A bed that traverses countless worlds
Chapter 109 Rebuilding the Homeland: A First Glimmer of Hope
As the smoke and dust cleared, sunlight pierced through the thin mist, illuminating the ravaged Earth.
The once bustling city is now nothing but ruins, as if the end of the world has arrived.
Lin Yu lay on the Starry River Bed, gazing at this heartbreaking scene. Even after countless adventures across worlds, he felt an immense heaviness in his heart.
"Rebuilding our homes is easier said than done..." he sighed softly. It's not as simple as leveling up in a game.
In the ruins, the survivors wandered aimlessly, their eyes vacant, as if they had lost all hope for life.
The air was thick with the scent of death and despair, making it hard to breathe.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and suppressed his negative emotions.
The first step in the reconstruction effort was resource allocation, which proved to be a huge challenge.
Each region and faction hopes to acquire more resources to gain an advantage in the reconstruction of their own region.
The UN general was extremely frustrated; countless coordination meetings had been held, but the arguments continued unabated with no progress.
"Why do they get so many resources while we only get so little?" a representative slammed his fist on the table and angrily questioned.
“That’s right! Our region suffered the most losses and deserves more compensation!” another representative echoed.
The meeting room was in complete chaos, and the general's persuasion was of no use whatsoever.
Lin Yu frowned as he looked at the chaotic situation.
He knew that failing to allocate resources fairly would only exacerbate the conflict and could even trigger new conflicts.
"Everyone, please listen to me!" Lin Yu's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority.
The meeting room gradually quieted down, and everyone's eyes were focused on him.
“I know everyone is anxious and wants to rebuild their homes as soon as possible. However, resources are limited, and we must distribute them fairly so that everyone can benefit.” Lin Yu paused, then continued, “I have a plan…”
Lin Yu's proposed plan is to allocate resources fairly and reasonably based on the degree of disaster and the number of people affected.
Although this plan may not satisfy everyone, it is currently the most feasible one.
However, some selfish forces are unwilling to accept this plan.
They only care about their own interests and have no regard for the overall situation.
"Lin Yu, it's easy for you to talk when you're not in the situation! Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to order us around?" one of the representatives said sarcastically.
“Exactly! Why should we listen to you?” another representative chimed in.
Lin Yu's face darkened, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
"I'll say it again, this is for everyone's benefit! If you insist on breaking the rules, then don't blame me for being impolite!"
"Oh, are you trying to threaten us? You think we're afraid of you?" the representative sneered.
Lin Yu didn't say anything more, he just looked at them coldly.
He slowly raised his hand and pointed to the conference room door. "Now, you have two choices: either accept my proposal, or..." He paused, his gaze sweeping over everyone, "Get out!"
Lin Yu's words were resounding, and the air in the conference room seemed to freeze.
The faces of those clamoring representatives turned pale and then red; they hadn't expected Lin Yu to be so firm.
They were wary of Lin Yu's strength and prestige, and ultimately, they chose to compromise.
“Fine, we’ll do as you say,” one of the representatives said reluctantly.
The others also expressed their agreement.
Seeing these opportunists turn their backs so quickly, Lin Yu felt nothing; he even felt a little amused.
That's it?
Why did you go early?
What a waste of everyone's time!
He was too lazy to waste words with these people and went straight to arranging the reconstruction work.
Under his command, resources were allocated effectively, and reconstruction work in various regions proceeded in an orderly manner.
Reconstruction is not something that can be done overnight.
This isn't like playing a game where you can get stronger by spending money.
We're short-staffed!
Resource shortage!
Lack of technology!
Problems are everywhere!
Lying on the Starry River Bed, Lin Yu directed and coordinated the operations while complaining, "This is even harder than fighting a boss!"
Just then, Kong Yang rushed over, "Lin Yu, something bad has happened! Su Yao is injured!" Upon hearing this, Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately sent the Star River Bed to the scene.
Su Yao lay on the ground, her face pale, with a deep wound on her arm from which blood was flowing freely.
"What happened?" Lin Yu asked anxiously.
"She was hit by a collapsed wall while she was clearing the rubble," Kong Yang explained.
Lin Yu looked at Su Yao with heartache and carefully carried her to the Star River Bed.
Su Yao weakly opened her eyes and saw Lin Yu, her eyes filled with dependence and love.
"Lin Yu..." she called softly.
"Don't speak, I'll take you to get treatment," Lin Yu said gently.
Those around them who witnessed this scene silently offered their blessings to the couple who had gone through so much hardship.
Thanks to the healing properties of the Starry River Bed, Su Yao's injuries quickly stabilized.
She looked at Lin Yu, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Lin Yu." "Silly girl, why are you thanking me?" Lin Yu affectionately patted her head.
Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction, and people were full of hope for the future.
However, beneath this seemingly calm surface, an undercurrent is brewing...
Kong Yang walked to Lin Yu's side, his expression grave. "Lin Yu, I've discovered some strange marks..." Kong Yang pointed to a series of peculiar footprints on the ground and said, "Look, these don't look like human footprints, nor do they resemble the footprints of any animal we know of." Lin Yu observed carefully and found that these footprints were indeed strange, resembling the footprints of some kind of reptile, but much larger than ordinary reptile footprints, and also emitting a faint fishy odor.
"Could it be..." Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat, a terrifying thought surging into his mind, "Could there still be remnants of alien creatures?!"
"Brothers, grab your weapons! Let's get started!" Lin Yu gave the order, and everyone took out their weapons and followed him into the underground passage.
The passageway was dark and damp, filled with a nauseating stench of decay.
Suddenly, a chilling roar came from the depths, followed by a group of bizarre alien creatures rushing out of the darkness!
"Holy crap! What is this thing? It looks even scarier than my ex-girlfriend!" a soldier exclaimed.
"Enough talk! Fire!" Lin Yu roared and pulled the trigger first.
A fierce battle erupted instantly, with the roar of laser guns, energy cannons, and various other weapons echoing throughout the passage.
Although the alien creatures were ferocious, under Lin Yu's command, the troops launched an orderly counterattack and eliminated them one by one.
"As expected of Boss Lin Yu, his command is superb!" a soldier exclaimed excitedly.
After the battle, Alice found Lin Yu.
"Lin Yu, our Elven race is willing to provide a special sapling of the Tree of Life, which can quickly restore Earth's vegetation," she said haughtily. "However, we need you humans..." Alice paused, then proposed a condition that left everyone speechless: "Provide us with a batch of... catnip every year." "Catnip?" Everyone looked at each other, wondering what use that stuff was to the Elven race.
Lin Yu smiled slightly, "Princess Alice, catnip is fine, but I have a better cooperation plan..." After a heated debate, Lin Yu successfully persuaded Alice to cooperate on more reasonable terms.
Everyone was deeply impressed by Lin Yu's negotiation skills.
"Brother Lin Yu, you're a negotiation genius!" Kong Yang gave him a thumbs up.
A few months later, the once ravaged Earth began to come back to life, some cities had been rebuilt, and people's faces were full of smiles.
"Finally, we can live a normal life again!" a citizen exclaimed excitedly.
Lin Yu looked at all this and smiled with satisfaction. However, he knew in his heart that this was only the first step in a long journey.
He walked to the window, gazing at the still barren land outside, and muttered to himself, "The real challenge is yet to come..." He opened the Star Bed system interface and pulled up an Earth ecological environment report. The shocking data on it made him frown.
"Kong Yang, come and take a look..."
