Chapter 193 Father and Son Do Carpentry

After cleaning up, Yunya dragged her tired body into the classroom.

There were three classes in the morning, and only one class left. Yunya wasn't feeling well, but she wasn't dizzy or nauseous anymore, and she could sit in her seat and listen to the lesson.

After the last class ended, the male students in the class crowded out of the classroom.

Sun Fei asked Yun Ya, "Yun Ya, are you feeling better now? Do you still feel nauseous?"

Yunya said, "I don't feel nauseous anymore, and my head isn't dizzy anymore. I just feel tired, a little sore, and weak."

Sun Fei helped her up, saying, "Come on, let's go home together." The two of them supported each other as they hurried home.

Passing by the small clinic on their street, Yunya said to Sun Fei, "Feifei, let's go to the clinic and ask what's wrong?"

Sun Fei nodded and followed Yun Ya into the small clinic. The doctor at this clinic was their old neighbor, so they all knew each other.

Yunya explained her situation to the old man. The old man said, "From your description, it's obvious you caught a cold. Did you eat any cold food last night or kick off the covers while sleeping?"

Yunya suddenly realized, "Oh! Grandpa, my blanket ran away last night, and I woke up from the cold."

The old doctor said, "Yes, that's how it is. You need to be careful to keep warm in the future, otherwise you'll get used to the illness and start vomiting when you catch a chill."

Yunya nodded: "Okay, thank you, sir. Do I still need to take my medicine?"

The old doctor said, "If you're not nauseous anymore, then you don't need to take the medicine. If you're still nauseous, you'll have to take it."

Yunya felt much better, so she said goodbye and went home. Sun Fei saw her to the gate before going home herself.

When Kong Xiujuan got home, she didn't notice Yun Ya's sallow complexion. She carried the soup pot into the living room.

The dishes were already laid out on the table. As usual, Kong Xiujuan instructed Yunya, "Yunya, bring the basket of steamed buns from the kitchen. It's time to eat."

Yun Ya didn't move, sitting on the stool with her head drooping and no energy at all. Seeing that Yun Ya didn't move, Kong Xiujuan called her name again. Yun Ya still didn't move.

She muttered, "What's wrong with this child today? Why is he so lazy?"

After saying that, she ran to the kitchen, picked up a basket of steamed buns, and came back to the living room.

In the living room, Sun Limei and Sun Guoqiang had already started eating. Sun Guoqiang used his small wooden bowl to scoop some food, brought it to his side, and began to learn how to use chopsticks to pick up food.

Kong Xiujuan brought over the steamed bun basket and distributed the hot steamed buns inside to the children. When it was Yunya's turn, Yunya didn't take any, and Kong Xiujuan gave her a suspicious look.

"Yunya, what's wrong with you! Why aren't you eating your steamed buns or saying anything?"

Yunya said weakly, "I was sick at school today. I felt dizzy, nauseous, and wanted to vomit. I have no strength at all."

Kong Xiujuan then noticed that Yun Ya's complexion was abnormal; it was much yellower and paler than usual. It was clearly the appearance of someone who had been ill.

She said, "What happened? Did you go to the clinic? Come on, let's go to the clinic." As she spoke, she got up and pulled Yunya to go see a doctor.

Yunya waved her hand: "Mom, there's no need to go. I already went to see him when I came back. Grandpa Li said he caught a chill last night and it's nothing serious."

Kong Xiujuan said, "Oh! It's good that you know what happened. From now on, you should behave yourself when you sleep at night and not kick off the covers."

Yunya said aggrievedly, "Mom, it's not that I'm a restless sleeper and kick off the blanket, it's that my sister took the blanket away and I couldn't pull it back, so I woke up cold in the middle of the night."

Kong Xiujuan felt she had said the wrong thing again, as if she didn't really care about her daughter.

She didn't even notice that her second daughter looked so unwell when she came home from school, and even told her to bring her food. Now she feels a little guilty.

To make her second daughter feel better, she also scolded her eldest daughter.

"Limei, you better sleep properly from now on, so your little sister doesn't get cold again."

Sun Limei said nonchalantly, "Mom, it's not my fault. I was asleep at night and pulled my sister's blanket without even realizing it!"

Kong Xiujuan was also helpless and could only say, "You two just need to be careful." In the end, she couldn't find a solution.

Yunya said, "Mom, can I have my own blanket? My sister and I will sleep separately."

Kong Xiujuan said with difficulty, "There aren't many beds at home, so the two of you will have to make do with one bed. There aren't enough blankets either. In a few days, it will snow and get even colder, so the two of you will need two blankets. If you have to separate, you'll need four blankets, but we don't have that many blankets at home right now."

Yunya thought to herself with a long face, "It seems that it is still better to stay at Grandma's house. Grandma wakes up at night to cover herself with a blanket."

Sun Limei didn't express any opinion; after all, it wasn't her who was suffering from the cold.

Kong Xiujuan added, "I'll give each of you a quilt when things are a bit better at home! For now, you'll just have to bear with it."

Yunya didn't say anything more. Her grandmother told her to listen to her mother and to be understanding of her mother and father's difficulties.

The family began to eat around the table. Yunya ate a few simple dishes, drank a bowl of soup, and ate half a steamed bun, making do with what she had.

After finishing her meal, she lay down on the bed to rest. Sun Limei and Sun Guoqiang were watching TV in the living room.

Kong Xiujuan was clearing away the dishes, preparing to go to the kitchen to wash them. Just then, she heard Sun Zitao's voice from outside.

"Xiujuan, come and help me!"

Kong Xiujuan quickly wiped the water off her hands with a rag and went out to see what help Sun Zitao needed.

Sun Zitao was carrying a large log, and Kong Xiujuan quickly helped him drag it to the ground.

Kong Xiujuan asked curiously, "Zitao, what are you doing with this big piece of wood?"

Sun Zitao patted the dust off the wood and said, "This is a good thing. I plan to make it into a wardrobe. Our clothes are always scattered around the house. It will be much more convenient to have a wardrobe."

Kong Xiujuan's eyes lit up: "Wow, you're really good at this! But we don't have any tools at home, how are we going to do it? Besides, you don't know how either!"

Sun Zitao scratched his head: "I borrowed some tools from Old Zhang in the next alley, and I'll slowly tinker with it."

Yunya felt a little better. Hearing the commotion outside, she forced herself to get up and walk to the door.

Seeing that big log, an idea suddenly came to mind: "Dad, if we make too much of this log, can I have the leftover scraps?"

Sun Zitao asked in confusion, "What do you need that for?"

Yun Ya smiled and said, "I'd like to try making some small gadgets, like wooden combs or something."

Sun Zitao laughed and said, "Alright, as long as you have the energy to mess around."

In the days that followed, Sun Zitao would spend his free time in the yard making a racket and building wardrobes.

Yunya also watched from the sidelines when she had a spare moment, occasionally picking up a few suitable scraps to tinker with in the room.

A week passed slowly, and she eagerly awaited the creation of her first wooden product.

Unfortunately, neither of them succeeded.

Kong Xiujuan sighed, "I told you not to mess around, but you two just wouldn't listen. Look, you've been tinkering for a week and haven't come up with anything. You're just wasting your time and energy."

Yunya looked at her father, and they exchanged a glance. The two of them simultaneously pouted, unable to refute.
