Huh? There's a magic school here.

Chapter 144 The Arrival of the Exchange Students

Thus, the new students were all given various lectures by their respective house prefects, with the overall aim of ensuring they had a pleasant student life at Hogwarts.

Marion and Austin were assigned to the same dormitory, and they were quite happy when they found it. Being able to sit in the same compartment on the train, be assigned to the same house, and even be roommates meant that the two were destined to become best friends! However, they soon discovered that the other two beds in the dormitory were empty, and it wasn't until the second night that they learned that their roommates were among the second batch of young wizards to arrive.

Andres returned to the principal's office and began writing to Catherine, reminding her to pay attention to the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States and to make sure the exchange students were properly taken care of. Although their tuition and living expenses were waived after their exchange, Andres asked Catherine to prepare a stipend of one thousand pounds for each of them, considering that they would still need to buy some things.

This £1,000 is paid by the education fund, and it's a regular annual payment of £1,000. Local students from disadvantaged families can also apply for this fund. As for repayment, Andres hasn't considered it because he's not short of money; he even hopes students will borrow more because such favors are hard to repay. If the school educates you and then gives you money to spend without expecting repayment, how can you refuse when the school needs your help later?

The next day, Hogwarts welcomed its second batch of 120 new students. The process was the same as the first day, except that the long table was now filled with the young wizards from the previous day who had come to watch the excitement. The young wizards who arrived yesterday had gotten up very late this morning, some even missing breakfast. They were so excited about making new friends, and since they had no classes today, everyone slept in late.

On the third day, things got interesting. The students from the United States had arrived. They had been scattered throughout the country, having gathered in New York a few days prior and then taken a chartered flight. Upon arrival in London, they all stayed at the same hotel. Then, on August 27th, they went together to Platform 9¾ at King's Cross Station to board the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade Village, and they were quite excited throughout the journey.

However, Elliott Turner and his group were somewhat undisciplined and individualistic.

On the fourth day, while the group of students from the United States were being sorted into their houses, students from Russia and France were also sent to Hogwarts. Although both groups were white and could communicate in English, they automatically stuck together because they were new to their respective countries. Only a few members of the elite group liked to join in the conversations with the other group; overall, there was no hostile behavior that Andres had feared.

Finally, the young wizards from the Dragon Kingdom arrived. They had become quite familiar with each other after living together for over fifty days at the Dragon Kingdom's Diplomatic Academy. They had arrived a day early because they were flying across continents to the British capital, mainly to help them adjust to the time difference.

Before their departure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dragon Kingdom sent someone to encourage the children, even though they didn't know they would become wizards. Upon arriving in the British capital, the Dragon Kingdom's military attaché, surnamed Wang, personally greeted the children and told them they could come to the embassy if they encountered any difficulties. The embassy was their home, and the embassy would care for every child studying in Britain!

Among these children, our little She Jingyi was the one who received special attention from the very beginning. After these children were selected, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education obtained their basic information. From the information, they discovered that She Jingyi was a martyr's family member! Her father had sacrificed his life on the front lines of public security, and her mother's whereabouts were unknown. Although it stated that her mother's whereabouts were unknown, some experienced individuals still noticed something unusual.

How could a family member of a martyr go missing? A closer look reveals there might be more to it than meets the eye, because some things cannot be said or recorded. Therefore, the staff from the Dragon Kingdom took great care of She Jingyi during this time, though the young girl was unaware of it.

Thanks to the special care Andres provided for the young wizards from the Dragon Kingdom, their studies at the Diplomatic Academy went very smoothly. They were able to live, study, and communicate without any obstacles, which greatly reassured the staff of the Dragon Kingdom.

On August 30th, Elliott Turner instructed the students from China to enter the station separately. He arranged for the prefects, both male and female, to each lead a small group into Platform 9¾. The reason for this was that the students from China were different from the previous students. Their yellow skin would attract attention in white society, so it was safer to have them led into King's Cross Station in batches.

Fortunately, the journey went smoothly. After all, the British capital is an international metropolis. The occasional foreigner wasn't too conspicuous, so the young wizards quickly boarded the train and arrived at Hogsmeade Village.

After all the young wizards were seated at the Three Broomsticks pub, Elliott Turner took out a hundred envelopes from his pocket and gave the children some instructions.

"Here is a grant from the education fund for you. This money is for you to purchase necessary study materials! I believe you also saw the list of items to purchase in your acceptance letters. You can go to the shops in Hogsmeade Village to buy them after you are dismissed. As for the remaining money, it is your pocket money. I hope you will use it wisely."

Oh, and don't be stingy with your money! You get this money every year! Besides, you won't need to spend much at Hogwarts, maybe just some snacks or little trinkets. And remember to be here at 5:30 tomorrow, dressed in your school uniforms, waiting for your Hogwarts professors to pick you up. Don't forget! Otherwise, you might miss your Sorting Ceremony!

After saying that, Elliott Turner announced the disbandment and left, saying he had to go back to the school to report on the situation.

Guo Mingyu, from Beijing, came from an ordinary family. His academic performance was average, but as a Beijing resident, getting into university was relatively easy. Just as he was waiting for news after the college entrance exam, he received a call from his school asking him to go to the municipal education bureau. His family and he thought something had happened, but little did they know that his life would undergo a dramatic change.

He was selected to study abroad as an exchange student, and more importantly, the school he was going to was Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When he saw the young professor waving his wand and unleashing magic, he was completely dumbfounded! What the hell is going on? This is nothing like what I've been learning all these years! Aren't we supposed to believe in science?! But tell me, what's with the existence of magic in this world?

What's even more unbelievable is that Hogwarts is just a place from the novels! How did it end up in front of me?! And they want me to study magic! Should I say yes? Or yes?! To hell with university, I'm not going! I'm going somewhere more interesting! However, because this had to be kept secret, all I could say was that I was selected to study abroad, which caused quite a stir in the class group chat.
