"Why is it snowing...?"

Chun Tao whispered softly beside Xiao Ran, her tone tinged with surprise. Xiao Ran, however, seemed unconcerned, extending her palm and letting the snowflakes gently fall into it.

“Miss! What I’m teaching you today, the old lady already taught you a few years ago, why…” Chun Tao’s gaze drifted to the inner room, where two people were sitting upright, eating with chopsticks and spoons in a very professional manner. Chun Tao couldn’t help but swallow, then shook her head and turned her gaze back to Xiao Ran.

"Why is it that the young lady is not as good at learning as He Wan?"

Chun Tao suddenly felt a slight pain on her forehead. She looked up at Xiao Ran and saw that the girl had a half-smile on her face and her eyes were full of confusion.

"Hungry?" Xiao Ran took out a small oil paper packet from her bosom. "I just took this from inside the house. Eat it."

"This won't do!" Although Chun Tao longed for it, she restrained the urge to reach out and take it. "Miss hasn't eaten anything either..."

Without saying a word, Xiao Ran forcefully stuffed the pastries into Chun Tao's arms.

"I'm being punished, how can I eat?" The snow outside was falling heavier and heavier. Xiao Ran paused for a moment and continued, "It's getting cold. Chun Tao, you should go back to the courtyard. You don't need to stay with me."

Seeing that her daughter was adamant, she simply said, "Alright..."

The maidservant's reluctant departure, turning back every few steps, amused Xiao Ran. However, not long after, a sudden, dull pain shot through her knee.

That's a lingering effect from kneeling in the snow in her past life... Now, the one who started this is still enjoying a delicious meal inside the house, so how can she possibly collapse?

Xiao Ran stood there until 3:45 PM, when a maidservant from Yang's side came to call her.

"Miss Ran, your nanny wants to see you."

Xiao Ran glanced at the maid, only to see that she was very respectful and didn't even raise her head when she spoke.

"I'm going now," Xiao Ran replied calmly, but before she had gone far, she turned back and called out:

"What does the nanny want me to do? I don't want to be hit with the ruler! If she keeps hitting me, I'd rather become a nun!"

Xiao Ran's voice was so loud that the snow on the eaves fell down in a flurry. In particular, the grievance in her voice was hard to ignore.

Madam He happened to be passing by and, upon hearing Xiao Ran's words, couldn't help but chuckle. She turned her head and said to He Wan, who was serving nearby:

"Wan'er, look at this. It's only the first day, and some people are already losing their composure. They're not as good as my Wan'er. She's studied this before. If you ask me, she's just too impatient and restless. She'll never amount to anything."

He's tone was tinged with sarcasm, her gaze intentionally or unintentionally sweeping towards Xiao Ran. Hearing this, He Wan lowered her head slightly, but a faint smile appeared on her lips as she softly echoed, "Mother is right. Learning etiquette requires calmness and patience; it cannot be rushed."

Her voice was gentle and soft, yet every word was clear, as if she deliberately wanted Xiao Ran, who was not far away, to hear it. Madam He nodded in satisfaction, patted He Wan's hand, and said in a tone full of affection, "My Wan'er is so sensible and knows what's important."

The conversation between the mother and daughter was "inadvertently" overheard by the two people in the corridor. Yang Mama's maid suddenly looked up, a hint of embarrassment on her face. She quickly walked to Xiao Ran's side, whispered a few words in a low voice, and looked extremely cautious, as if she were conveying some important secret.

He naturally didn't care about such behavior, and didn't even bother to give it a second glance.

However, He Wan narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze shifting for a moment between Xiao Ran and the maid, secretly calculating in her mind. She turned her head and whispered a few instructions to the maid beside her.

The maid nodded, and taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, she quietly slipped away from the group of Madam He and her daughter, her figure quickly disappearing into the shadows of the corner of the corridor as if she had never been there.
