Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 93 Press Conference (Part 2)
Reporters from various countries started snapping photos like crazy, and then they discovered that the young man who had been following the prime minister earlier was also sitting up when the staff guided the dignitaries.
Instantly, a host of questions popped into the minds of reporters from various countries: Who is this person? Isn't he the prime minister's secretary or bodyguard? Why is he sitting there? Is there a mistake? In short, all sorts of questions arose in their minds, but their hands kept pressing the shutter.
Then came the signing ceremony. Six documents were passed around for signature by the six people on stage, with each person taking one for their records. Once everyone had signed, the press officer announced the start of the next stage: a Q&A session.
When they heard that questions could be asked, all the reporters raised their hands to signal to the press officer.
As a press officer, he had known most of the journalists for many years, and he quickly picked out his old friend from among them. He chose a middle-aged male journalist, who happened to be from the BBC.
Seeing that the other party let him ask the first question, he understood their intention: to keep his question from being too pointed. Saving face is a two-way street, and he knew what to do, so he stood up and took the microphone.
"Hello, Press Officer, this is David, a reporter from the BBC. I think many people are wondering who initiated this project and why it came about. I hope Your Excellency can answer this question. Thank you!"
Upon hearing this standard question, the British Prime Minister on the stage turned on the microphone.
"To answer the BBC reporter's question, the first person to propose this plan was an official from the European Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He pointed out that in recent years, there have been various shortcomings in the people-to-people cultural exchanges among the five major countries of our planet, and a new plan is needed to strengthen our cooperative relationship, which is why this plan came about."
This kind of answer sounds like it says everything, but actually says nothing at all.
Soon the press officer announced the next question, and all the reporters raised their hands again.
A journalist from the Russian country stood up, took the microphone, and asked his country's ambassador a question.
"I am a reporter from the Red Star newspaper of the Russian Federation. May I ask the Russian ambassador what considerations led the Russian Federation to agree to this plan?"
"The five major world powers are one entity, and we need to strengthen cooperation!"
The ambassador from the Russian bear country answered very readily, but what he was thinking was, "Of course I benefited, why should I tell you?"
Soon the press officer called on a reporter from China. This reporter was a beautiful woman. After taking the microphone, she also looked at Ambassador Fu from her country.
"I am a reporter from CCTV of China. Ambassador Fu, what is the significance of the implementation of this plan, or what impact will it have on the future of the five major powers?"
"This program can effectively promote exchanges among young students from the five major countries of Earth, both sending them out and bringing them in! It will enhance students' understanding of the world, enable them to better contribute to human society, and reduce cultural conflicts between countries."
Ambassador Fu's polite and measured response won a round of applause from the audience.
After the reporters from the United States and France finished asking their questions, and the press officer announced the last question, reporters from other countries who hadn't been scheduled to ask questions began to start asking loudly and somewhat unruly questions. In the end, the press officer chose a reporter from the front row.
"Hello, Press Officer. I'm a reporter from The Sun. I'd like to ask, everyone else is an ambassador to the UK, but who is this gentleman? What is his role in this project? Could you please have him speak about it?"
It must be said that this question is very much to the liking of journalists from other countries, who have wanted to ask it for a long time but have never had the opportunity.
The press officer glanced at the stage behind him, hesitant. He hadn't met Andres before and worried that as a newcomer, he lacked experience answering questions in this setting and might make a mistake. Torren noticed this and quickly gave the press officer a subtle nod.
So the press officer didn't step in to smooth things over, and Andres had no choice but to turn on the microphone.
"Good morning, reporters. I am Andres Mori. I am the Earl of Skye, a member of the House of Lords, and the funder of this project."
After speaking, Andres turned off his microphone. The press officer saw this and understood that Andres didn't want to say more on the matter, so he announced the end of the press conference.
The VIPs on the stage left backstage under the escort of their staff, while the reporters below were dissatisfied with Andres's answer; he hadn't said anything at all. Therefore, many reporters continued to ask questions loudly, hoping to attract attention and be interviewed.
Andres quickly left the scene, getting into a car with Catherine. He really wouldn't have wanted to attend the signing ceremony press conference if he hadn't been forced to. In the car, Andres asked Catherine about their upcoming plans.
"Catherine, how are our recruitment trip arrangements going?"
"Boss, that's about it. We've arranged a private jet to facilitate your travel with the Hogwarts professors. I've spoken with Minister of Foreign Affairs Torre, and they'll send a secretary to each embassy to accompany us, but they'll need us to provide some financial support to the cooperating embassies. Now all that's left is to provide me with the list of professors traveling with us. By the way, do all the professors have passports?"
"Passport? You don't need to worry about that. I'll provide you with a list before we leave."
While Andres and Catherine were chatting, the press was in an uproar. Apart from the content of the press conference, Andres was the most attention-grabbing figure.
Foreign journalists were alright; they only mentioned Andres as the fund provider when reporting the news, and because of Andres's count status, they assumed he was just a rich kid trying to gain some fame.
But things were different in Britain. They had never heard of the Earl of Sky Isle before, and Andres represented the funding source, the Magic Education Foundation. Foreigners might not know, but they, as British citizens, knew all too well. Wasn't this the Magic Financial Investment Company, the financial investment company that had made a name for itself in the financial world in just one year?
So, on their way to publish their articles in the newspaper, they all sent people to inquire about Count Andres's background. Meanwhile, some live news commentators could only first introduce the miracles the Magic Financial Investment Company had achieved that year, mentioning Andres only briefly.
The very next day, Andres was all over the headlines of major news outlets!
