Chapter Six: Why Are You So Messy?

Chapter 6

The mother hesitated before replying, "Secretary Liu."

I remained silent.

"Actually, after I gave birth to you, the doctor said that my health was not good and I couldn't have a second child." The mother said softly, "At that time, your father comforted me and told me not to worry, saying that we only had one daughter, you, which was enough."

I sneered: "But he says that, yet he doesn't really think so?"

The mother said bitterly, "You also think he cheated on me because I can't have any more children?"

I frowned.

“Back when I started this business with him, that Secretary Liu followed him.” My mother looked at me meaningfully: “That Secretary Liu was very shrewd and daring. I only found out recently that your father secured several deals with her help.”

I was shocked.

“I thought your father was very capable, but it turns out he relied on other women.” Mom raised her peach blossom eyes, which had been weathered by the years: “Back then, I was helping your grandfather manage his business. I was attracted by his abilities, so I married him. I never thought I would be deceived by him.”

Although I have seen through the true nature of marriage, I am still deeply shocked by the thought that my respected father had already cheated on me.

My parents' marriage was a perfect match, a union of equals.

After getting married, my mother didn't become a full-time housewife; she also had her own career.

But I never expected it would end like this.

"Mom, how did you find out?" I asked, very curious.

“A woman’s intuition.” Mom said with a stern face, “Then I found out when your father was handling the transfer procedures for that illegitimate daughter.”

Transfer procedures?

"Mom, did that illegitimate daughter transfer to our school?" I asked, frowning.

Mom nodded: "You don't need to know who she is. Anyway, she can't threaten you. Your father and I are divorced. He has already deposited ten million yuan into your account, plus two houses. As long as your future is guaranteed, I have nothing to worry about."

It seems my mother has already made plans for my future.

But if that's the case, why didn't they tell me about this in my previous life after I took the college entrance exam?

Is it because I was reborn that many things have changed?

"Yan Yan, don't think about anything." My mother looked at me gently. "With the money he gave you, plus what I have, it's okay even if you don't get into a good university. This money is enough for you to live a stable life. I don't have any other requests. I just hope you can be happy."

I was deeply moved. "Mom, you love me so much, I must make you proud!"

My mother cupped my face in her hands, and tears streamed down her face again.

My gaze darkened.

Secretary Liu, right? The illegitimate daughter, right?

I won't let them get away with this!

Of course, I won't let Dad off the hook either!

-

Monday morning.

My mom drove me to school.

She looked exceptionally beautiful today.

I'm happy to see her cheer up.

"The driver will pick you up after school," Mom instructed. "If your dad comes looking for you, don't go with him easily."

I was surprised.

Will Dad come looking for me?

What do you mean?

I didn't ask any more questions: "Okay, I understand."

Then I got off the bus with my backpack on.

After saying goodbye to her mother, she drove away.

"Yan Yan!" Mu Xi also got out of the car.

She ran to me and whispered, "The post is locked, just like last time."

I nodded: "I know."

"However, if this matter isn't clarified, I'm afraid it will have a significant impact on you, especially on your homeroom teacher." Mu Xi was very worried about me.

"There's nothing between Huo Yubai and me." I didn't care. "And don't worry, I've already thought of a solution."

"What method?" Mu Xi asked curiously.

"You'll find out soon enough." We walked hand in hand into the school gate.

We had only taken two steps when a girl bumped into us.

She was holding a set of jianbing guozi (Chinese crepes), and she rubbed it directly onto my school uniform.

"I'm sorry," the girl apologized immediately.

Mu Xi was speechless: "Aren't you watching where you're going?"

The girl looked up, her face filled with panic: "I didn't mean to."

My gaze fell on her school badge: Liu Shengyan.

What a coincidence.

"But you got my school uniform dirty." I said calmly.

Liu Shengyan pursed her lips: "I'll help you wash."

"The flag-raising ceremony is in a bit, and it won't dry even if I wash it." I said coldly, "You know how strict the head of the grade is, so why don't you go buy me a new one now?"

Liu Shengyan asked in surprise, "Buy a new one?"

"I heard your dad spent a lot of money to transfer you to another school. I guess you shouldn't care about the small amount of money spent on school uniforms, right?" I looked at her indifferently.

Liu Shengyan bit her lip tightly: "How...how did you know?"

"I heard about it." I urged, "Hurry up, or it will be too late."

At this moment, Liu Shengyan's eyes were already red.

"Please don't cry, it'll make it seem like I'm making things difficult for you. I can't wear the school uniform anymore, and if I don't wear it, I'll get scolded. Then it won't be you crying, it will be me crying." I looked at her meaningfully.

"What's wrong?" Gu Heng walked over.

He is a disciplinary committee member of the student union.

"I accidentally dirtied Shen Yan's school uniform." Liu Shengyan sniffed. "She made me buy her a new one."

Gu Heng frowned at me: "It's not like it can't be washed clean."

"Fine, either of you can wash it for me, just give it to me before the flag-raising ceremony." I sneered, "Which of you two will wash it?"

"The flag-raising ceremony is in a little while, we can't do it in such a short time," Gu Heng said unhappily.

"You know, if the head of the grade sees me not wearing my school uniform, I'll get scolded. Will you explain for me then?" I said sarcastically, "Do you think the head of the grade will listen to you?"

Gu Heng's expression was very unpleasant.

“Liu Shengyan, I’m not trying to make things difficult for you. After all, I’ll be the one getting criticized. What good will your apology do?” I stared at her intently.

Liu Shengyan hesitated before saying, "I'll buy you a new one."

Gu Heng said, "Why buy a new one? It's just a matter of washing it. Shen Yan, I'll give you my school uniform."

"Why should I wear yours?" I asked, annoyed. "What if it causes gossip? Will you explain it to me?"

Gu Heng paused.

"But I dare not hope for that, lest it be like last time, where you asked me out but I ended up taking the blame." I looked at Gu Heng with a gloomy expression.

By this time, a number of people had already gathered at the school gate.

Actually, there's something I don't understand.

Gu Heng seems to know Liu Shengyan.

How exactly did they meet?

too weird.

Class teacher Wang Jing walked over: "What are you doing? We'll be having self-study soon."

"Teacher, my school uniform is dirty." I explained, "We're discussing how to pay for it."

Wang Jing glanced at it and said, "What's there to compensate for? Just go back and wash it. Why are you making such a fuss?"

Mu Xi couldn't hold back any longer: "Teacher, that's not how it is. Have you forgotten that last time Shen Yan's school uniform was dirtied by Zhao Baixue, and Shen Yan didn't say anything? But when she returned to class, her classmates deliberately said that Shen Yan smelled bad. You even said that Shen Yan didn't pay attention to personal hygiene, but she clearly didn't smell. If Shen Yan goes back like this this time, who knows if it won't be like last time!"

Her voice was very excited, and she looked like she was about to cry.
