Annie's Otherworldly Adventure

23 The night the crisis struck

Silver Wolf's principle is unity. Since the two of them have joined the team, they should look out for each other. This is the opinion of most of the team members. So, apart from the warrior Willie, the others have a decent attitude towards Anthony and Moore.

There are two female members in the Silver Wolves team, but of course, we're not including Anthony, because she's now Anthony, and Anthony is now a boy. Please remember that.

The team consists of two female members, a warrior and a mage. Interestingly, the female warrior is burly but has a gentle temperament, while the female mage is charming but has a fiery temper. Add to that the seemingly dignified but actually kind-hearted captain, David, and the female member disguised as a boy, and this team is truly a place where roles are reversed.

Perhaps it was due to their nature, but the two female team members, whether it was the gentle and strong female warrior Lucy or the fiery and charming female magician Stine, treated Anthony and Mor better than others.

The Silver Wolves usually sleep and rest in pairs. The two female members are always together, and the two new members were also assigned to the same group. At first, Anthony was a little awkward, worried that Moore would get too close to him and give away their secret. But Moore also seemed reluctant to get close to people. Although the two were assigned to the same group, they would keep their distance from each other.

Overall, Anthony was quite satisfied with the start of this trial.

Silver Wolf and his companions escorted Lord Sherlock into the Monster Forest.

In the Monster Forest, the trees provide ample shade and the bushes grow thick. Although it is on the edge, there are still many monsters. Occasionally, they can encounter third or fourth-tier monsters, which the Silver Wolf group can easily deal with by working together.

Anthony found it strange that when he and Abag came out of the Monster Forest, they didn't encounter a single monster of even slightly higher level. They had come from the very center of the Monster Forest! Of course, Anthony wasn't one to dwell on things he couldn't understand.

Through several encounters with monsters, Anthony discovered that the other team members grouped him and Moore not because they were unwilling to mentor newcomers, but because they had no intention of having them fight. All along, they had only been assigned light tasks, and when battles broke out, they were made to stand in the rear, ostensibly to protect Lord Sherlock, but in reality, to protect them as well.

Without the captain's orders, Anthony knew he couldn't act rashly, even though he was really itching to do it. But in teamwork, obedience is the most important thing.

For some reason, Moore seemed to have no objection to this arrangement and was content to be protected by others.

The food in the team was quite poor, except for Lord Sherlock and his entourage, who ate fragrant dried meat, dried fruit, nuts, and other dry rations prepared in advance.

Neither of the two female team members had any talent in this area; they would just stew vegetables and meat together in one pot, add a few dry rations and biscuits, and that would be their meal.

Those who had lived as mercenaries for years seemed to have gotten used to this kind of diet, which was tough on Anthony and Moore.

Moore is a rather mysterious person. He doesn't talk much, but he does his best to do what the captain tells him. When eating, he frowns, complains about the taste, and then simply stops eating. Although Anthony also complains, he at least eats a little bit. Wilderness life is all about physical endurance!

Two days later, Anthony finally had no choice but to volunteer to take on the cooking duties. First, the little guy Abag started to protest; second, he couldn't bear to watch his teammate's "self-torture"; and third, he himself couldn't take it anymore...

Using the ingredients the team brought, plus whatever was available, Anthony made a dish of stewed meat with the same vegetables, and the taste was truly delicious!

The next ten days or so went exceptionally smoothly. In the morning, Captain David told Anthony that they would arrive at Lord Sherlock's territory the next day and asked her to cook the remaining ingredients so that everyone could have a good meal tonight.

Anthony was overjoyed to hear this news, because after dropping off Lord Sherlock, the Silver Wolf team would be venturing deep into the Monster Forest to fight monsters on their way back, and she would finally have a chance to test her skills.

"Anthony, you've never traveled far before, have you? Don't be afraid, we know this road well, we'll protect you!" The female magician, Shi Dili, said boldly, staring at the delicious food cooking in the pot.

“Yes, Anthony, we will all protect you.” The gentle female warrior Lucy said to Anthony, but her eyes were already darting towards the food.

"Annie, I will protect you too!" came Abag's childish voice.

Since Anthony showcased his culinary skills, his status within the team has risen significantly, especially among his two older sisters, who have become even more affectionate towards him.

Uh, women are all foodies...

It wasn't that his cooking was necessarily that good, since he was making mainland cuisine, which wasn't something he was very good at. However, in the wilderness, this kind of food was already considered a delicacy, even more tempting than the dry rations that Lord Sherlock had brought, because Lord Sherlock eventually came over and ate with them.

Anthony smiled brightly at his two older sisters, then lowered his head to continue stirring the food in the pot.

He was dressed in a magic robe and an apron, looking completely out of place. If Jane knew, she would definitely scold him. But, food is the most important thing for people, so he couldn't care less. Besides, Jane wouldn't know, right? Hehe.

The power of good food is truly amazing; even Moore seemed to be more friendly towards Anthony, although he didn't show it in any words or actions. Anthony just had that feeling.

"Lucy, Shedine, David wants to talk to you about something." Jim ran over and called his two sisters away, then squatted down, drooling as he looked at the pot.

Anthony has become quite calm about it; such scenes have been quite common over the past ten days.

Camp.

After everyone had finished their meal, they rested. Lord Sherlock's tent lamp had been turned off. Tonight, it was Anthony and Moore's turn to keep watch. Perhaps because it was the last night and they were about to leave the Monster Forest, the possibility of being attacked was reduced, so David did not arrange for anyone else to keep watch with them.

The campsite is always relatively open, with the pitch-black night in the distance. The outline of the forest appears like a giant in the night, surrounding them. The chirping of insects and croaking of frogs can be heard from time to time in summer. A cool breeze blows gently, making it feel exceptionally pleasant. At times like this, one can't help but breathe out breaths and sink into this tender night for a good night's sleep.

As he pondered this, Anthony's eyelids began to droop, and his head slowly lowered.

"Don't fall asleep." The voice in his ear startled Anthony, and at the same time he felt Abag pulling hard on his hair.

He opened his eyes and saw Mor's handsome, cold face. Mor was very close to him, so close that he could smell Mor's scent.

Hmm, what's that smell? Medicine?

He must be half asleep, how could he smell medicine?

Being so close to Moore made Anthony feel a little awkward. Uh, what an incompetent night watchman, he almost fell asleep.

"Abag, stop messing around!" Anthony mumbled, scolding Abag who was pulling his hair.

After a while, Anthony gradually lost his sleepiness, his mind became much clearer, and the smell of medicine became much stronger.

He was suddenly startled. Something was wrong. How could she have fallen asleep like that? As someone with such strong mental power, how could she have been asleep for so long?

Looking at Mor's calm expression and the medicine bottle in his hand, which contained some kind of magic potion and emitted a refreshing aroma, one could see that...

He realized that it was this medicine that had woken him up!

Someone must have drugged it!

As those words crossed Anthony's mind, Moore spoke up calmly:

"Someone must have drugged it."

Seeing Moore's calm expression, Anne gradually calmed down as well, and all around was quiet.

Someone must have drugged his food. He didn't eat anything on his own, so it must have been his dinner that was drugged. And the person who drugged him must have slipped the drug on him while he was cooking. So she wasn't the only one who was drugged!

Moll must have discovered the poison in time and produced the antidote.

To be precise, it was Abag who made Moore discover that they had been drugged.

Anthony's drowsiness and dozing off didn't catch his attention. It was normal for one person to doze off during the night watch, as long as the two of them didn't doze off at the same time.

It was Abag that sensed Annie's abnormality and pulled her hair hard. Only then did Moore notice that it was very abnormal that Anthony did not wake up despite Abag's actions. He then realized that they had probably been drugged.

For some reason, he himself is not easily drugged, and as a dragon, Abag is not susceptible to this small drug.

Even though he knew he wouldn't be drugged, Moore was still forced to take various medications before he left, probably out of concern that such a situation might occur. The medications he had on him really came in handy.

Anthony warily surveyed his surroundings; the place was now fraught with danger.

"Take this medicine and let the others smell it." Moore handed the medicine to Anthony, and the two of them took the antidote and ran off to the crowd.

Although he and Mordo both knew that the person who drugged them today was definitely someone from within the Silver Wolf organization, meaning that at least one person among them was faking unconsciousness.

They not only had to worry about whether there were enemies lurking in the darkness, but also about the unconscious person suddenly jumping up and delivering a fatal blow.

But at this moment, they can't worry about anything else; they have to wake everyone up!

Nobody knows where the crisis is lurking!

Anthony went to the positions of the two female players first, while Moore went to the positions of the captain and Jim.

The smell of the antidote filled the air.

"Sister Lucy, Sister Shidini," Annie called softly.

"Captain, Jim!" Moore was also calling out.

The antidote could only pull them out of their coma; Anthony and Moore still needed to wake them from their slumber. Gradually, Lucy, Stiglin, the captain, and Jim regained consciousness.

Just then, one of the four people jumped up, a flash of white light, and a dagger pierced straight into the chest of the person in front of him!
