Chapter 49 Wounded

Anything dares to touch my things.

"Little Shen," Xu Zhen said with a smile, "Little Liu is now my personal assistant."

"Professor Xu, I'm sorry, but even if she were the King of Heaven himself, I wouldn't respect her." I didn't have slippers.

"Professor Xu, it's okay." Liu Shengyan said softly and aggrievedly, "My sister doesn't like me, but I don't blame her. It's my own fault."

I snorted: "I'm here today to celebrate Professor Xu's birthday. I respect you as a highly respected professor, but that doesn't mean I'll compromise my principles for you. After all, when my mother and I were bullied, you were probably still nowhere to be found."

"You're so arrogant for your age!" Xu Zhen said angrily.

"Professor Xu, how have I disrespected you?" I questioned. "We've only just met. My feud with Liu Shengyan is a personal matter, but you've turned it into a business matter. Who's mixing up personal and professional matters?"

Xu Zhen opened his mouth, but had nothing to say.

It seems Xia Zhe's information was correct; Xu Zhen and Liu Shengyan's relationship is unusual.

"Old Xu, what's wrong with you? Xiao Shen is a full professor at the university. You can't just take advantage of your age to bully him. How can you act like this?" Teacher Feng said with a smile. "Xiao Shen, calm down. You and Old Xu are colleagues. You see each other all the time. You can't let an assistant cause a rift. I think we should let Xiao Liu go back today to avoid any more unpleasantness."

When Teacher Feng spoke, no one dared to object.

Xu Zhen thought for a moment, then gave Teacher Feng a complaining look.

"Xiao Liu, you can go back now. There's nothing for you to do here." Professor Feng, who had just been all smiles, was completely rude to Liu Shengyan, even showing a hint of disdain in his contempt.

Dai Chen'an winked at me, and I nodded without saying a word.

"I..." Liu Shengyan bit her lip, and looked at Xu Zhen with a wronged expression.

Xu Zhen didn't say anything.

"Okay, I'll head back now. Have fun, everyone." Liu Shengyan gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, then picked up her bag from the hanger and left with a hint of reluctance.

Xu Zhen was still looking on with longing eyes.

"Old Xu, stop looking, she's gone." Teacher Feng couldn't help but say sarcastically, "A young girl like that is actually an illegitimate child, no wonder her character is so bad."

"Alright, that's enough, just shut up," Xu Zhen said, displeased.

Professor Feng simply snorted.

The atmosphere was a little awkward.

"Professor Lin, Professor Song, you're all here too." Dai Chen'an introduced me to them one by one.

I greeted them.

However, they all felt that I was too young to take care of myself, yet I was a professor just like them, which made me feel very unbalanced.

"It's often said that humanity's ability to witness modern civilization is all thanks to standing on the shoulders of giants," Professor Lin said casually. "I never imagined that humanity's shoulders were also being used to step on other people. Don't you agree, Xiao Shen?"

I smiled and said, "Yes, I heard that Professor Lin's research project used to be your wife's. Your wife had actually made some progress, but unfortunately, something went wrong. Then the project was taken over by Professor Lin, who was her assistant at the time. That's really impressive."

Dare to say I'm benefiting from Professor Ming's influence? What is he anyway?

Professor Lin was surprised that I knew so much, and his expression became somewhat embarrassed.

I smiled and said, "I only found out by chance during a casual chat that several of the researchers who worked with your wife came to help Professor Ming after they retired."

Actually, those people were dismissed by Professor Lin.

They clearly did nothing wrong.

Professor Lin did this because he didn't want to know how he stole other people's work.

Professor Lin's face darkened, he snorted, and turned his head away.

"Oh, right, I haven't thanked you all for your care yet." I picked up a glass of wine. "I really like the new lab, even though it's a bit old and far from the teaching buildings. I'll remember that and find a chance to thank you all in the future."

The newly built laboratory was originally intended for us, but it was taken away by a group of them.

"I hope you can make good use of that new lab and live up to the investors' expectations." I finished my drink in one gulp, put down my glass, and turned to leave.

Dai Chen'an shook his head helplessly at them and came out to find me.

Take two steps.

Teacher Feng chased after him: "Xiao Shen."

I stopped and turned around: "Teacher Feng, is there something you need?"

"Xiao Shen, don't hold it against Lao Xu for what happened today. He's just getting senile." Teacher Feng said with a half-smile, "Mingzhe has good taste. You're a good kid. I like you from the start. If you need anything in the future, come to me."

"Okay." I nodded.

Then they said goodbye and left.

In the car.

"Do you think Teacher Feng will help us?" Dai Chen'an asked curiously.

“Of course she would,” I said from the passenger seat. “She knew about Xu Zhen and Liu Shengyan all along, but she couldn’t find any evidence. She saw that I could control Liu Shengyan, so she couldn’t wait for me to get rid of Liu Shengyan.”

"I did some digging, and it turns out this group is the one that dislikes us the most among the school's students. They were going to give you a hard time today, but I didn't expect it to be ruined by Liu Shengyan." Dai Chen'an sneered, "Trying to steal a chicken but losing the rice instead."

“Even without Liu Shengyan, I can handle them.” I sneered. “Defeating them is not our goal. Our goal is to make a name for ourselves and let everyone know about our team.”

Dai Chen'an nodded in agreement.

My phone rang.

It was an unfamiliar phone number.

"Hello?" I answered the phone.

"Where are you? Let's talk." Gu Heng's voice came from the phone.

He's quite resourceful now.

They actually managed to get my phone number.

“If it’s about Liu Shengyan, we have nothing to talk about,” I said coldly. “If you want to talk about me and your business, then there’s even less to talk about.”

After saying that, I hung up the phone.

How annoying.

Unexpectedly, my phone rang again a little while later.

I answered the phone without even looking at it: "Gu Heng, are you ever going to stop?"

"Huh?" The other person was a girl.

I frowned: "Who are you?"

"I am Liang Wan, President Mu's secretary." Her voice was tinged with caution.

I asked in surprise, "Is there something you need?"

“It’s President Mu.” Liang Wan said nervously, “I saw President Mu being forcibly taken away by Huo Xiao, and I’m afraid she’s in danger.”

"When did this happen?" I suddenly became nervous.

“Just now, Huo Xiao threatened us and told us not to call the police. I didn’t know who to contact, so I thought of you. Luckily, President Mu left his phone behind, and I found your number,” Liang Wan explained.

"Did Huo Xiao say where he took the person?" I asked in a deep voice.

“No.” Liang Wan said in a tearful voice, “But once Huo Xiao took President Mu away, and President Mu came back a few days later with injuries.”
