Chapter 57 The Stinky Taoist
As the carriage traveled, Xiang He recited scriptures the entire way.
The person doing the work seemed to lack skill; after his initial burst of attacks was interrupted by Xiang He, he tried a few more times, but each time Xiang He thwarted his attempts.
Even after this happened so many times, Xiang He was still very upset and couldn't help but curse under her breath.
"Why is this 'mirror flower' taking so long to bloom..."
She lifted the carriage curtain and looked out. A misty white figure rushed in, and in an instant, it changed shape and sat gracefully beside Xiang He.
Jinghua was still dressed in a yellow robe, dignified and polite. "Daoist Master, your grandmother didn't see him, but she did see a man who also looked like a Daoist Master, waving a peach wood sword in front of his altar."
"Can you see what's on the table?"
“A piece of yellow paper with red writing on it, including his name, surname, and birth date.”
He Sui'an frowned. "Is that Miss Xiang's name?"
Jinghua seemed hesitant to speak, but Xiang He waved her hand before she said, "It's not just the Taoist priest, but also his whole family."
Hearing this, Xiang He laughed instead of getting angry, "Good heavens, this old hag is really daring. She dares to have such thoughts about her own bloodline. She's even more ruthless than me."
They actually wrote down the entire third son's family name, which is going to make things difficult for them all.
It seems her family members are also suffering, and she needs to resolve this quickly.
"Where is that Taoist priest?"
"In a dilapidated temple in the northwest of the town."
Upon hearing this, Xing Ji, who was outside, cracked his whip to urge the horse on, and the carriage sped up.
The two sat steadily inside the carriage. Jinghua looked at her hands resting on her knees and dared not say another word.
The carriage fell silent for a moment. Xiang He closed her eyes to rest, but He Suian felt that she was holding back her thoughts, and it seemed that she was not planning to let that family off the hook this time.
But what she meant by "an eye for an eye"—was it to use Taoist magic to deal with it? Wouldn't that violate something?
His guesses came to nothing, and the carriage stopped somewhere. Jinghua disappeared inside the carriage, and Xianghe was the first to jump off.
After looking around, they stopped at the foot of a low hill, where a dilapidated house could be seen by simply looking up.
Xiang He placed the palm mirror in her bosom. "Mirror Flower, is that the place?"
Jinghua's voice echoed in her ears. Xianghe shoved the cloth bag into He Suian's hand, her expression stern. "My hard-earned money is inside. Sir, you must keep a close eye on it."
He Suian nodded blankly, watching her roll up her sleeves and walk upstairs with a fierce air. He gripped the cloth bag in his hand and followed her.
Xing Ji watched over the carriage from here. It was close to the upper level, so if anything happened, he could fly up there at any time.
Xiang He walked quickly, following a small path upwards.
A murmured voice came from my ear, along with the sound of bells, and a muffled thud as I stomped my feet.
As soon as Xiang He peeked out, he saw a man dressed in a gray Taoist robe, holding a peach wood sword in one hand and a bell in the other, walking in an unorthodox Tiangang Step.
The offering table was in a dilapidated temple. On the table were very simple things: an incense burner, a few wild fruits, and burning incense and candles. In front of the incense burner was what Jinghua had described, written in red on yellow paper.
Her smiling eyes concealed her anger as she stepped forward. "What are you doing, Taoist priest?"
The Taoist priest, who was focused on the ritual, was startled and shrugged as he looked over. He saw a young girl and waved his hand impatiently, "Young lady, don't come near here. I'm performing a ritual!"
"What kind of magic?" the little girl asked, quite curious.
Xiang He approached step by step, and the Taoist priest pouted with impatience, "This is none of your business, get out of here."
Despite his impatience, Xiang He continued to smile and took a few steps closer to the altar. "Oh! Isn't this my birth date and time?"
"What nonsense are you talking about..."
Upon realizing what he had just said, the Taoist priest's eyes widened, and he forgot all about the bell in his hand, only wanting to grab the piece of paper.
How could Xiang He do as he wished?
Reaching out, he snatched the piece of paper covered with the eight characters. The Taoist priest had a bad feeling but pretended to be calm, tilting his head back and looking down at her with his chin up, "Little girl, there are plenty of people with the same name."
“There aren’t many people with the same birth chart,” Xiang He carefully examined the paper. Her birth chart was exactly the same as the original owner’s, which was probably why she was able to possess that body.
"What do you know, you little brat!"
He cursed as he reached out to snatch it, then turned and threw it toward He Suian, saying, "Please help me catch it, sir, I'll need it later."
He Sui'an reached out and caught it, then thoughtfully folded it up. "Okay."
He looked up and saw Xiang He grabbing the Taoist priest's hand. "Taoist priest, would you like to come with me?"
How could the Taoist priest let her take him away? He forcefully shook her hand, "How could I go with you! Let go of me! I have important things to do!"
No matter how hard he tried to shake it, he couldn't get it off his wrist. The force on his wrist was increasing, and he could even feel the pain.
"You, you little brat, let go of me!"
Xiang He's narrowed eyes flashed with a cold light. "You'd better come with me obediently to avoid unnecessary trouble."
"Bullshit! Get off!"
Xiang He was too lazy to argue with him, so she clenched her fist and punched him. The Taoist priest cried out in pain, clutching his left eye, his right eye wide with astonishment. "What... what are you doing!"
"I told you to come with me obediently."
How dare a little girl like her hit him!
The Taoist priest was furious. He grabbed the peach wood sword and swung it at Xiang He, but the sword stopped in mid-air and was caught by Xiang He with one hand.
He tried to pull back, but found that this little girl was really strong!
Seeing that he couldn't fight back with force, he changed his fierce and arrogant demeanor and said, "Girl, you know I'm a Taoist priest, right? You dare to compete with me? Aren't you afraid of ghosts knocking on your door in the middle of the night?"
"I'm scared, but I'm even more scared that no ghosts will come to my door!"
Xiang He grabbed his wrist with one hand and the peach wood sword with the other, pulled his hands back, and slammed his right knee straight into his abdomen.
"Ah! What are you doing?!"
The Taoist priest's body went limp, and the peach wood sword fell to the ground as well. Xiang He released his hand and instead grabbed his not-so-thick, dirty hair, pulling him down the mountain.
"I told you to come with me, but you still keep causing trouble. If I don't hit you, who should I hit?"
"Hey! Girl, let go! It hurts my hair! I'll go with you, just let go!"
Xiang He ignored him and dragged him down, just like Er Gouzi, who had to suffer even though he was bouncing around.
He Sui'an walked last, shaking his head helplessly, having unfortunately provoked a hot-tempered person.
Since I met Xiang Heqi, I've witnessed all sorts of skills she has, but the most direct one is her punch, which is simple and quick.
But those people never learn their lesson; every time, within two days, they'll come looking for a beating again.
Miss Xiang is also a person with a "bad fate", having to deal with such a family.
At the foot of this remote mountain, only the Taoist priest's howls could be heard. Xing Ji stood by the carriage watching, no longer surprised, seemingly used to it.
With a flick of Xiang He's wrist, the Taoist priest was thrown to the side of the carriage. Looking down at him, she said, "Are you going to obediently let me tie you up and get into the carriage, or should I tie you up myself and pull you to the back of the carriage?"
The Taoist priest wanted to stand up for himself one last time, but a shadow fell over him. He turned his eyes to look and saw Xing Ji staring at him with a cold expression. His eyes looked even more ferocious than Xiang He's!
"I...I'll go in myself!"
Xiang He gave Xing Ji a thumbs up, "Xing Ji, you're more like a villain than I am."
"..." Xing Ji silently went to the back to get the hemp rope.
He Sui'an was speechless again, raising his hand to his forehead, truly at a loss for words.
As he boarded the carriage, he turned back and said, "You seem to be living a very fulfilling life."
Xiang He was slightly taken aback, then looked up and laughed, "Envious, aren't you? It's one of a kind!"
