Chapter 91 On the Shores of the Desert, A Difficult Choice
The scorching hot wind, carrying fine sand, felt like countless tiny needles pricking the faces of Lin Yu and his group.
Standing on the edge of the desert, looking at the vast sea of sand before me, the boundless golden yellow stretches to the horizon, as if it wants to devour everything.
That unknown danger, like an invisible pressure, enveloped everyone, making it hard to breathe.
In the distance, sand and dust billowed, like a giant, earthen-yellow dragon rolling about, inevitably conjuring images of various dangers lurking beneath the sand: venomous scorpions, rattlesnakes, and even...
Something even more terrifying.
"Damn, this desert is giving me the creeps!" The Norse warrior couldn't help but rub his arms. Despite his many battles, the desert's intimidating presence still made him feel uneasy.
Kong Yang's expression also turned serious. He looked worriedly into the depths of the desert: "Aysha is still waiting for us. We have to get there as soon as possible!"
"Wait!" The Nordic warrior suddenly raised his hand. "Are you crazy? Are you just going to rush in like this? This desert is full of dangers, we must prepare first!" He pointed to the slightly tired figures of the group behind him. "Look, everyone has been traveling a long way and is already very tired. We must rest and collect supplies first to ensure our safety."
Kong Yang stamped his feet anxiously, "But Aisha can't wait! What if..." He didn't finish his sentence, but everyone understood what he meant.
The two men each held their own version of events, and the atmosphere immediately became tense.
Lin Yu was caught in the middle, his brows furrowed.
Torn between his brother's safety and his lover's waiting, what choice did he have?
"Aisha..." Lin Yu murmured to himself, Aisha's gentle smile, her kindness, her courage all appearing in his mind, all of which made his heart ache.
“I…” Lin Yu suddenly raised his head, a resolute glint in his eyes.
"Brothers, listen to me!" Lin Yu's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority that instantly silenced the commotion.
He took a deep breath, his gaze sweeping over the anxious faces before finally settling on Kong Yang's worried eyes.
In my mind, Aisha's smile is like an oasis in the desert, clear and sweet.
He recalled the scene of their first meeting, the tenderness with which Aisha bandaged his wounds, and the shy look on her face when she gave him the hand-knitted bracelet...
“Aisha is waiting for us, and I want to rush in immediately more than anyone else.” Lin Yu’s voice was low but full of strength. “But we can’t be reckless! Dying doesn’t make us heroes; only living can save her!”
He paused, his gaze shifting to the Norse warrior, a confident smile playing on his lips: "Old Norseman, you're right, we need to prepare. But this preparation doesn't mean everyone cowering here!" He slammed his hand on the edge of the bed—yes, he remained firmly seated on his magical bed, commanding with unwavering composure.
"Kong Yang, you have the best lightness skill and are quite familiar with the desert. Take some necessities and go ahead to scout out the situation and find Aisha!"
This decision stunned everyone.
Kong Yang stared wide-eyed at Lin Yu in disbelief: "Boss, this is too dangerous! Let me go!" The Nordic warrior also frowned, wanting to dissuade him.
"Execute the order!" Lin Yu said without room for doubt. "We will collect supplies on the edge of the desert to meet you. Remember, safety first! If anything happens, contact us immediately using the communicator!" He took out a uniquely shaped metal disc from the storage space beside the bed and handed it to Kong Yang. "This is the latest sandboard. Take it with you; it will save you a lot of energy."
Kong Yang took the skateboard, gave Lin Yu a deep look, his eyes filled with trust and gratitude.
He nodded solemnly, said nothing more, turned and ran towards the vast sea of sand, his figure quickly disappearing into the rolling yellow sand.
The Nordic warrior watched Kong Yang's departing figure, then glanced at the calm-faced Lin Yu, finally sighed, walked to Lin Yu's bedside, and whispered, "Boss, you..."
Lin Yu smiled slightly, his gaze fixed on the depths of the desert, his eyes resolute and profound: "It's time for us to begin our operation..." He reached under the bed and pulled out a strangely shaped metal detector. "It's said that this thing can detect the tracks of sandworms..."
Kong Yang, with his feet on a sandboard, darted through the sea of sand like a desert fox.
His keen observation skills allowed him to successfully avoid several quicksand traps disguised as ordinary sand dunes.
"Luckily I was quick-witted, otherwise I would have been finished." He wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling extremely fortunate.
To his even greater surprise, behind what appeared to be a barren sand dune, he discovered a clear spring!
"Wow! What incredible luck!" He immediately notified Lin Yu via communicator: "Boss! Water source found! Coordinates XXX, XXX!"
"Well done, Kong Yang!" Lin Yu's gratified voice came through the communicator, followed by a cheer.
This news undoubtedly gave everyone a shot in the arm, and the previously gloomy atmosphere was swept away.
Lin Yu lay on the bed, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his face: "This kid is getting more and more reliable."
However, the good times did not last long.
Kong Yang continued onward, only to encounter a group of desert bandits.
"This mountain is mine, these trees are mine, if you want to pass, leave your toll!" A burly bandit leader, brandishing a curved knife, blocked Kong Yang's path.
"You bunch of good-for-nothings?" Kong Yang sneered, showing no fear.
He used the agility of his sandboard to navigate between the dunes and outmaneuver the bandits.
"Da da da!" Kong Yang imagined the sound of himself firing lasers as his dagger flashed like lightning, and several bandits fell to the ground.
However, the number of bandits was too great, and Kong Yang gradually found himself overwhelmed.
"Damn it, two fists can't fight four hands!" he thought to himself, just then, the roar of an engine came from afar!
"It's the boss!" Kong Yang's spirits lifted.
Lin Yu's modified bed roared in like a sand tank, and the Nordic warriors, armed with Gatling guns, opened fire wildly. The bandits scattered like leaves swept away by the autumn wind.
"Boss is amazing!" Kong Yang couldn't help but cheer.
Lin Yu peeked out from the bed, looked at the disheveled Kong Yang, and chuckled, "You little rascal, be more careful next time, don't be so reckless."
Kong Yang chuckled and scratched his head.
The group cleaned up the mess, replenished their water supply, and their morale soared.
"Let's go, let's keep going!" Lin Yu waved his hand, his gaze resolute.
He knew that the real challenge had only just begun...
Deep in the desert, the blazing sun hangs high...
Lin Yu narrowed his eyes, "Wait, what's that..."
