Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 265 Gryffindor's Chamber of Courage
What is it about your child that makes you hesitate?
Seven Ackerman looked up at the talking portrait on the wall; this was the first time in five years he had seen the portrait speak.
Usually, this portrait is either sleeping or the person has disappeared. Nobody cares where they go! After all, it's just an oil painting, and the person doesn't seem to be a famous person. But unexpectedly, today this portrait actually spoke on its own!
"Sir, hello! I'm just hesitating about whether or not to try to break into the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin! You know, many Hogwarts students try to break into the Chamber of Secrets before their fifth year! Originally, it was supposed to be done in the third year, but the failure rate is very high. So now everyone has postponed it by a year, but I still feel like I'm not ready! But I also feel like if I don't go soon, I'll fall too far behind everyone else."
The painting raised its eyebrows and spoke to Seven Ackerman.
"Life doesn't always offer enough preparation. If you're even 50% sure, you should give it a try! What if you succeed!"
"But I only have three chances. If I fail, the pressure will only be greater!"
"What? Three chances! My God! If I had three chances back then, I would have been ecstatic!"
Seven Ackerman stared blankly at the painting, which seemed to be going crazy, while the painting stared back at him.
"You know what? Kid! I ruled the British Isles for thirty-seven years! I did my best to maintain this country, but these greedy nobles are pinning the blame for its downfall on me!"
Seven Ackerman still didn't know who this man who claimed to be the King of Great Britain was, so he didn't interrupt the painting.
“They plotted to kill my brother, and I was only ten years old when I ascended the throne! They thought a ten-year-old king would be easier to control than an adult king! But that was a long time ago; the Danish Vikings were already at our doorstep! They were still fighting amongst themselves, and this corrupt kingdom was long gone! It was me! It was me who was working so hard to keep this country going!”
Seven Ackerman, with an expression that suggested he was a history dunce, asked cautiously.
"you are?"
“Me?! I am Ethelred II, the end of the Anglo-Saxon era! Listen to this! The end of an era! They blame everything on me! I was only eleven years old when the Battle of More was launched! It's the fault of these aristocrats who are unwilling to serve their country. A king may not always be a king, but a nobleman will always be a nobleman! The rise and fall of the nation has nothing to do with them. They will still be noblemen even if the king changes!”
And so Ethelred II and Seven Ackerman complained for a long time, perhaps because it hadn't spoken to the wizards in a long time.
However, as the two were talking, King Ethelred II suddenly remembered something.
"Alright, kid! Thanks for listening to this old man reminisce about the old days!"
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for strengthening my resolve to venture into the secret chamber."
"Ah, speaking of the Chamber of Secrets! As one of the oldest painters at Hogwarts, I happen to know about one! That Chamber of Secrets was left by Godric Gryffindor. I wonder if you would be willing to take the test and try it!"
Upon hearing this, Seven Ackerman's eyes widened immediately! What? He had actually found the Chamber of Secrets left by Godric Gryffindor by sheer coincidence! He was the discoverer of the third Chamber of Secrets! You see, the students of Hogwarts had gone to great lengths to find the other two Chambers of Secrets over the past few years, but they never expected that the secret would be hidden in this usually inconspicuous portrait.
"What? You don't seem too keen? Then just pretend I didn't say anything! You can come find me whenever you want to go and take a look!"
Seven Ackerman misunderstood the portrait and quickly explained.
"No, Your Majesty! I am willing, of course I am willing to go and see!"
"Then come with me, let's go see what Godric Gryffindor has left behind!"
After he finished speaking, a door appeared in the wall behind the painting. Seven stepped forward and opened the door. Then he took out his wand and used a fluorescent flash to illuminate the passage to the secret chamber. The moment the door closed, it disappeared from the Gryffindor common room, and the entire common room returned to its usual tranquility.
Seven walked through the secret passage for about ten minutes, estimating that he had arrived at a basement in the castle. Just then, the image of Æthelred II appeared in a mural on the wall beside him, and it spoke to Seven.
"See that mirror over there? Go up to it!"
Without hesitation, Seven went to the mirror. The once ordinary mirror began to change, revealing a medieval scene: castles, windmills, farmers, and cows! Then, a line of text suddenly appeared on the mirror: "Ready for a great adventure?"
Seven nodded and said, "Yes, I'm ready!"
Then he disappeared from the spot and entered the world in the mirror!
Just as Seven entered the Chamber of Secrets in Gryffindor to begin his trial, Andres was reviewing documents in the Headmaster's office. Suddenly, he noticed system notifications flashing in his mind. Confused, Andres opened the system. It displayed a new illusionary quest: Gryffindor's Trial of Courage.
The trial has begun! Seven Ackerman, a fifth-year Gryffindor student! Andres was overjoyed to see this; finally, the third secret chamber had opened. How many years had it been! He'd almost forgotten about it! Now, he just wondered how long it would take this Gryffindor student to complete the trial!
However, Seven is experiencing a completely different scene during the trial mission!
At this moment, Seven was implanted with a false memory, in which he was just the son of an ordinary farmer in the Kingdom of Gran. Seven completely forgot that he was a wizard, and completely forgot that he was only here for a trial. He only remembered that besides himself and his parents, he had a younger brother who was two years younger than him. The sixteen-year-old Seven and his brother had secretly sneaked into the mountains to find some food.
In the forest, they encountered their first trouble. Initially, he and his brother were delighted to have discovered a wild fruit grove. However, after picking fruit for a while, Seven suddenly noticed a leopard lurking under his brother's tree. Clearly, the leopard had spotted the two brothers picking fruit, but after some consideration, it chose to prey on the weaker brother.
The younger brother was already crying from fright, and Seven himself was terrified. He knew he had to do something, but he was clearly no match for the leopard! But if he did nothing and sneaked away, his younger brother would be doomed!
Seven now faces only two paths: one is to lure the leopard away so his brother can live but he might die; the other is to sneak away and live but his brother is doomed!
