Train Survival: You're really trying to survive!
Chapter 568 Unbearable Thirst
The train's heavy alloy doors slammed shut behind Ivan, shutting out the relentless, raging sandstorm that seemed intent on tearing everything apart. Ivan, his lips parched, walked to the main control panel after disinfection and used the train's intercom to summon all the crew members.
A moment later, footsteps approached rapidly. In front of all the members, Ivan licked his dry, stinging lips again—a gesture that would normally be insignificant, but now seemed particularly jarring. He then revealed his discovery.
"An unusual thirst?" Song Mingyu's brows furrowed even more. "Let me check..."
Ivan let Song Mingyu examine him for quite a while. As soon as the examination was over, he couldn't wait to drink a glass of water. The cool water washed over his burning esophagus, bringing a moment of false relief.
But even after drinking that glass of water and waiting quite a while, the feeling of thirst did not subside.
Meanwhile, Song Mingyu's test results also came back: "There is nothing wrong with your body. Your body's elements are balanced, and your water content is also fine."
“But…” Song Mingyu paused, “the water element in your body is being constantly modified. The reason for this modification is not due to elemental abnormalities.”
"This is a curse, a curse we didn't discover earlier."
Song Mingyu frowned and concluded, "This curse has the same effect as the water shortage we discovered before, caused by the erosion of fire and earth elements, but the cause is completely different."
Su Li couldn't help but laugh, "So ingenious? It creates a water shortage effect from both elemental and curse aspects. The root of that curse must have a deep resentment towards water."
Sun Keke interjected at this moment, "The sandstorm outside contains a cursed power. It is this power that caused the water shortage curse."
Ivan added, "I've drunk quite a bit of water, but the thirst hasn't gone away."
After saying that, Ivan subconsciously took another sip of water.
With both approaches combined, until a suitable solution is found, Su Li and the others will continue to face the curse of thirst.
Su Li tapped the back of her hand with her index finger speechlessly, "I never expected that even at the Silver level, I would still have a thirst crisis."
When was the last time I felt thirsty?
Su Li thought about it; that was the first time he had entered the Eternal Train game. He felt as if he had returned to a few years ago, to the days when he was in the scorching salt flats, licking away his sweat just to get a sip of water.
Sun Keke grabbed Ivan's hand. "This thirst comes from a curse. Drinking water won't help. Come with me first, and let me figure out how to break the curse."
Sun Keke pulled Ivan away, and Su Li and the others had no better ideas, so they could only continue their work.
Several hours later, Su Li and his team returned to the operations command center.
Sun Lili took out several round balls and tossed them to the crowd.
"The newly crafted resistance cloak is primarily resistant to curses, with slight fire and earth resistance. It can withstand the intensity of external curses for up to 12 hours."
Sun Lili pulled open a cloak and pointed to a rune inside, "See this? If this turns from gold to red, it means it won't last much longer. Hurry up and replace it with a new one."
Su Li picked up the bag containing the cloak and placed it on her waist.
Song Mingyu also took out a few pills, "medicine to resist elemental erosion."
Su Li then took out several bottles of water. "Imitation holy water potion, which uses the light attribute monster crystal core, dissolved in a special neutralizer, to form a potion with similar effects to ordinary holy water."
Holy water is not produced from matter; it is created by clergy who infuse pure water with their holy power and faith. Alchemists like Zuli can only replicate items with similar effects.
"These imitation holy water potions are for oral use only and should not be used externally, as they evaporate very easily."
Aside from these, there were no other research findings. However, the main focus was not on these findings, but rather on the map information detected by satellite.
Zurich projected the map onto the screen.
As soon as the map was released, everyone noticed something unusual.
"There's an oasis here?!" Sun Lili exclaimed in disbelief. "And there's water too!"
Yes, oases dotted the map, and in the northwest corner, a large expanse of small lakes appears, nestled in the desert like stars in the night sky.
Su Li manipulated the screen, zooming in on the islands in the northwest corner.
When zoomed in, the surroundings of these small lakes can be clearly seen.
Finally, some plants and stones appeared around, and there was a sense of life.
Zuli glanced at the scale and saw that the average size of these lakes was only 1 to 3 hectares, with very sparse vegetation and no signs of animal activity.
The largest lake, however, shows signs of some life around it.
These creatures likely live underground; around the lake are dozens of mounds of earth of varying sizes and spacing, suggesting they weren't formed naturally.
To the south of the map lies a vast expanse of yellow, devoid of any other color. Just looking at it, one can clearly understand what a forbidden zone for life truly means.
"After seeing this map, there's not much to say." Su Li tapped the screen. "In the south, there's no life, not even any hard places. I guess it's hard to find even minerals. In the north, however, there are quite a few small oases."
“I’m curious how these oases have survived under these conditions. That water might not be ordinary water. It might even relieve thirst.”
"So, we'll take this path next."
Su Li drew a line on the screen. "Let's go to the nearest lake first and see what's so special about this oasis. Then we'll go to the largest oasis."
"Based on our experience, this largest oasis must be rich in resources, and treasure chests and minerals will be concentrated here."
This route is the most profitable.
With the route finalized, the train finally set off. The nearest oasis was still a two-day journey away.
The sandstorm had not yet subsided, and the train moved forward along the laid railway amidst the sand and dust.
At this moment, Zuli was once again grateful for the railway tracks. The sandstorm outside made it impossible to see any direction, but the tracks pointed straight towards her wish, unwavering and requiring no adjustment.
The metal walls of the vehicle groaned under the powerful impact of the sandstorm, and the floor beneath our feet trembled slightly with each impact, as if the metal skeleton, unable to bear the weight, was making a grinding sound.
