After completing the arrangements in the four cities, Zu Li and his group returned to their original city and arrived near the Tianmu Meteorite Lake. This place was once a picturesque tourist destination, but now it has become a desolate wasteland.

Near the Tianmu Meteorite Lake, there is a huge camp, or rather, a camp converted from a mine.

The train slowly approached the survivor camp near the Tianmu Meteorite Lake. Su Li glanced at it from afar; the camp was unusual, built on the ground—because they were high in the mountains, the fog wasn't high enough.

It was daytime, and white mist was rising. It was the time for the camp to collect crystals. Vehicles were constantly driving out of the mine, leaving with loads of crystals.

Zurich and his group's train naturally attracted the attention of the military camp.

A short while later, a military vehicle arrived beside Su Li and his group, and several people wearing bulletproof vests and carrying guns got out of the vehicle.

"What is your purpose in coming here?" the soldier asked.

“We came here to get some dazzling crystals,” Su Li said with a smile. “We came from the neighboring city and passed by this mine, so we wanted to buy some supplies to store up.”

“Our free market is right next door. If you want to trade, you can go over there,” the soldier pointed to a camp.

The camp was surrounded by guard towers and barbed wire, and soldiers armed with advanced weapons patrolled vigilantly. It looked very safe.

Just then, Su Li heard a creaking sound, which sounded a bit like the sound effect of ice freezing in a game. He asked the soldier curiously, "Hey soldier, what's that sound?"

"That's the sound of crystals being generated," the soldier said. "Crystals are the product of condensed underground gases. Recently, there must have been some underground activity, and the production of crystals has increased significantly."

After saying that, the soldier rolled his eyes at Su Li. "Did you study geography? This kind of phenomenon happens every now and then. It's just that this time the phenomenon is more intense. I heard from the people in the camp that this is a once-in-a-century phenomenon."

"Haha, I wasn't very studious before." Su Li smiled, but was deep in thought.

These dazzling crystals are the outflow of the planet's life force, a kind of stress response. The sudden generation of more dazzling crystals is likely the planet's attempt to save itself and purify the virus.

Unfortunately, the humans in this world acted recklessly, helping the virus gain resistance to the Crystal Stone.

Song Mingyu, who had been studying the situation, nudged Su Li in the back. "It's ready."

Su Li nodded to indicate that he understood. The reason he stopped here was because Song Mingyu said she wanted to conduct some research.

After the research concluded, Zuli's train entered the trading market, where they traded food for some dazzling crystals. Having confirmed their lie, the group resumed their journey.

This time, they have a lot more to do.

They revisited the four cities and arrived at the locations marked by Song Mingyu.

Then, Song Mingyu planted some things that looked like saplings on the spot.

Time quickly moved forward to the sixth day of this exploration, at noon.

The train returned to the vicinity of Tianmu Meteorite Lake. The group donned their gear and prepared for battle.

"It's almost time," Song Mingyu said softly, glancing at the time.

Just then, a strange sensation filled the air. The omnipresent white mist that permeated the entire world began to ripple, as if it had suddenly transformed into an ocean.

This unusual change naturally attracted everyone's attention. The many survivors looked up at the white mist in the sky, praying that this strange phenomenon wouldn't lead to anything bad.

Unfortunately.

In a survivor's camp, the sky hung low, and grayish-white mist surged from the horizon like ocean waves.

A worker was squatting on the rooftop, making new planters, when he suddenly noticed that it was a bit foggy around him. "This damn weather..." he muttered, looking up, his cloudy eyes suddenly contracting as he saw that there was white fog moving around him everywhere.

He felt a calling, a calling rooted in his blood.

Was he about to awaken his superpower? No, that couldn't be right. The superpowered individuals at the outpost had said that awakening a superpower was a very comfortable feeling. Right now, he only felt as if something was about to burst out of his chest.

Beside him, the woman tending the plants suddenly clutched her chest. A weak sound escaped her throat. "Uh, ha, ha!"

Blood was seeping from her topaz pupils, her canine teeth were biting her lip, and blood was slowly seeping from her pores.

The woman collapsed to the ground, convulsing.

Just a few seconds later, their convulsions stopped.

A person with superpowers was about to help him up when he stumbled.

Her temples throbbed, and she could clearly feel something within her body twisting and contorting with the fluctuations. Her once gentle, spring-like water-based superpower was now burning like molten lava in her veins. She looked to her boyfriend for help, only to find a gill-like gash on the back of his neck—her boyfriend possessed the ability to wield an air sword, and this power was spiraling out of control.

"Ha..." The familiar roars of zombies echoed throughout the base.

She looked at the woman she knew, whose eyes were now white, her mouth agape, staring at the sky.

She was very familiar with this posture. This woman had turned into a zombie.

Not only this woman, but many more people without superpowers were turned into zombies.

Then, she saw something gray fly out of the zombie's mouth and converge into the sky.

The strange sound, a mixture of gurgling and mucus coming from her boyfriend's throat, drew her attention again.

The spine beneath her boyfriend's military uniform was cracking, and her shoulder blades were piercing the fabric, revealing sharp white bone spurs.

Thinking back to what had just happened, she realized that her boyfriend was probably about to change as well.

What's wrong? Her heart was filled with sorrow.

We finally made it through the toughest part of the apocalypse, the very first few days.

She found a reliable boyfriend and a place that was a bit difficult to get along with, but she could manage.

They scavenged supplies from the outside, relied on their wisdom to deal with various zombies and survivors, and finally slowly built their base into a reliable home.

She knew everyone in this small farm of 50 people. She was also familiar with how to grow all the crops.

The vegetables she planted herself will be ready for harvest in a week.

Why did this happen when everything was getting better?!

Does this mean that the gods are still not satisfied after punishing us and bringing down the end of the world?

No one could answer her, because she too had turned into a zombie, staring at the sky with her mouth wide open.
