Chapter Eight: Calling the Parents

Huo Yubai looked displeased.

The homeroom teacher of Class 3 smiled broadly.

After the flag-raising ceremony ended.

Wang Jing then called me over.

"I heard you were with Huo Yubai yesterday?" Wang Jing frowned.

I asked expressionlessly, "Teacher, who told you that?"

"I read the post." Wang Jing looked at me seriously: "You said your grades aren't very good, so why do you have so many thoughts about this every day?"

"Teacher, I don't understand. What could I possibly be thinking when I go to a bookstore?" I questioned.

Having been given a second chance at life, I'm no longer afraid of teachers like Wang Jing.

Wang Jing asked, displeased, "What are you doing at the bookstore?"

"Teacher, I'm a student, what are you saying I'm doing?" I calmly retorted, "Can't I even go to buy a few books? Who says I can't go to a bookstore?"

"I meant you went to the bookstore, I meant why you were with Huo Yubai!" Wang Jing was furious.

There were other teachers in the office, and they all looked up.

"He went to buy books, and I went to buy books too, what's the problem?" I asked indifferently. "I also saw Gu Heng and Zhao Baixue in the bookstore, didn't the teacher know that?"

"What's so strange about the two of them showing up at the bookstore!" Wang Jing's eyes were filled with anger.

"So you mean I'm not worthy to be in a bookstore?" I asked coldly.

Wang Jing gritted her teeth: "Are you and Huo Yubai dating too early?"

"Teacher, you say Huo Yubai and I are dating, do you have any evidence?" I sneered, "Does every time a boy and a girl appear in a bookstore, you're suspected like this? Gu Heng and Zhao Baixue were there too, would you suspect them of dating? Why don't you ask them? Or are you just targeting me, making everything I do seem wrong?"

Wang Jing retorted angrily, "Do you really want me to spell it out? Everyone in the school knows that you and Huo Yubai have the worst grades. It's not normal for you two to go to the bookstore. Can Gu Heng and Zhao Baixue be compared to you? They are top students, the top contenders for Tsinghua and Peking Universities. Can you even compare to them?"

I sneered inwardly, but remained calm: "Teacher, are you saying that Huo Yubai and I shouldn't go to the bookstore because of our poor grades? Only students who are good at studying can go to the bookstore. In your eyes, students who are not good at studying can't even improve, right?"

"What progress can you and Huo Yubai possibly make?" Wang Jing said sarcastically. "With your grades, you think you can get into university? You're dreaming!"

Before he could finish speaking, two people suddenly appeared at the door.

One is Huo Yubai, and I don't know the other one.

"Hello, teacher." The middle-aged man entered: "I am Huo Yubai's uncle, my name is Huo Fei."

The homeroom teacher of Class Two stood up: "Mr. Huo, it's you! You've sponsored us with so many things."

Wang Jing's expression changed upon hearing this: "Mr. Huo, hello."

Huo Fei looked at me with a smile: "My dear niece, we meet again."

I:"……"

Have we met?

"Teachers, you may not know this, but Shen Yan's father and I are friends and often do business together," Huo Fei explained. "My son just happened to want to study hard, so I found him a tutor. This tutor also happens to be tutoring Shen Yan. Over time, the two kids got to know each other, and yesterday they even went to buy review materials together."

After his explanation, everyone understood why Huo Yubai and I went to the bookstore together.

I guess it was Huo Yushen who sent him.

After all, no matter how Huo Yubai and I explain this, the teachers won't believe us.

As Huo Yubai's guardian, Huo Fei's words certainly carry weight.

In addition, Huo Fei frequently sponsors the school, so the school will definitely give him face.

"We didn't expect that you, Mr. Huo, are Huo Yubai's uncle." The homeroom teacher of Class Two was a little embarrassed.

“It’s normal that you don’t know. Only the principal knows, and the child told me not to say,” Huo Fei explained.

I glanced at Huo Yubai.

No wonder no one said anything about him being the school bully.

"Now that the misunderstanding has been cleared up, then..." The homeroom teacher of Class Two decided to let the matter rest.

"Wait a minute," Huo Fei said. "I heard that someone posted on the campus website yesterday, saying that these two kids are dating too early."

The atmosphere was a little awkward.

"I just want to get to the bottom of this. After all, making a big fuss about this won't be good for Shen Yan." Huo Fei suddenly became very serious.

I was surprised.

Huo Fei's visit this time seems more like he's here to back me up.

I originally wanted to handle this myself.

"I know what you're thinking. I don't want to make a big deal out of this. I just want to find this person, apologize to Shen Yan, and then this matter will be over," Huo Fei said in a deep voice.

Since he said that, the teachers naturally didn't dare to say anything else.

It's not difficult to find the person who posted the message.

Soon Liu Shengyan was taken to the office.

When she saw me, her eyes reddened: "Shen Yan, all I did was get your school uniform dirty, I'll pay you back, why are you making such a fuss?"

I sneered: "You think the teacher called you here just for this?"

Liu Shengyan was taken aback.

"Liu Shengyan, did you post both of these messages?" The homeroom teacher of Class 5 placed the tablet computer in front of her.

Although everyone was anonymous when they posted the thread.

However, all back-end systems require real-name registration.

Liu Shengyan didn't seem to understand.

Or perhaps, these things didn't exist in her previous environment.

"Teacher, it wasn't me," Liu Shengyan denied.

"This is a real-name registration system," the homeroom teacher of Class 5 reminded her.

"Teacher, it really wasn't me." Liu Shengyan was on the verge of tears.

"I think we should call the parents," Huo Fei suggested. "It's such a big deal; notifying the parents is the best course of action."

My heart sank.

It looks like I'm going to have to meet him.

Liu Shengyan lowered her head and remained silent.

She didn't resist.

Does this mean she also hopes the parents can come?

Interesting.

"Teacher, can I call my parents?" I said slowly, "After all, I can't handle something like spreading rumors on my own."

Wang Jing frowned: "Is it really necessary?"

"Teacher, what are you saying? It's not that serious." Huo Fei frowned. "Even we adults have times when we feel wronged. Why can't we call a little girl's parents? You're being strange."

Wang Jing looked embarrassed.

The homeroom teacher of Class 3 was very enthusiastic: "Shen Yan, you can use my phone to make the call."

"Thank you, teacher, you're so kind." I took his phone and called Lao Shen: "Come over here, something happened to me at school."

I'm not going to bother my mom.

Old Shen wanted to ask what was wrong.

I hung up the phone immediately.

Since my mom said he would come to see me, he must have something on his mind, and he wouldn't dare not come.

Meanwhile, Liu Shengyan also made a phone call to her parents.

I sneered inwardly; this was going to be a good show.
