help her wash up. Lin Hao asked, "When did Master leave? Has he had breakfast?"
"He left around 5 a.m., and after having breakfast, he specifically told me not to wake you too early!" As Fu Cui spoke, she glanced at Lin Hao's expression out of the corner of her eye. Sure enough, she saw a blush on Lin Hao's face and couldn't help but think to herself, "The master and madam's relationship is indeed getting better and better!"
After washing up, Lin Hao sat down at the table and looked at the breakfast on it. She asked Fu Cui, "Is Yu-ge'er awake? If he hasn't had breakfast yet, let's call him to join us!"
Before Fu Cui could answer, Gu Yu's cheerful little voice came from outside: "Mother, Brother Yu is here to have dinner with you!" Then came a series of light, quick footsteps, accompanied by the servants' exclamations: "Young Master, slow down, don't fall!"
Soon, a little ball of fluff rushed into Lin Hao's arms, its head darting around excitedly. Smelling the baby's soft, milky scent, Lin Hao felt like she had a better appetite!
A slightly distorted voice came from her arms: "Mother, I miss you so much!"
Lin Hao chuckled and said helplessly, "Baby, we've only been apart for one night."
"But I feel like a very, very long time has passed," the little dumpling said in a wronged voice.
Lin Hao pulled him into her arms, and the little boy hugged her back.
"Okay, our Yu-ge'er misses his mother, doesn't he?" Lin Hao coaxed the little dumpling who had come to beg for a hug so early in the morning.
"Mmm, I really want to, I really want to." Her sweet, childlike voice was incredibly adorable.
"How about we have breakfast together today, my darling?" Lin Hao coaxed.
"Mmm." The little boy nodded vigorously, then seemed to remember something, nervously clutching the hem of his clothes, and hesitated, "Mother, what if... what if Yu-ge'er is lying?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Hao realized the problem was quite serious! She quickly said solemnly, "That depends on the problem and why Yu-ge'er is lying." She couldn't help but wonder, what kind of lie could such a little dumpling tell?
The little boy looked up at her and saw that she didn't seem angry, so he mustered up his courage and said, "That's right, yesterday, my mother asked me why I was happy, and I said it was because of the hot pot."
Lin Hao gazed at the little boy with gentle eyes, as if encouraging him. Under that gaze, the little boy's anxious heart seemed to calm down strangely, and he continued, "Actually, what makes me happiest is when my father, mother, and I are together."
"Will Mother be angry if I don't tell the truth?" The little boy blinked his big, bright eyes and looked at Lin Hao nervously.
To be honest, Lin Hao never expected to hear such words. At this moment, her heart felt like an unripe plum, both sour and astringent.
For many children in the 21st century, the readily available parent-child time has become something that excites Xiao Baozi immensely.
Lin Hao didn't know how the family of three got along when Lin Shu or the original owner of the body were around, but she imagined it certainly wasn't a very warm or loving scene. Otherwise, the little bun wouldn't be the way she first saw him—a child who lacked a sense of security and would jump for joy at being called "baby"!
Despite her inner turmoil, she maintained a gentle smile and coaxed, "Of course I'm not angry! Our Yu-ge'er is a good boy, and he didn't lie. It's just that there are more reasons to make you happy than one, and you only mentioned one, right?"
The little boy nodded vigorously in agreement, and instead of clutching his clothes tightly, he wrapped his arms around Lin Hao's body.
“That’s right. Let me tell you, as long as your little secret won’t hurt anyone, you don’t have to tell anyone. You can keep it to yourself.” Lin Hao tried to comfort the little boy, stroking his hair as she spoke.
"Hmm, but how do I know if I'll hurt anyone?" the little dumpling asked, puzzled.
"Well, you can ask your father and mother!" Lin Hao hesitated for a moment, then continued to evade the question. She thought to herself, raising a child is too difficult. Indeed, these kinds of challenging educational problems should be left to the child's father; she's better suited to be a playmate.
“I understand, I can ask Grandma, right?” the little dumpling said excitedly.
"Yes, my baby is so smart!"
The little dumpling's smile returned, and he said energetically, "Mmm, I'm the best!" A gurgling sound came from behind him, and the little dumpling covered his little belly shyly, giving Lin Hao an awkward smile.
Lin Hao quickly invited him to have breakfast. The mother and son happily finished their breakfast and went to Rongshou Hall to keep the old lady company.
