Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 434 The Last Day of June (1)
The soldiers of the Dragon Kingdom and many Aurors crouched in their trenches, their gazes shifting from the approaching orcs. What truly captivated them were the wyverns in the sky, leaving even the well-traveled wizards stunned. They had seen dragons many times, from their time at Hogwarts to their graduation internships, always encountering these colossal creatures. But this was the first time they had ever witnessed such a massive swarm flying towards them. Fortunately, these wyverns weren't targeting them, which brought a sigh of relief to many.
But soon they started to worry again: could so many bases defend this thing? Humans are always filled with fear of the unknown. Even though they knew that the big thing flying in the sky was a dragon, they still couldn't help but feel fear in their hearts.
Everyone knows that dinosaurs were large and powerful, but knowing that doesn't mean everyone would be terrified if they actually appeared. However, the rapid-fire anti-aircraft guns and missiles from the base soon brought some relief, as the overwhelming number of wyverns were hit.
Although the wyverns were equipped with armor in key areas, they still found it difficult to withstand human automated firepower. In particular, the explosive power of missiles was enormous, and the wyverns in the sky were constantly being shot down, crashing heavily onto an invisible light shield before either being bounced off or sliding down.
The professionals riding on the wyverns were also affected, but most of them, sheltered on the wyverns, suffered little direct harm. They fell with the wyverns, then jumped off at a suitable height. Of course, a few unlucky ones were injured by falling wyverns, but most landed outside the human base.
As the second line of defense, Chen Yongren stared dumbfounded as the giant monsters fell from the sky like dumplings. His first thought wasn't fear, but rather, "Are these things edible? If they are, the base will probably be eating them for a long time."
As Chen Yongren imagined how to devour these wyverns, the elven ranger on their backs was filled with terror. It could hardly believe that humans possessed such powerful anti-aircraft weaponry. If the humans of the Karen Continent had displayed such strength back then, it doubted it would have become a slave to the orcs.
The wyvern force was now circling above the Dragon Kingdom's outpost, attempting both physical attacks and skill-based attacks from its members. Unfortunately, these attacks did nothing to damage the outpost's protective shield, nor did they show any signs of collapse.
Meanwhile, the warriors aboard the downed wyverns were engaged in battle with the wizards from Earth on the ground and were unable to offer any assistance. This greatly distressed the attacking forces in the sky, as they continued to be shot down and killed by the Earth humans. Just as the wyverns and warriors were suffering setbacks in their attack, a shocking scene unfolded.
A white-robed orc priest stepped forward, shouted "For the Orc Empire! For the Gods!" and resolutely leaped off the wyvern. As its body slammed into the protective shield, it suddenly burst into a white light and then exploded violently.
Then, with a loud boom, the protective shield above the Dragon Kingdom's outpost shook. Seeing that the self-destruction had been effective on the back of the wyverns, the professionals began to imitate it, their actions creating ripples on the shield like raindrops hitting water.
The battlefield was eerily quiet. Whether it was the Sword Saint Samuro observing from the distant sky or the Dragon Kingdom soldiers and wizards crouching in the trenches, their expressions grew solemn. They all felt a deep respect for these self-sacrificing individuals, and regardless of whether they were enemies, such respect was deserved.
Samuro addressed the generals behind him.
"They are heroes, heroes of our Orcish Empire! Someone, send the list of those who participated in this attack to the capital and tell the great king everything that has happened here. They deserve the honor commensurate with their achievements. Tell everyone that this is my decision! If anyone dares to object, I will return and duel them to the death!"
"Yes, Sword Saint. I will handle this matter personally!"
After speaking, an orc dressed as a civil official left the group and headed towards the rear camp.
Meanwhile, everyone at the Dragon Kingdom's outpost silently watched what was happening before them. Andres, observing the orcs' actions, was reminded of his comrades from his past life. They too had tried to defend their country and their loved ones in this way, but they had ultimately failed. Now that he had a second chance, this scene should not befall humanity.
He wanted to ensure that none of this would ever happen to humans, and then Andres cast a loud spell on himself.
"Stop daydreaming, they are the enemy! This is a war to the death. If you don't want this to happen to you, eliminate them!"
Andres's voice echoed across the battlefield, snapping everyone out of their shock. Many eyes, initially filled with confusion, hardened with determination, while others gripped their weapons, ready for battle.
The orcs' attacks continued, both on the ground and in the air. Just as the elf was about to sacrifice herself, a cheer suddenly erupted from below. Looking down, it saw someone had landed on the ground; the orcs' protective shield had shattered! It had finally succumbed to the self-destruction of hundreds of professionals, and no matter how desperately the human wizards tried to replenish their magic, they couldn't withstand the orcs' onslaught.
The remaining wyverns and warriors in the sky launched attacks downwards, but after such a long period of attrition, very few were still capable of fighting. Meanwhile, the defense personnel at the Dragon Kingdom's outpost were ready, and magical creatures like Andres's pet Thunder and Dumbledore's pet Phoenix had long been eager to take to the skies and engage in battle.
The soldiers of the Dragon Kingdom, armed with guerrilla weapons, had to carefully avoid hitting them, which led many to complain that these magical creatures were so belligerent and were interfering with their work.
The orcs initially wanted to engage the combatants in a real fight, until someone who seemed to be their captain reminded them of their mission. They weren't there to fight the humans; they were there to destroy the ranged weapons.
So the wyverns and warriors abandoned their opponents and charged headlong into the still-spitting fire artillery. The Dragon Kingdom's soldiers and wizards, of course, wouldn't stand idly by; they fought with all their might to prevent the enemy from reaching their allies.
