Chapter 217 Yun Ya Gets Beaten
Chapter 217 Yun Ya Gets Beaten
Yunya said, "Okay, I'll play with you in a bit. I'll put my bundle in the room first."
Sun Guoqiang followed Yunya into the house. The neighbor's child also followed them inside.
Kong Xiujuan came out of the kitchen and said as she walked into the house, "Yunya, is that you back?"
Yunya put her bundle on her bed and walked out of the room. She had just stepped out of the bedroom when she saw her mother walking towards her in the living room.
Yunya asked, "Mom, did you ask Feifei to call in sick for me?"
Kong Xiujuan complained, "And you're right! You knew school started today, so why didn't you come back early yesterday? You really brought trouble upon yourself."
Yunya said, "I was thinking of spending the Lantern Festival at my grandma's house, right? I'm only in first grade, not in middle or high school yet, so what's wrong with spending it a day later!"
Kong Xiujuan ruffled her hair: "You're just a smooth talker; you use all your skills on your mouth. If you were this good at studying, you wouldn't be getting beaten up all the time."
Yunya lowered her head and stubbornly retorted, "It's not my fault that I was hit, it's because the teacher is too mean. Our art teacher never hits anyone."
Kong Xiujuan was furious and shouted, "If you used the same amount of energy you use to argue on your studies, you could also get an award. Look at your sister, she always gets awards for her exams, you should learn from her."
Yunya burst into tears after being scolded: "Is it my fault? I want to do well in school too. Who doesn't want to get high scores, win awards, and be praised by the teacher? But I'm not smart enough to remember things. I don't understand math problems either. Can you blame me?"
Kong Xiujuan was completely enraged and roared, "Tell me, what good are you to come back? You'd be better off staying in the countryside. Don't come back and upset me. For every word I say, you'll have ten more coming your way!"
Yunya was heartbroken. She had always felt that her mother didn't like her and that everyone in her family treated her like an outsider, and it seemed that it was true.
She cried and yelled, "Who wants to come back? If Grandma hadn't made me come back to go to school, I wouldn't have wanted to come back at all! It's all your fault. You took me to the countryside to raise me after I was born. I was premature, and my brain wasn't fully developed yet. Instead of keeping me with you and taking good care of me, you abandoned me in the countryside. I'm bad at studying because I'm not smart, not because I don't want to learn!"
Yun Ya screamed at the top of her lungs, terrifying Sun Guoqiang and the child. They cowered in the corner, some even crying.
Sun Guoqiang originally wanted to rush into Kong Xiujuan's arms. But Kong Xiujuan was acting somewhat erratically, so Sun Guoqiang could only cry and run to the corner of the wall.
Kong Xiujuan was speechless with anger, and in a fit of rage, she grabbed the broom behind the door and struck Yun Ya's leg. Yun Ya felt her calf trembling and burning with pain.
Kong Xiujuan was rendered speechless by Yun Ya's retort; it was they who had sent the child away. What could she say now?
The sentence they said most often was: "Yunya, when you grow up, you must be filial to your maternal and paternal grandparents. They raised you with great care. Without their care, you would have starved to death long ago."
Yunya is not a child anymore and knows she should be filial to her maternal and paternal grandparents. Her grandparents treat her well and love her dearly, so she will take good care of them even if her mother doesn't say anything.
But these parents only think about shirking their responsibilities. Instead, they often use the debt of gratitude they owe Yunya to repay her for raising them. What about their obligations and responsibilities? They are simply erased.
Yunya was still crying when Kong Xiujuan continued to spank her bottom, hitting the spot where she had previously received an injection.
The excruciating pain made Yunya scream and howl. She yelled like a madwoman, "Ouch...ah...it hurts...it hurts! You...you hit the injection site on me!"
Kong Xiujuan only came to her senses and stopped what she was doing when she heard Yun Ya's voice change and sound like she was being skinned alive.
At this moment, Yunya was sitting on the ground, clutching her bottom and crying. Kong Xiujuan realized she might have hurt her, so she bent down and said, "Should we take her to the clinic?"
Yun Ya didn't reply to her, but only glanced at her with eyes full of hatred, tears streaming down her face. She got up and limped back to the bedroom, clutching her buttocks.
He went back to his bedroom, closed the door, climbed onto the bed, and licked his wounds like a wounded dog.
Kong Xiujuan wanted to go inside to check on Yunya, but she was too embarrassed to go. She had lost control of her emotions earlier and hit her quite hard.
She felt that as the mother and parent, she had done nothing wrong; she was just angry with the child, so it was no wonder she hit her hard.
What kind of child talks back like that? It's because she's been spoiled in the countryside that she's become so unruly.
Thinking this through, Kong Xiujuan stopped worrying about Yunya. She turned around, picked up her son from the corner, and went to the kitchen.
The neighbor's child had already run home. He dared not stay here to play any longer; Aunt Kong was terrifying when she got angry.
Yunya was still crying in bed when Sun Limei came home from school. When she got home, she saw that no one was in the yard.
Hearing a noise from the kitchen, I went in and saw my mother leading my younger brother to taste the meat in the dishes.
She exclaimed with delight, "Mom, we're having stewed meat today!"
When Kong Xiujuan saw her eldest daughter, who was well-behaved and sensible, she smiled and said, "Yes, I made braised cabbage and pork with vermicelli today."
Sun Limei clapped her hands happily: "Oh, great! Great! We get to eat meat!"
Listening to her sister's joyful cheers from the kitchen, Yunya felt like an unwanted person.
Her father doesn't love her, her mother doesn't care about her, and her older sister and younger brother don't like her either. All she wants now is to go back to her maternal grandmother's house; that's where her home is.
Yunya cried even harder. She was now comparing her mother and grandmother and realized that her grandmother was better and had never hit her.
Yunya was feeling sad in her bedroom when she heard Sun Limei skipping and hopping into the room.
She saw the blankets were bulging and trembling, and guessed that it was her younger sister inside. She wondered why her sister was hiding under the covers in broad daylight.
She lifted the covers and saw Yunya trembling and crying. She asked softly, "Yunya, what's wrong?"
Yunya didn't answer and continued crying. Sun Limei didn't ask any more questions and turned to go to the kitchen.
She ran to the kitchen and whispered to her mother, "Mom, why is Yunya crying in the room? What's wrong with her?"
Kong Xiujuan said angrily, "She was disobedient and talked back, so I hit her."
Sun Limei immediately shut her mouth. She dared not provoke her angry mother; her mother's temper was terrifying.
After Kong Xiujuan finished speaking, she took the plate of food to the living room. Sun Limei obediently helped her carry the bowls and chopsticks.
These used to be Yunya's chores, but now Sun Limei has taken over. Sun Limei went back to the kitchen, carried the basket of steamed buns, and put it on the table in the living room.
Kong Xiujuan instructed, "Go and call Yunya over for dinner; she has to go to school this afternoon."
Sun Limei obediently went into the bedroom and called Yunya. Yunya's face was covered in tears, making her look like a big, messy cat.
Her eyes were red from crying, and she limped to the living room to sit down. She wasn't stupid; if she got angry and refused to eat, her mother wouldn't feel sorry for her, and might not even leave her any food.
The Sunday before last winter break was like this: she and her sister fought over the blanket, she scolded her sister, and their mother hit them both.
The next day at mealtime, my older sister ate as usual, but she got angry and didn't eat, so my mother didn't leave her any food.
He also said, "Kids can be temperamental and cause all sorts of trouble. Just let them go hungry for a meal, and they'll be perfectly obedient and listen to you."
From that time on, she felt that her mother had changed and was no longer the kind person who had treated her when she first came back from the countryside.
Perhaps in the beginning, I was afraid she would make a scene and go back to the village, so I tolerated her. The mother I know now is the most authentic mother.
