Train Survival: You're really trying to survive!
Chapter 34 Changing Route
Sofia agreed with Zurich's idea. Ivan had no objections either.
The three immediately started the train and moved forward.
After traveling 80 kilometers, they came to a fork in the road. Their original plan was to take the second road on the left to a lake. Now they decided to take the leftmost road instead.
Su Li glanced at the chat room and saw that the players who had chosen the Storm World were actively participating in the discussion.
—The wind is getting stronger and stronger, it's making my scalp ache, this is a very bad sign.
My wig flew off!!!
—Inside a survivor's cabin, I found a diary that described a serpentine monster that could ride the wind. Combined with this strong wind, I had a bad feeling.
—The animals started running underground; this must be a hint from the game. I'm going to move underground now.
—Don't panic. We've come to a place with such low danger, so I think we should seize the opportunity to gather as much as possible. The wood and fresh water I've gathered so far are enough for me to use until level 2.
—Yes, this is a golden opportunity. Haven't you learned your lesson from the hardships you endured in the desert?
—What desert? Have you forgotten we're in a merged region? I was in a saline-alkali land before.
—Saline-alkali land must be tough too…
The chat room was buzzing with activity.
"It seems the game isn't entirely without options; it's already providing various hints, from historical documents and diaries to abnormal animal behavior."
However, Su Li estimated that many people would continue to risk gathering supplies. Because many simply didn't realize what they were facing. The greatest danger they anticipated was nothing more than a tornado appearing, followed by driving to avoid it. What kind of snake riding the wind is that? Is it as powerful as a tornado?
Su Li thought for a moment and decided to explain the situation; it would be good if more people survived. After all, they were her compatriots.
Zurich—I've found some clues. There might be a monster here that attacks living creatures on the wind. It's incredibly fast and can penetrate 20-centimeter-thick concrete walls.
Zurich—don't forget that our energy level is 0.4, which means there are extraordinary beings in this world.
Zuli—If you're not confident, you might as well do what I did and hide in various underground caves right now.
—Really?
—That makes sense, but I don't believe it. What's the use of an energy level of only 0.4?
—What are the energy levels of the other worlds?
—Anyway, our Ocean World is only 0.2
—Someone has calculated that the energy level of the Storm World is the highest.
—I think that makes sense. Haven't people been saying that Storm World is brewing something big?
—I believe you, I'll go find the cave right now. There's an entrance to the cave near the mountain, right? Sigh, the wind is getting stronger and stronger, and I'm becoming more and more uneasy.
—I vaguely remember this person, isn't he the richest man in Xihong City?
—You don't watch movies at all, do you? They were just being witty.
Everyone was chatting enthusiastically, and Su Li lost interest in reading any further, so she closed the manual.
The train had been traveling for about two more hours when, as Zuli was reading, Sofia suddenly pointed out the window and shouted, "Look outside!"
Su Li quickly looked outside and saw a blue-gray wind pillar stretching straight to the sky in the distance. This wind pillar only lasted for about 20 seconds before dissipating. However, after a while, the wind pillar reformed.
"The tornado is starting to form. Tsk, thankfully we're almost there." Su Li breathed a sigh of relief.
Ivan's face also showed fear. "Someone in the chat room just said that the terrain here is strange, with a lot of mountains forming a loop-shaped structure, which makes it easy for tornadoes to form. I didn't expect to see it here."
Sofia looked at the scenery outside. Some balsa trees had their branches broken by the wind, and some individual balsa trees were blown directly to the ground. "This wind force must have reached level 8."
The winds have been at level 7 for the past two days. With winds of this strength, it feels like there's a force blocking your way when you're outside, making it difficult to walk. At level 8, the winds can break trees.
"Accelerate." Su Li went to the control panel and pressed the acceleration button. This is a function available to all trains. After pressing the acceleration button, it consumes double the fuel, continuously depleting the train's durability, and increasing the speed to a certain level.
A level 1 train normally travels at 80 kilometers per hour, but can reach 100 kilometers per hour after acceleration.
The train roared along, speeding towards its destination.
Another 20 minutes passed. Su Li stared ahead and saw a huge pit, from which the train tracks extended.
"Time to go down!"
Su Li canceled the acceleration on the panel, and then felt the surroundings suddenly become much darker.
Sofia picked up the torch and lit it inside the boiler.
A torch can provide light for 6 hours. In such a cramped carriage, only one torch is needed.
I just don't know if this kind of fire can meet the needs of the planting box.
But at this point, there's no time to tend to the planting boxes. Let the crops wither if they want to.
Su Li glanced at the time; it was 11 o'clock. After driving for another half hour, there was some wind inside the cave, but it wasn't very strong.
Zuli stopped the train, and several people began to set up torches around the train.
"Next time, install the headlights," Su Li complained.
Ivan thought for a moment, "The cheapest one is probably the carbide lamp. It can provide light as long as you add carbide, but it's not very reliable and needs to be replenished with carbide."
“Calcium carbide can only be obtained randomly when mining.” Su Li thought for a moment. “I feel that kerosene lamps are better, and electric lamps are even better, but our vehicle does not have an electric system, so buying batteries is too uneconomical.”
"After careful consideration, something called the Elemental Lamp seems pretty good; it uses fire elemental fragments. I think it's worth considering..."
“Elemental fragments… Speaking of which, Brother Su said you’ve mined elemental ore piles. What do elemental ore piles look like?” Ivan asked curiously.
“Elemental ore, it’s similar to ordinary ore piles, but elemental ore absorbs the surrounding elements, so it will glow slightly… glow?” Su Li slapped his forehead. “When the car starts moving later, keep an eye out outside. If you see anything glowing, tell me. It might be an elemental ore pile.”
As they chatted, Su Li and the others placed torches at each of the four corners of the train. The train was originally designed to hold torches, and even had a thoughtful windbreak device.
After loading, Zurich and his crew continued their voyage.
After traveling for a long time, they encountered another fork in the road. At this fork, they chose a road that led to the lower left and continued deeper into the cave.
They ventured deep underground and continued their journey until the morning of the seventh day, when they finally reached their destination.
As they ventured deeper, the light dimmed further. All around was darkness, with only the sound of a train echoing in the empty cavern.
"It would actually be quite creepy to be here all by myself. It's good that you guys are here," Su Li said with a smile.
Ivan was a little embarrassed by what was said, while Sophia was much calmer, simply looking quietly outside.
