Chapter 85 Mengxi Chapter
An hour and a half later, Lin Xiyue came out having bought everything.
This supermarket is absolutely enormous, with seven floors in total. It sells everything from food and clothing to even small household robots. It's a huge and incredibly diverse shopping destination.
"That's strange. This supermarket is so big, but I haven't seen a single person. All the workers are robots. Is everyone in your alien race now shopping online and completely mechanized? Why is no one shopping in the supermarket?"
After Lin Xiyue finished selecting her items, she realized that there was no one there. She had initially thought that Moros was being too domineering and had driven everyone away, but she hadn't expected that there really was no one there, not even at the cashier.
"Yes, because today is our only holiday, so they've all gone to celebrate."
After thinking for a moment, Meros spoke up anyway.
"Wow! Your only holiday? Aren't you going to show me?"
Lin Xiyue was somewhat dissatisfied. This was the only festival, and she had just arrived and wasn't going to participate. Wouldn't that be a waste of time? So she insisted that Moros take her to see it.
"Are you sure you want to go? Our festivals here are different from yours; they're quite bloody. I'm afraid you won't be able to handle it."
Moros frowned, somewhat reluctant for her to look. After all, in Moros's mind, Lin Xiyue was like a little white rabbit, a domesticated one who hadn't experienced much.
"Of course, don't let my appearance fool you, I was involved in a battle before I came here!"
Lin Xiyue proudly raised her head, showing off to Moros.
"Really? My baby is so amazing! You'd better be prepared!"
Moros smiled and put his arm around Lin Xiyue's waist, leading her to the second-floor window of the supermarket, where he pressed a button.
The window, which had been displaying a loop of scenic images, suddenly turned into transparent glass. Before Lin Xiyue could even get a good look outside, a large mass of dark purple flesh flew over and slammed into the glass with a "splat," spraying out a large pool of purplish-red blood before slowly sliding down, leaving streaks of blood on the glass. Then, with a beep, a small robotic arm rose up on the window and scraped the glass with a scraper, instantly leaving it smooth and clean.
"What?! What happened?! Wasn't it supposed to be that there wouldn't be such a brutal dog-eat-dog world in towns? (?Д?)ノ"
Lin Xiyue was stunned, staring blankly at Molos beside her, feeling that this had completely overturned her worldview.
"Of course it won't happen, but today is the Monsi Festival, a festival that only comes once a year here. Low, medium, and even high-level alien races will frantically plunder all the energy they can get their hands on on this day. Because today is their only chance to advance their own level."
Meros coldly watched down below, where a couple who appeared to be a mother and child stood. The child was about to be devoured by another alien race, but at the last second, his mother protected him, holding him in her arms. She then extended her scythe-like limbs and slashed at the alien, blood splattering everywhere. Afterwards, the mother and child together devoured the alien who had attacked the child.
! ! ! !
"They...they're fishing on purpose? ミ?Д?彡"
Lin Xiyue also witnessed the entire process of the alien's failed ambush and subsequent counterattack. She found it unbelievable because the child's movements were so practiced. His transformation from terrified innocence to fearful and helpless pleas, and finally to the smug grin of a successful counterattack, was chillingly smooth. Yet, the child looked to be no more than five years old, perhaps even younger.
"He's so young, yet he's already... well, amazing?"
Lin Xiyue pondered her words and then asked a question.
“Yes, don’t judge him by human age. The youngest of the alien races who can hunt on their own should be in their twenties. Judging from his skill, he’s been doing this for at least five or six years. The age of aliens is different from that of humans; we have a much longer lifespan.”
Moros patted Lin Xiyue's head, offering her some comfort.
"Hmm? So, how old are you this year? ̄▽ ̄"
Lin Xiyue suddenly thought of this and looked up to ask Molos.
This is very important; it relates to whether you're an "old auntie" dating a younger man!
"me?"
Moros smiled and pointed to himself, then replied with a smile after seeing Lin Xiyue nod vigorously.
"I should be over 360, but according to your human way of counting, I should be around 28. What, you don't mind that I'm older than you, do you? :D"
Melos bent down and picked Lin Xiyue up, bringing her eyes to his level, then pressed his forehead against Lin Xiyue's.
Their breaths mingled together, their nostrils filled with each other's scent.
Lin Xiyue could even see her own reflection in Moros's emerald green pupils. In that reflection, her face was flushed, and the extremely cruel and bloody scenes she had witnessed upon returning made the corners of her eyes red, as if they were filled with tears.
It makes me feel incredibly alluring.
Sure enough, Lin Xiyue realized that feeling Moros's hand caressing her waist wasn't an illusion. →_→
"Huh? You don't really dislike me anymore, do you?"
When Melos noticed that Lin Xiyue hadn't answered for a while and was instead staring blankly at him, he became somewhat annoyed and tightened his grip on her waist to bring her back to her senses.
"Hiss—ah? No, no. I was worried before that I was an old auntie, like an old cow eating young grass. ┐(′?`)┌"
Lin Xiyue snapped out of her daze due to the pain and answered Moros's question. She couldn't quite explain why she'd been spacing out; she couldn't very well say she'd been staring at her own reflection, could she? That felt a bit narcissistic. (:3_ヽ)_
"Oh, let me rub it for you. Do you still want to see this festival?"
Moros rubbed Lin Xiyue's waist, which he had pinched so hard, but it was unclear whether he was actually rubbing it or something else.
"Actually, I'm somewhat interested in seeing it; I'd like to learn more about it. Would that be too much trouble for you?"
Lin Xiyue hesitated before speaking. Whether it was out of curiosity or a desire to learn more about Meros, she wanted to see more of this unique annual festival of the alien race.
"It's alright, protecting you is no problem for me. Don't underestimate your man. Besides, if I go, I can also replenish some energy, which will make it easier for me to create a clone to go to Earth with you."
Melos smiled and placed Lin Xiyue on the ground.
"Then, shall we go?"
"Okay."
