Su Banxia was completely unaware that Master Bai and the others were talking about her behind her back; she was busy making her crispy pork belly.

The meat must be fried thoroughly to achieve a fragrant and crispy texture. Once it comes out of the fryer, the addition of sweetness creates a sweet but not greasy crispy pork dish.

While cooking, Su Banxia called out to the person next to her:

"Could you please wash that bowl of greens for me and chop some scallions, ginger, and garlic?"

As soon as Su Banxia finished speaking, all the servants inside the room ran out.

Su Banxia found it strange, so she called out to them:

"Where are you going? Get this done for me first!"

The servants ignored Su Banxia and went straight to the backyard to eat melon seeds.

Su Banxia sensed something was wrong, but she couldn't abandon her work at the moment, so she silently started working on it by herself.

Su Banxia quickly took the crispy pork out of the pot, then went to wash the vegetables and chop the scallions, ginger, and garlic.

She was busy like a spinning top all by herself, but fortunately, Su Banxia had cooking experience. Although she was busy and tired, she could still easily cook these dishes.

After working for a while, Su Banxia heard a sarcastic voice behind her.

"You think you can compete with me for the head chef's position? You're still too green!"

Su Banxia turned her head and saw that it was Master Bai standing behind her, staring at her with a half-smile.

Upon hearing this, Su Banxia immediately understood why the people in the kitchen had stopped helping her earlier; it turned out that Master Bai was behind it all.

Thinking this through, Su Banxia didn't give Master Bai a friendly look either.

"Master Bai, what are you saying? What do you mean I'm here to steal the head chef's job from you? The job is given to the most capable person. I'm just here to cook a meal. Are you afraid I'll take your job?"

Master Bai was surprised to see that Su Banxia was so quick-witted, and that his earlier refusal to let the servants in the kitchen do things for her didn't seem to have made things difficult for her.

Seeing that Su Banxia was doing the work in an orderly manner and that the dishes were almost ready, Master Bai couldn't sit still any longer, so he took the initiative to talk to Su Banxia.

But now Su Banxia wasn't afraid of his loud pronouncements, leaving Master Bai speechless. He could only bite the bullet and say:

"Even if you force your way into this kitchen, there's no place for you here. Can't you see that no one listens to you? Everyone has their own standards. Can't you see who has the ability and who can command respect? Why insist on staying here?"

Seeing that Master Bai was relentless, Su Banxia put down her work, turned around and looked at Master Bai.

"First of all, I won't take the chef's job from you. Secondly, your master specially invited me to help cook a meal today. If the meal is not cooked well, you will also be held responsible. If I report you to your master, how will you have a good life?"

As she spoke, Su Banxia stepped forward, stood in front of Master Bai, and stared at him coldly, saying:

"You're really a fool! I bet if you don't cooperate with me to get this meal ready quickly, and the master in front keeps waiting and then blames you, you'll naturally be held responsible. I'm just here to help out; the main responsibility still lies with you."

Master Bai felt a little apprehensive after hearing Su Banxia's words. What she said was perfectly reasonable. The master hadn't even decided whether to hire Su Banxia yet, and he had already lost his composure; it was truly embarrassing.

Thinking this through, Master Bai began by saying:

"This is also a test I'm giving you on behalf of the Lord's family. If you can't even do this small thing well, how could you possibly work in our kitchen? What our kitchen needs right now is someone who can do a little bit of everything, not someone who has to rely on others to do everything."

Su Banxia found Master Bai's sophistry somewhat amusing.

“According to Master Bai, you complete every dish independently, so what do you need the maids and servants in the kitchen for? They are useless anyway. It would be better to keep only you in the kitchen and dismiss them all. This way, you can save your master some money.”

The maids and servants who were eavesdropping behind the door were so frightened by Su Banxia's words that they dared not remain indifferent any longer. If she really went to her master and said that she was a useless person who did nothing in the kitchen, wouldn't they really be fired?

So the maids and servants rushed out from behind the door.

"Who says we don't work? We have endless vegetables to wash, chores to do, and fires to keep burning all day long!"

Su Banxia chuckled softly upon hearing this.

"But you weren't like that when I looked at you just now. Weren't you chatting and eating melon seeds in the back? And you, I saw you drinking tea! You're all not doing any work! How can this mansion support idlers? Could it be that you're related to this young master Lou? Is he willing to spend money to support you?"

As she spoke, Su Banxia glanced around at everyone.

"If that's the case, then I'll have to ask Young Master Lou for some advice. Which family or clan are you related to? How can you be so proud of yourselves, holding the title of servants in this mansion for nothing, while Young Master Lou supports you for free!"

Everyone became anxious upon hearing this.

"Who said that? Who said our master is supporting us for nothing! I've said it before, we have to work every day!"

Su Banxia raised an eyebrow and looked at the person who spoke.

"But today I saw it with my own eyes and it's not like what you said. Today it's green vegetables, and I prepared all the scallions myself, as you all saw. When I assigned tasks, no one was willing to step forward and help. Everyone was very relaxed and at ease!"

As soon as Su Banxia finished speaking, an older woman walked directly up to Master Bai.

"Master Bai, you have to stand up for us! You can't just let this little slut tarnish our reputation. If our master finds out, what will he think of us? We've been working so hard every day! Now we're going to have to bear this blame for nothing. Where can we go to seek justice?"

Upon hearing this, Master Bai looked at Su Banxia with a troubled expression.

“What Granny Li said is right. She does work tirelessly every day. Stop making trouble here. You’ve only been here for one day. How do you know she doesn’t work?”

As he spoke, Master Bai coughed a few times.

"Actually, I gave them a day off today. They've been busy for so many days, they deserve a rest. This way, I can also see if your skills are just talk!"

Su Banxia found this somewhat amusing.

"Whether my skills are just boasting or not, when do I need Master Bai to judge them?"
