Kiana and the Captain's Bizarre Adventure

Chapter 12 Poplar Tree: Is the Collapse still chasing me?

Rewind to when the train crew had just finished discussing the pioneer team, and Himeko led the captain to the other side of the observation car.

"So, what does Miss Himeko want me to do?" the captain asked.

"Just call me Himeko," Himeko said, shrugging.

"Actually, there's nothing special. There are quite a few people on this expedition, so I want you to go alone to find the location of the star core. Of course, Walter and I will be your strong support when necessary."

"Why me? If you just want me to find the Star Core, wouldn't it be easier to just have me go with Kiana and the others?"

“If it were just about finding the Star Core, it wouldn’t be necessary to go through all this trouble. But judging from your demeanor at the time, it felt like you were hiding something from us. Everyone has secrets. Since you and Kiana don’t want us to know the specifics, I think it’s better to let you act alone. Kiana and Danheng are enough for March and the others.”

Seeing that Himeko had figured something out, the captain didn't know how to explain for a moment. After thinking for a long time, the captain finally decided to tell Himeko the truth.

So after the captain waited for March 7th and the others to leave, he called Walter over and began to explain.

"In other words, that being will summon your companions from your homeland to support you based on the situation of your mission. The Will Integration Entity is truly a mysterious being. Even the Star God probably doesn't have the ability to transfer people from one world to another at will, yet He can do it so easily. It's truly incredible."

Walter never imagined that after being away from his homeland for so long, he might encounter his homeland's companions in the universe.

If it were Bronya or Mei, it would be fine, but if it were Tesla, he couldn't even imagine how chaotic it would be. He just hoped Tesla would tone it down a bit; after all, there were children here, and he was worried that using too much vulgar language might set a bad example for them!

"In short, after we arrived at Yalilo-VI, He reminded me in my mind that a companion had been successfully sent to this planet by Him, and we needed to meet up with her ourselves."

“I understand,” Walter said. “Captain, I hope you can contact me then.”

The captain gave Walter a strange look, then seemed to remember something and curled the corners of his mouth slightly. He looked at Walter with a knowing expression and gave him a thumbs up to indicate that he understood.

Himeko watched the somewhat inexplicable interaction between the two and couldn't help but feel curious. With a curious gaze, she looked at the captain, hoping he could give her some hints.

"Himeko, you don't understand. Mr. Walter has his own partner over there. It's just that his partner has a bad temper. Mr. Walter disappeared for quite a long time without saying a word. If the companion he sends over is Mr. Walter's partner, I think the scene will be quite 'exciting'."

Walter calmly pushed up his slightly slipped glasses; the reflective lenses obscured his expression, though the hand gripping the cane handle tightened unconsciously.

"Speaking of which, Mr. Walter, I've been curious for a long time about the Star of Eden you have."

“The Star of Eden is the crutch I hold in my hand now.”

"..."

Time returns to the present.

"So Mr. Walter has been traveling with the people on the Star Train ever since he disappeared along with the Void Archives?" Bronya asked.

"Yes."

"And he even used his remaining powers to turn the Star of Eden that I returned to him into a cane? If Dr. Tesla and the others found out about this, they would probably be furious."

"That shouldn't be the case, right? Speaking of which, before he left, Mr. Walter gave me the signal data of the star core and a simple detection device. Now it seems that only the signal data is useful."

“I’m not omnipotent.” Bronya tapped the captain’s forehead lightly with her finger. “Ever since Kiana embraced the Cocoon of the End, the resulting siphon effect has reduced my powers to less than one-tenth. I can’t guarantee that I can create a more sophisticated detection device.”

“That’s not right! According to His reply, your strength should have recovered to your peak when you crossed over here. Besides, what’s so difficult about a detection device? If you’re too lazy to make one, just say so. There’s no shame in it.”

Bronya coughed awkwardly twice. "The weather is so nice today!"

The captain looked speechlessly at Bronya, who stiffly changed the subject, sighed, and took out the detection device given to him by Walter to start searching for the location of the star core.

Before they knew it, the snowstorm was getting heavier and heavier. To prevent any accidents, the captain and Bronya had to stop and begin building a temporary base.

A short while later, a simple snow hut appeared in the midst of a snowstorm.

Inside the snow hut, the captain and Bronya sat facing each other, with a fire that Bronya had created using her powers between them.

The captain took out some canned food from his backpack, and after a simple heating, it became dinner for the captain and Bronya.

"Speaking of which, can't the captain go back to the Hyperion or that Star Train to rest? They have teleportation devices, so it should be easy to go back and forth."

Upon hearing this, the captain, who had been picking at his food, paused and stiffly looked away.

"forget."

"Pfft! As expected of the captain! Sometimes he really is just as single-minded as Kiana."

"So, are you going back? This would also be a good opportunity for you to meet Mr. Walter."

"no need."

Bronya had moved to the captain's side without anyone noticing. She gently rested her head on the captain's shoulder, a slight smile on her lips.

"This is fine too!"

The captain blushed and touched the tip of his nose, glancing sideways at Bronya.

Seeing Bronya's relieved expression, the captain hesitated for a few moments, but ultimately decided not to push her away.

Meanwhile, Kiana, who was happily enjoying dinner at the Goethe Hotel, suddenly felt a chill down her spine, and goosebumps instantly rose all over her body.

"What's wrong?" March 7 asked with concern.

"It's nothing, I just felt a chill down my spine, and I had a feeling that something bad was about to happen."

Kiana gently bit the spoon in her hand, thought for a moment, and then continued to enjoy her dinner. After finishing her meal, Kiana packed two more portions of food to take back to her room. Bronya Rand was still sleeping in her room, and judging by the time, she should be waking up by now. She couldn't let someone go back hungry.

After seeing Bronya Rand off, Kiana came to Danheng's room again, this time with March 7 and Hoshi also there.
