Chapter 81 Establishing Cooperation

After dinner, Alfred returned home. He told his father, who was the Foreign Secretary of the British Empire, about the old man's request, which was also the head of the family. After learning the details from Alfred, his father did not refuse.

Although it was the patriarch's request, given his current status, he could refuse. However, this meeting could bring enormous benefits to the family, so he had no reason to refuse. After thinking for a moment, he told Alfred that he could arrange a time the day after tomorrow afternoon and asked him to quickly inform James to schedule a time with the other party.

The next morning, James arrived at the company. He first arranged the work for his department, instructing his subordinates to collect all data on subprime mortgages from the United States through various means, including both publicly available and unavailable information.

He even sent several people on a business trip to the United States to gather firsthand information, with all expenses paid by the company. Their main task was to visit various parts of the United States and verify the actual situation there, because much of the publicly available data is inflated, but the extent of the inflation depends on the governments of each country.

After arranging his work and waiting for the right time, he called Catherine's secretary, saying that there had been important progress and he wanted to report directly to Catherine. After waiting a while and receiving a positive reply, he went to see Catherine.

He arrived at Catherine's office, knocked on the door, and entered.

"Boss, there's something I'd like to discuss with you about the project I'm in charge of."

"Oh? Tell me!"

"Well, as you know, my family is a large one with considerable financial resources. Last night at dinner, I mentioned to my family that my project is raising funds, and they think it's a good project and want to invest."

"Yes, that's a good thing. How much do you plan to invest? Just follow the company's procedures; there's no need to report to me specifically."

"It's around 50 million pounds. Although my family has a certain level of financial strength, most of it consists of fixed assets, and we have limited liquid funds that can be invested in one go."

"Fifty million is not a small amount; don't underestimate yourself."

"However, there is a condition in my family."

"Oh?"

"It's just that my family wants to meet with you or Mr. Andres, after all, this investment is huge."

"They want to see Mr. Andres, right? I wonder who is your relative who wants to see the big boss?"

The meaning is quite clear: not just anyone can get a meeting with the big boss.

“Oh, he’s my great-uncle. He’s the Empire’s Foreign Minister now, and I don’t think the big boss would refuse.”

"Ah! Is it Mr. Torren Hammond?"

Upon hearing this, Catherine realized that the bait she had used was too tempting, and the other party had taken the bait so quickly. So she asked in feigned surprise.

"Yes! He is my great-uncle."

“That’s amazing. I didn’t know you had such a background. Alright then, let’s arrange a time and place. Mr. Andres and I will make time for you.”

James secretly curled his lip. "They're really good at pretending. I don't believe the company didn't conduct a background check when I joined."

"Tomorrow afternoon, your great-uncle will be waiting for you and Mr. Andres at one of our family's upscale clubs."

"Okay, I got it. I'll contact the big boss right away and let you know once it's settled. Is there anything else?"

"That's all. I'll head back now. I'll wait for your message."

Watching James leave, Catherine smiled happily; it seemed things had gone smoothly. Now it was time to inform Principal Andres.

So Catherine took out paper and pen from the drawer and wrote down what had happened in a letter, summarizing it simply.

"Boss, I have a meeting with the Foreign Minister tomorrow afternoon. Do you have time to come back quickly?"

Then, glancing at the postman who was sleeping soundly on the shelf, Catherine went over and woke him up. She tied the letter to the postman's leg, opened the window, and let it fly away. The postman, initially quite annoyed at being woken from his deep sleep, became very happy upon seeing that it was going to Hogwarts to deliver mail. He hadn't been back in so long and missed his friends dearly!

The journey was quite long, and it was almost noon. The postman finally found Andres eating lunch in the auditorium. Andres opened the letter, glanced at it, and immediately understood. He hadn't expected Catherine to act so quickly; she already had news. He gestured for the postman to go and rest, then returned to the principal's office to begin writing a reply.

In summary, it's great! No problem! I'm very satisfied with your work. Let's have lunch together tomorrow! After the postman has eaten and drunk his fill, Dobby will give the letter to the postman, and that's it.

Seeing Dobby, Andres suddenly thought about whether he should summon a few more house-pocket monsters in the second half of the year. After all, with so many more people suddenly joining, the five of them definitely wouldn't be enough. Thinking of this, well! Another point-consuming task.

The postman on the other side had a very hard time, flying back and forth from London to Hogwarts in just a few hours. After handing the letter to Catherine, he unceremoniously lay down on the shelf and went to sleep.

Catherine was delighted to have the opportunity to have lunch with Andres. She pressed the pager to summon her secretary, asking her to book a restaurant for lunch the next day, and also called James over.

James soon arrived at the office and discussed the specific time and address with Catherine, and they were ready to meet the next day.

The next day at noon, Andres directly Apparated into Catherine's office. Catherine was already dressed up and waiting for the big boss's arrival.

When the two walked out of the office together, Catherine's secretary was completely dumbfounded. When did the big boss arrive? How come she didn't know? Had she made a mistake in her work? No way, she wasn't asleep. She spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out how the big boss had gotten into the office, but still couldn't understand it.

Andres never imagined that his attempt to make things convenient would cause his secretary so much anxiety.

In the afternoon, Catherine and Andreas arrived at the agreed-upon location without any other guests. It was a high-end clubhouse in the suburbs of London, open only to members, so there was no need to worry about unrelated people disturbing them.

Minister Torren only brought a driver/bodyguard and a secretary, along with James.

Upon meeting, both sides greeted each other warmly. After all, one was a high-ranking official with great power and influence, and the other was a future benefactor. They flattered each other, a practice described in Chinese parlance as "a beggar carrying a sedan chair."

“Minister Torren, hello. I am Catherine, and this gentleman next to me is my boss, Count Andres.”

"Ah, hello Earl Andres! I've heard so much about you, but I've never had the chance to meet you. Miss Catherine, you are even more beautiful and charming than the rumors say."

Catherine thought to herself, "No wonder she's a diplomat, she really knows how to talk!"
