Huh? There's a magic school here.

Chapter 458 Preparation before departure

"Ul Costa, is it your bed that controls you?"

"Come on, Jackson, I wish it was the soft bed that kept me in check! Unfortunately, what prevented me from arriving on time was my adorable little sister; she insisted on coming with me. To prevent her from interfering with our schedule today, I signed a series of unequal treaties!"

"That must have been really hard on you, Ur! Let's go, we still have a lot to buy today!"

After speaking, Jackson Booker and Ul Costa headed towards the bookstore across the street, bypassing the passageway leading to the Leaky Cauldron. The Leaky Cauldron was now completely overrun by Muggles, packed with people regardless of whether it was a day off or not. Even with repeated staff expansions, the massive influx of customers couldn't keep up. Long queues even formed outside the cauldron, so the students of Hogwarts had now reached a consensus: never go to Diagon Alley via the Leaky Cauldron.

In fact, most students nowadays prefer to use the Floo Network because it's only usable by wizards, so they don't have to worry about crowds. As for Jackson and Ur, they chose a less crowded entrance because they were on holiday and didn't have fireplaces at home.

This bookstore is the relatively less crowded entrance, while many people exit from there. Even so, large crowds often gather in front of the bookstore waiting to enter Diagon Alley.

Jackson and Ul, dressed like Muggles during summer vacation, went unnoticed and weren't recognized as wizards. This was a lesson learned by Hogwarts students: if you just want to shop normally, it's best to keep your attire inconspicuous. Otherwise, you'll be mobbed like a movie star. Some just want autographs or photos, which is fine. But some are more bizarre and hard to describe—I'll spare you the details here.

Long lines had already begun forming outside the bookstore, in anticipation of the Aurors' random checks. Yes, not inspections, but random checks, because when Diagon Alley opened, the Ministry of Magic had prepared a plan: they would send an entry badge by owl to every Muggle who planned to visit Diagon Alley the following day. However, after a while, the Ministry discovered that some wizards were making their own badges to try and deceive their relatives and friends.

Therefore, the Ministry of Magic had no choice but to assign Aurors to conduct random checks on badges at each entrance and exit. This policy did indeed greatly curb the arrogance of those counterfeiters, but it wasn't without consequences—the consequence being the current long queues.

However, Jackson and Ul had no intention of queuing like the Muggles. They went straight to the front of the line, whispered a few words to the Aurors at the door, and showed them an envelope. The Aurors glanced at it briefly and then indicated that they could go in.

Their actions caused a commotion within the group, but it was quickly quelled by the Aurors.

“Jackson and Ul are students at Hogwarts, and they need to buy supplies for the next term.”

Even a simple explanation sparked discussion within the team.

"They're wizards, but they look so ordinary!"

"Wizards are just like us, no different from us. They just can use magic!"

"If I had known they were wizards, I should have gone over and taken a picture with them! Alice took a picture with a little witch last time she came and bragged about it for ages!"

"Sigh, why don't I have the talent of a wizard!"

"Alright, Albert! Most people don't have it! If everyone had wizarding talent, wouldn't things be chaotic!"

Jackson and Ul were in Diagon Alley, so they didn't hear the Muggles' chatter. Even if they had, they wouldn't have cared much, as they'd been the envy and jealousy of those around them since they entered Hogwarts, and they were used to it. When they entered the bookstore, they glanced briefly at the shelves; they realized they no longer needed most of the books.

Moreover, many of these books are simply intended by the Ministry of Magic to fool Muggles. There are very few books about the use of magic, since Muggles wouldn't understand them anyway. On the contrary, there are many esoteric books on divination, because people always hope to know their future so they have enough confidence when making decisions.

After discovering they couldn't find the books they wanted, the two went into Diagon Alley. Once inside, they didn't go anywhere else, but went straight to the candy store across the street. This was at Ul's insistence, because one of the clauses in the unequal treaty he signed stipulated that he had to buy candy for his lovely little sister.

This is a newly opened candy store, called Tea and Flower Candy Store, opened last year by a Hufflepuff alumnus. As the name suggests, their main products are various tea-infused and flower-themed candies. Their products have been well-received by women from all walks of life, especially little witches.

The moment they entered, they were hit by an overwhelmingly sweet smell, so they quickly closed the door and retreated. Just as they were mentally preparing themselves, the candy store door was pushed open from the inside. Several girls came out, giggling and giving them strange looks. Finally, Jackson and Ul mustered their courage and pushed the door open again, stepping back inside. Once inside, it felt like they had entered a tea party, albeit one filled with an unusually large number of beautiful flowers.

Because there were mostly women inside and the air was too sweet, the two of them had no interest in staying any longer. So they quickly picked out a few candies that looked appealing, bought them, filled in their home address, and asked the clerk to send them home for them.

After leaving the candy store, the two of them breathed a long sigh of relief.

"Jackson, what do you need to buy today?"

"Some quills and parchment, and if possible, a backpack with a seamless stretching spell. I have quite a lot to take to the continent of Karen, what about you, Ur?"

“I need quills and parchment too, we can share them. But besides those, I also need some magical materials and potion-making materials for experiments.”

"I almost forgot, you took the advanced course in pharmacy! Looks like I'll have to rely on you for the potions I need from now on, Ur!"

"No problem, don't worry, Jackson is being carried by his dad!"

"Godfather, come again!"

"Good boy, my adopted son!"

"That's really kicking a snake while it's still hot!"

After saying that, Jackson pretended to grab Ul's neck, and the two of them playfully walked toward a potions shop.
