Chapter 76 Meeting the Future Mother-in-Law

The autumn rain has a box of colorful paints; look, it gave the yellow color to the ginkgo.

The yellow leaves fluttered and fluttered, like a small fan, fanning away the summer heat;

She gave the color red to the maple tree. The red maple leaves fluttered down, like stamps, mailing in the splendor of autumn.

She gave her love to her destined one. Pairs of butterflies danced gracefully, like pairs of lovers, ensuring that they would eventually be together.

The autumn rain was continuous, refreshing and cool. Kong Xiufang stood anxiously waiting at the entrance of the garment factory, holding an umbrella.

The misty rain creates a dreamlike atmosphere, with a touch of romance permeating the tranquility.

A figure appeared leisurely in the misty rain in the distance.

Lin Junhui rode his bicycle up to her.

She has a fair, oval face, sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, a high nose bridge, and large, double-lidded eyes.

His back was straight as a pine tree, his long legs stretched out straight, his feet on the ground, supporting him on the bicycle.

Kong Xiufang saw this and quickly pushed the umbrella over his head.

Rang said, "Are you stupid? You came to see me in the rain. Didn't you even wear a raincoat?"

Lin Junhui looked at her and grinned foolishly, "It's okay, it's just a light drizzle, you won't get wet. Look, your clothes are still dry."

Kong Xiufang reached out and touched his chest; thankfully, it wasn't wet. She then said, "How about we don't go to your house today? It's inconvenient in the rain."

Lin Junhui pretended to be angry and aggrieved, saying, "No way~ It's been so long, you've been working overtime every day and haven't had a single free moment. You finally have a vacation, so just go! Okay, please!"

“My mother has asked me several times, saying that I lied to her and that I don’t have a girlfriend at all. She said that if I don’t bring you back to meet her this time, she won’t let me into the house.”

Lin Junhui looked pitiful and cute, with tears in his eyes, gazing at her with a pitiful expression. He looked exactly like a wronged little wife.

Kong Xiufang was charmed by his puppy-like appearance; this man was so pleasing to the eye. He was totally channeling Lin Daiyu (a character from the classic Chinese novel *Dream of the Red Chamber*).

Without any resistance, I agreed.

He leaped onto the back of the bicycle with a sudden movement. He held the umbrella in one hand and grabbed the back seat with the other.

Lin Junhui quickly got on his bike and pedaled home as fast as he could.

The main road was a bit far, so he chose to take the side road.

The path wasn't very smooth, and there was a small puddle ahead. Lin Junhui deliberately rode into the puddle.

He said, "Hold on tight. The path is rough and a bit bumpy. Why don't you put your arm around my waist? Otherwise, you'll be thrown off and that would be troublesome."

Startled, Kong Xiufang quickly wrapped her arms around his slender waist, encircling half of his body.

The smooth lines of her abdominal muscles were clearly visible. It felt great to the touch—hot and hard—and Kong Xiufang blushed slightly, feeling a little embarrassed.

The bicycle happened to ride into a puddle, and with a "thump," it made Kong Xiufang jump up.

Then I suddenly fell back down. My butt hurt terribly. Kong Xiufang said, "Ride slower, the road here is too bumpy."

Lin Junhui smiled secretly, feeling very pleased with himself! He said, "Oh! Okay. You stopped it, don't let it fall."

Soon we saw his house.

As they approached the gate, Kong Xiufang exclaimed, "Oh no, I forgot to bring a gift!"

Lin Junhui stopped the car, took out a uniquely patterned silk scarf from his pocket, and handed it to her.

He explained, "This is a gift I prepared for you when we first met. It's perfect for my mother."

Kong Xiufang took the silk scarf and examined it. It was indeed beautiful and very suitable for her mother's age.

It turns out he has a good eye; the silk scarf he bought was quite nice.

Kong Xiufang was deeply moved. This man was so thoughtful; he had even considered her needs.

If it hadn't rained, she definitely would have brought a gift. She had originally planned not to come today, but to come next week.

But Lin Junhui had already come to pick her up, and she had to go so as not to disappoint him.

Kong Xiufang, holding a silk scarf, followed Lin Junhui into the courtyard.

A goose was playing in the rain with two ducklings in the yard. When it saw a stranger, it called out "Goose~ Goose~ Goose~" and ran away.

A coughing sound came from inside the house, and Lin Junhui quickly called out, "Mom, we're back."

The curtain was lifted, and a kind-faced but slightly haggard middle-aged woman came out.

Lin Junhui took Kong Xiufang's hand and said, "Mother, this is Xiufang."

Kong Xiufang handed over the silk scarf with a touch of shyness: "Auntie, it's nice to meet you, this is just a small token of my appreciation."

Song Shiyue took the silk scarf, beaming from ear to ear: "You've come all this way, why did you bring anything? Come on in."

The house was simple yet clean and tidy. Song Shiyue held Kong Xiufang's hand and asked her all sorts of questions, from her work to her family. Kong Xiufang answered them one by one, and Lin's mother became more and more satisfied as she listened.

Suddenly, a commotion broke out outside. It turned out that the neighbor's child was being mischievous, chasing ducklings and wandering into the yard.

Lin Junhui went out to comfort her, and Kong Xiufang followed to help. Seeing how sensible Kong Xiufang was, Lin's mother nodded to herself, thinking that her son had really found a good girl.

After finishing their business, the three returned to the house, their laughter echoing through the autumn-tinged courtyard.

After chatting for a while, Song Shiyue went to the kitchen to cook, and Kong Xiufang prepared to help out.

Song Shiyue pushed her into Lin Junhui's room and said, "No need, no need, you are a guest, how can I let you do any work?"

Seeing the enthusiastic mother-in-law, Kong Xiufang couldn't refuse and could only stay in Lin Junhui's room.

Lin Junhui also wanted to go to the kitchen to help, but his mother stopped him.

We finally found such a beautiful and sensible daughter-in-law, how could we possibly infringe on their time alone?

At this moment, Kong Xiufang was looking around Lin Junhui's room. There were some old posters on the wall and several books neatly arranged on the table.

Curious, she opened a book and found a withered yellow maple leaf tucked inside, as if it had been treasured for a long time.

At this moment, Lin Junhui quietly pushed the door open and came in. When he saw the book in her hand, his face turned slightly red. He scratched his head and said, "I picked that up when I was a child. I thought it was pretty, so I kept it." Kong Xiufang smiled gently.

Before long, Song Shiyue called for dinner. The table was laden with sumptuous dishes, emitting an enticing aroma.

Song Shiyue kept putting food on Kong Xiufang's plate, saying, "Xiufang, eat more, you're so thin."

Just as everyone was enjoying their meal, someone suddenly knocked on the door. Lin Junhui opened the door and saw that it was the factory's leader.

It turned out that the rain had stopped, and the leader was passing by and decided to check on the employees' living conditions.

Seeing this heartwarming scene, the leader nodded repeatedly in praise. After exchanging pleasantries, the leader left.

As evening fell after dinner, the sky cleared. After Kong Xiufang helped clean up the dishes, Lin Junhui rode his bicycle to take her back to her dormitory.

The two chatted about many things along the way, laughing and joking, and time seemed to fly by.

They walked slowly along the path they had come from, the moonlight shining on them as if draping a silver veil over their beautiful relationship.
