A bed that traverses countless worlds

Chapter 181 New Perils in the Ruins, Unwavering Commitment

“This seal…” Lin Yu’s fingertips lightly touched the ancient runes, and a chill ran straight up his fingertips to his heart.

The surrounding air seemed to freeze, oppressively suffocating, and countless prying eyes seemed to lurk in the darkness.

He took a deep breath, sensing the dangerous aura emanating from the depths of the ruins, his expression growing increasingly solemn.

"Something's wrong..."

"Brother Yu, should we reinforce the defenses of the surrounding forests?" Kong Yang's voice came through the communicator, tinged with worry.

“No,” Lin Yu decisively rejected, “Those old foxes in the Imperial Legion aren’t that stupid. It’s unlikely they’ll launch a frontal assault. I feel they’ll be stirring things up elsewhere, and a feint attack is more probable.”

His words startled Kong Yang. "A feint attack? Then we..."

"Double the defensive towers' guard force, leave other areas untouched, and focus on monitoring the weak points in the northwest of the ruins." Lin Yu quickly issued the order, his tone leaving no room for argument.

These words immediately caused an uproar in the communicator.

"Boss, the northwest is notoriously easy to defend and difficult to attack. The Imperial Legion must be out of their minds to attack from there, right?"

"Yeah, Brother Yu, isn't this too risky? What if they really attack from the forest?"

Even Su Yao, Alice, and Aisha expressed their concerns, since Lin Yu's decision completely violated conventional defensive thinking.

“Believe me,” Lin Yu said firmly, “I have a feeling that the real danger is not in the forest, but…” He paused, his gaze turning to the depths of the ruins, “…inside.”

He reached out and touched the seal again, a sharp pain shooting through his fingertips, followed by a powerful surge of energy that instantly spread outwards...

"Report! Enemy forces spotted to the northwest!"

"What?!" everyone exclaimed.

A barely perceptible smile appeared on Lin Yu's lips. "They're here..." He abruptly stood up, his eyes sharp. "All members, prepare for battle!"

The communicator crackled with the sounds of hurried footsteps and clashing weapons; a battle was imminent.

Suddenly, a loud explosion came from deep within the ruins...

"Boom!" A deafening explosion resounded through the sky, the defensive tower shook violently, and debris flew everywhere.

The Imperial Legion's heavy artillery roared, raining down shells, while the Black-Clad Bandits, like a pack of hungry wolves, surged madly toward the defensive towers under the cover of the artillery fire.

"Damn, these bastards are serious!" Kong Yang cursed as he directed the defense. "Brother Yu, can we hold on?"

"It's alright, it just wears out the sheets a bit..." Lin Yu lay on the bed, manipulating the defense system, his face somewhat pale.

The Imperial Legion's firepower was even more intense than he had imagined; the energy shields of the defensive towers had begun to flicker and could collapse at any moment.

"Boss, there are too many enemies in the northwest, we can't hold them off any longer!" came the anxious shout over the communicator.

"Hold on, reinforcements are coming soon... Wait, what's this?" Lin Yu's gaze suddenly fell on an inconspicuous button on the control panel, which was engraved with some strange runes that he had never noticed before.

"Let's take a gamble!" He gritted his teeth and pressed the button sharply.

"Buzz—" A deep buzzing sound rang out, and a dazzling light suddenly appeared at the bottom of the defensive tower, with a powerful energy wave spreading out instantly.

"What's going on?" The commander of the Imperial Legion looked at the scene with surprise and doubt. Before he could react, an invisible force pushed him and the soldiers around him away.

"Ahhh—" The thieves of the Black-Clad Gang were thrown into the air like kites with broken strings, their screams echoing one after another.

"Holy crap, Brother Yu, what kind of god-like operation is this?" Kong Yang stared at the monitor screen, dumbfounded.

Lin Yu was also completely baffled. "I don't know either. It was just a lucky guess..."

The Imperial Legion and the Black-Clad Thieves were caught off guard and fled in disarray.

The crisis under the turret was temporarily averted, but Lin Yu dared not relax in the slightest.

He always felt that this was just the calm before the storm...

Suddenly, a crisp knock on the door broke the tense atmosphere inside the defensive tower.

"Dong dong dong..."

"Who is it?" Kong Yang asked warily.

"Excuse me, is this Mr. Lin Yu?" A strange voice came from outside the door.

Lin Yu was slightly taken aback. "Express delivery? I didn't order anything online..." He gestured for Kong Yang to open the door, and a young man in an express delivery uniform walked in, carrying a small, exquisite package.

"Mr. Lin Yu, your package is here. Please sign for it."

Lin Yu took the package and tore it open with a puzzled expression.

Inside was an exquisitely crafted amulet, emitting a faint fragrance.

A small note fluttered down, its delicate handwriting catching the eye: "Silly boy, be careful, I'm here with you." A warm feeling welled up in Lin Yu's heart; Su Yao's love seemed to transcend time and space, warming his heart.

He gripped the amulet tightly, and the pressure around him seemed to lessen considerably.

"This girl..." Lin Yu's lips curled up slightly, his heart filled with strength.

"Hehe, Brother Yu is really lucky with the ladies!" Kong Yang winked and leaned closer, his tone laced with sarcasm. "Your wife is so considerate, unlike some people who just know how to eat my food and drink my drinks..."

Lin Yu laughed and punched him, "Get lost! Are you just jealous? Get back to work!"

However, this warmth did not last long.

A strange noise suddenly came from outside the window, and Lin Yu's expression changed. "Oh no, there's an assassin!"

Before he could finish speaking, a dark figure burst through the window and headed straight for Lin Yu.

The black-clad thieves, still harboring their wicked intentions, actually sent out assassins!

"Good timing!" A glint flashed in Lin Yu's eyes as he skillfully maneuvered the bed to dodge attacks, while simultaneously activating the bed's defense system.

Laser nets, electromagnetic pulses, powerful projectiles...

Various high-tech weapons were deployed in turn, forcing the assassins into a series of retreats.

Kong Yang, standing to the side, stared in disbelief and couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy crap! Brother Yu, this bed of yours is amazing! It's practically a mobile fortress!"

The assassin was agile and ruthless, but Lin Yu was prepared and, relying on the powerful functions of the bed, engaged in a thrilling and exciting battle with the assassin.

With a loud "bang!", the assassin was kicked away by Lin Yu, crashing heavily into the wall and spitting out blood.

"You think you can assassinate me with such meager skills? Go back and tell your boss to wash his neck and wait!" Lin Yu sneered, his eyes blazing with murderous intent.

The crisis was temporarily averted, but Lin Yu felt increasingly uneasy.

He sensed the mysterious power emanating from deep within the ruins growing stronger, as if something was about to burst forth from the earth…

He gazed into the depths of the ruins, his eyes flickering uncertainly. "It seems I have to go and take a look..."

Lin Yu slowly rose and walked into the darkness...
