Annie's Otherworldly Adventure

33. Choose your reward – Monster Egg

According to the divine histories of the Temple of Light and the Temple of Hope:

During the War of the Gods, the gods fought each other. The God of Darkness defeated the Goddess of War who was protecting the peace of the continent. The Goddess of War fell, the God of Darkness disappeared, and the God of Space also disappeared. The God of Light fell into a deep sleep after this battle.

The Goddess of Life led her beloved elves to migrate to the elven islands in the southern seas, never to return to the continent. The Dragon God and the dragon race also vanished from the continent of Gerson.

On the continent, only the Goddess of Hope, the God of the Underworld, and the Goddess of Ice and Snow remain.

After the war, the God of the Underworld continued to rule the underworld, the Goddess of Ice and Snow lived year-round on the icy continent of the north, and only the Goddess of Hope continued to bestow light and hope upon people on earth.

The higher-ups in Kane only knew this much about the War of the Gods, and the temple did not reveal the cause of the War of the Gods.

The Kane Empire had stood on the continent for centuries, and the Kane Royal Magic Academy, due to its growing reputation, had gradually neglected its defenses. This incident dealt a heavy blow to the academy.

Whether Tiren's incident was a small, isolated event or a resurgence of dark forces within the group was unclear to everyone. However, everyone had a vague feeling that the continent was about to become turbulent.

Professor Elaine's death was treated as an accident. To mourn Elaine, the school suspended classes for a few days. Garrett used these days to conduct a thorough investigation of the school with the higher-ups.

However, there were no clues, as if Tyren's case was truly an isolated incident involving only him.

So, did he feign serious injury to escape? Has his strength become that terrifying?

Annie knew nothing about any of this. It was a week later that the dark corruption on her body was almost completely purified and she left the special intensive care unit.

The alchemy students cheered enthusiastically, as if welcoming a hero's return.

Because of Anne, the first alchemist in history to receive the title of Purple Rose Warrior!

The school's final explanation for the incident was that Annie skillfully used alchemical artifacts and, with the right timing, location, and people, defeated Tyren. Tyren was expelled from the school for using forbidden magic to kill Tyren.

Since learning the news, the alchemy students were overjoyed, their faces beaming with happiness. Most of them had given their items to Anne at that time, so everyone shared in Anne's victory.

While everyone was celebrating excitedly, someone else was unhappy: our noble Miss Lily—the leader of the Noble Ladies Alliance of the Ministry of Magic.

"Why did that Anne get the purple rose award? Humph, she just cheated and used tricks!" The noble lady next to Lily said indignantly.

In fact, by the day after the competition, everyone knew about the Alchemy Department's "despicable and shameless" tactics. Some people were disdainful, some were speechless... In short, this victory was probably, perhaps, possibly, well, it was indeed somewhat of an unfair victory.

The alchemy students didn't expect this outcome at first. It can only be said that this is the blessing of the gods. Annie Aishe, the pride of the alchemy department!

"Oh, Anne, my dear, you are our pride!" Joyce exclaimed dramatically, as if performing a theatrical act, leading the students to each present a red rose to Anne.

"Yes, Annie, you are our pride!"

Soon, Anne was overwhelmed by roses.

Uh, could anyone spare a thought that she's a poor soul recovering from an injury? Even Abag ran away early; it didn't want to be harassed by the alchemy students again. Ah, it turns out, the most terrifying thing is a repressed pervert! The bookworms of the alchemy department have hearts of passion no less than mages and warriors!

Despite her helplessness, seeing everyone's excited faces filled Annie's heart with joy. It was wonderful to have a group of people who cared about her.

"Hey, hey, you over there, the one who got the purple rose, Anne Ash, go collect your prize!" a magic student shouted outside the alchemy classroom.

The alchemy students quieted down; right, they had almost forgotten about it.

"Furthermore, Professor Elaine passed away not long ago. Can you show a little compassion and consider the grief of the Ministry of Magic students?" the magic student continued rudely.

Some of the alchemy students wanted to object, but Annie stopped them.

In the past few days, it seemed that a lot had happened. Because Annie was injured, the little spy Abag didn't go out to eavesdrop on any news, but instead stayed obediently with her. So this was the first time Annie had heard about it.

A teacher at the school has passed away? At this critical juncture?

"I'm sorry, we got too emotional. We offer our sincerest condolences to our deceased teacher." Anne bowed solemnly towards the Ministry of Magic. The students from the Ministry of Magic grunted and then dropped the matter.

"Go claim your reward now!"

After saying that, the students from the Ministry of Magic left.

Realizing they had gone too far, the alchemy students gave Anne the roses and then left. Joyce and Jane were the last to leave, telling Anne to hurry up and collect her reward from the Ministry of Magic.

The rewards this time are twofold: first, a monster egg; and second, territorial rights to Balan Island and the conferment of a noble title.

The title and territory would be bestowed upon her personally by Henry V upon her later, while the monster eggs would be displayed in the Monster Management Room of the Ministry of Magic, for her to choose from.

It is said that there is a mysterious bond between magical beasts and their masters, which is why Joyce and Jane let Annie choose for herself. In their view, Annie is a child favored by the gods and will surely be able to choose the best magical beast egg.

"Isn't this the new Purple Rose Warrior?" A sharp voice rang out. Annie looked and, sure enough, it was her old enemy—Miss Lily, the noblewoman, leading her group of noble ladies in an alliance.

For some reason, this Miss Lily just can't stand Annie.

In fact, there are not many people who can stand this Miss Lily. This is probably what adolescent restlessness is like.

Anne really didn't want to talk to Miss Lily, but she still politely bowed to her.

Good afternoon, Miss Lily.

"Hmph!" Lily snorted coldly, watching Annie walk into the display shelf of monster eggs in the management room.

On the display shelf, there were about a dozen monster eggs, all of them rare and exotic creatures. Annie glanced at them briefly but didn't find anything particularly special about them.

The administrator came in and introduced the staff to Annie.

"These monster eggs are very precious; you can choose any you like."

The monster eggs here are all rare monster eggs collected and treasured by the school over the years, and are specially used as rewards for students.

Monsters in nature are divided into oviparous and non-oviparous types, and the methods of forming contracts with the two types of monsters are different.

The method of contracting non-egg-laying magical beasts is taming. Taming a magical beast and making it voluntarily contract with you has a problem: low-level magical beasts are easy to tame but lack the meaning of a contract, while high-level magical beasts are difficult to tame.

Monsters can be tamed and contracted after hatching, or they can be contracted directly from the egg before hatching. This contracting method only requires a certain contracting ritual. Therefore, if a high-level monster egg can be obtained, even children can form contracts, which is why schools reward monster eggs.

Lily and her group seemed to have no intention of leaving, instead watching Annie choose a magic egg.

Anne ignored them and continued choosing on her own.

Suddenly, someone came to see the administrator, who had to temporarily hand the matter over to his assistant. Fortunately, it wasn't a big deal; the monster eggs here were all precious, and Annie wouldn't lose out no matter which one she chose.

Annie walked from one end to the other, examining all the monster eggs. Just as she reached the very back, a monster egg on the shelf suddenly fell into Annie's arms.

Annie, holding the monster egg, turned to look at the management assistant in surprise. She clearly saw the assistant subtly move the monster egg so that it fell into her arms.

"Wow, you have a good eye for monster eggs!" Lily and the other students laughed strangely, leaving Annie completely bewildered.

"Since you've made your choice, I'll register you." The assistant said, registering the information in the register without waiting for Annie's reply.

Annie then realized that Lily and the others had probably conspired to trick her, and because she hadn't fully recovered from the dark magic, she had fallen for their scheme.

Gods above, by the time Annie's brain had processed all these reactions, the matter was already settled...

Uh, well, cough cough, the real reason Annie was distracted wasn't that the magical corruption wasn't completely healed, but that her attention was drawn to the monster egg. Inexplicably, Annie felt that this egg was very mysterious, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why. Perhaps, she was just destined to be with this monster egg.

And so, Annie had no choice but to leave with the pure white monster egg in her arms.

"Oh, right, Purple Rose Warrior, I forgot to tell you, this monster egg can only hatch by forming a life contract with a monster." Lily reminded Annie again before she left, seemingly out of the blue.

"Thank you for the reminder, Miss Lily." Annie decided to ignore her, after all, she didn't even know how to form a contract with a magical beast.

Annie, clutching the monster egg, neither returned to her dorm nor went to the classroom. Since she was recovering from her injuries, she could skip class openly. However, she knew absolutely nothing about monster contracts, so she decided to go to the library to find information.

Shortly after Annie went to the library, the students in the Alchemy Department also received the news that Annie had chosen the purest, whitest monster egg from the administration office.

"What?! Annie chose that monster egg?!" someone who knew the situation exclaimed.

"Yeah, what's wrong? Was that monster egg low-level?"

Joyce was also stunned: "It's not low-level at all. You could say that the monster egg is the most precious one in the collection. It was the property of the famous magician Maysfield in history."

"Really? That means Annie made the right choice, right?"

"

"No, no, no, it's wrong, it's terribly wrong!" Joyce finally shouted.

Gods above, no one knows this egg better than him. This egg is really not a good choice!

So why? Why are these poor monster eggs looked down upon?
