Chapter Thirty-Four: Bringing Them Together

"Stop right there!" Old Shen shouted angrily at me.

I didn't turn around.

Secretary Liu tried to stop me.

"You'd better not touch me. If you hurt me, my mom will never forgive you!" I rolled my eyes at her.

Who does she think she is?

Secretary Liu looked at me with a gloomy expression.

I scoffed.

"I agree!" Old Shen chased after him out of the study.

I stopped and turned around: "You said it yourself, I didn't force you."

Old Shen looked displeased.

“Let’s talk in the study,” he said in a low voice.

I walked back with a smile and raised an eyebrow at Secretary Liu.

Secretary Liu's expression turned even uglier.

I went into the study.

Old Shen stood by the window, his expression very complicated. "Thirty percent is too much."

I sat down and said, "Old Shen, you need to understand, I'll do as much as you give me. It's up to you to decide. After all, you take 70%, so you'll get the majority of the profits. I don't need the money. My mom only has me as her daughter, but you're different."

Old Shen turned around: "Fifteen percent."

I glanced at him. "Think about it again?"

"eighteen?"

I didn't say anything.

"Twenty, that's the most I can do!" Old Shen said with a troubled expression.

I remained silent.

"twenty two."

"Old Shen, do you think this is a market bargaining session?" I was speechless. "Be quick about it, give me 25%."

Old Shen took a deep breath, then glanced at the doorway. "Okay."

"Give me the contract first, and I'll help you when Mu Xi arrives." I held out my hand.

"Why are you in such a hurry? I wasn't prepared at all," Old Shen frowned.

"Just have your assistant and lawyer work overtime," I said with a smile. "Anyway, this isn't the first time you, as a capitalist, have exploited them."

"Then you're an accomplice of capitalists too!" Old Shen picked up his phone.

"That's not necessarily true." I said with a smile, "How about you transfer me directly to me, and I'll show you what a conscientious entrepreneur I am?"

Old Shen was furious.

He has already contacted his assistant and lawyer.

I messaged my mom and asked her to send a lawyer to me to review the contract.

After one hour.

Old Shen's assistant brought the contract.

He arrived at the same time as the lawyer my mother sent.

My lawyer helped me review the contract.

Old Shen said angrily, "You don't trust me at all?"

“You gave it to me back then, and now you want it back. I’ll definitely be more careful this time.” I sneered. “After all, we’re not father and daughter anymore, we’re business partners.”

Old Shen gritted his teeth.

“Miss, the contract is fine,” the lawyer said. “You can sign it. I will go with you to the notary office.”

"Okay." I nodded, then picked up the pen and signed my name.

Then, the lawyer and assistant left together.

"Old Shen, I hope you remember that I am now a shareholder of the company and can interfere in the board's decisions." I stood up casually: "I will send people to the company to keep an eye on you. I hope you will cooperate well."

"You're still planning to send people?" Old Shen couldn't believe it.

“Twenty-five percent, I’m the second largest shareholder after you, of course I have that right.” I smiled: “I know you’re angry, but you’d better not be. Since I helped you get the cooperation with the Mu family, I have to be involved in this project.”

Old Shen's eyes widened.

"Moreover, neither the Shen family nor the mistress are allowed to participate in this project. I won't interfere with anything else." I know how much profit this project is lucrative, and I'd rather let outsiders make the money than let them profit from it.

"When did you become so cunning?" Old Shen said with a stern face. "Looks like your mother has been teaching you a lot these past six months."

“I’m self-taught,” I said sarcastically. “If I have even a little bit of cunning, it’s from you. After all, that’s the kind of person you are.”

"You!" he gritted his teeth. "You better get this done!"

I smiled and turned to leave.

Secretary Liu was still outside the door.

I ignored her and went straight downstairs.

Secretary Liu walked up to Mr. Shen and asked, "Mr. Shen, do you really want to give her that much?"

Old Shen said impatiently, "Otherwise what?"

“What I mean is, you didn’t have many shares to begin with, and giving her so many will dilute your shares. Will the other shareholders listen to you?” Secretary Liu asked with a worried tone.

“I gave Shen Yan shares to make those people obedient.” Old Shen said in a deep voice, “Shen’s Group was originally founded by Han Li and me. Those shareholders all worked hard with us. After my divorce from Han Li, they were somewhat dissatisfied with me, so I had to keep them in check.”

"There must be other ways to suppress them, right?" Secretary Liu said.

"The company is in a slump right now. Unless you have a way to revive it, don't even mention it. Doing business isn't something you can do with those kinds of scheming tricks." Old Shen's words carried a hint of contempt.

Ultimately, he looked down on Secretary Liu for using her body to climb the social ladder.

But now he needs a woman like Secretary Liu who is willing to go all out to help him.

Secretary Liu's expression changed drastically.

She knew she had done many dishonorable things, but she never expected Old Shen to look down on her so much.

"I really don't know much," Secretary Liu said, skillfully gauging her position. "I'm also worried about Shen Yan. She's young; what if she gets scammed?"

Old Shen remained silent.

“President Shen, didn’t Shen Yan like my nephew Gu Heng before? You’ve met Gu Heng; he’s smart and steady, and you also know his background. If he could marry Shen Yan in the future, wouldn’t that be a double blessing for the company?” Secretary Liu observed Old Shen’s expression.

“But the Gu family is too prestigious, and the Shen family isn’t a wealthy family like them. I’m afraid…” Old Shen still had some concerns.

"President Shen, as long as Gu Heng is willing, that's fine," Secretary Liu said with a smile.

Actually, at first, Lao Shen didn't really think much of Gu Heng. Although he knew Gu Heng was a good student, at that time, he hoped that Shen Yan could find someone of equal social standing.

Unexpectedly, Shen Yan is now considered unworthy of Gu Heng.

"Mr. Shen, Gu Heng really likes Shen Yan. You are Shen Yan's father. As long as you agree, everything will be fine," Secretary Liu said with a smile.

She knew perfectly well that the Gu family's wealth had nothing to do with her.

However, the Shen family's assets absolutely cannot be allowed to fall into Shen Yan's lap.

Gu Heng is her nephew, as long as Shen Yan marries Gu Heng.

She then instructed Gu Heng to force Shen Yan to stay home and take care of her husband and children after marriage, and then gradually relinquish her shares.

Anyway, Shen Yan is a hopeless romantic, always a devoted follower of Gu Heng, so there's definitely no problem with her.

"That Gu Heng really fell in love with Shen Yan?" Old Shen was a little surprised: "He was reluctant at first."

"He likes Shen Yan, but he doesn't dare to confess to her so as not to interfere with their studies. You'll know once he arrives and you talk to him," Secretary Liu said with a smile.

Old Shen thought to himself, "If Shen Yan really could become the young mistress of the Gu family, that wouldn't be bad."

That's it.

He's determined to bring the two of them together!
