Huh? There's a magic school here.

Chapter 132 Bernhard's New Job

Bernhard stood in front of the poster and looked at its contents. It turned out to be a job posting for an apprentice.

"Due to our new store opening, we are now recruiting an apprentice. The job duties include cleaning the pets' cages and feeding and watering them on time. Applicants need to be responsible, courageous, and meticulous. The daily wage is £60, and lunch is provided. We look forward to working with you."

It's clear that Ms. Nancy still has a childlike heart, because she drew the job advertisement herself. The background of the job advertisement features several cartoon animals and a witch holding a broom. Bernhard looked at the poster and then at the general; he seemed to have thought of something, so he returned to Nancy and Joanna's side.

The two ladies, engrossed in haggling, were completely unaware that Bernhard had left and then returned, so Bernhard coughed lightly!

"Excuse me, may I interrupt you both? I have a question for Ms. Nancy!"

The two women stopped and turned their gaze to Bernhard.

"Ms. Nancy, I saw that your shop is recruiting apprentices!"

"Yes, you'd like to give it a try?"

"Yes, I think I can do this job."

Nancy looked Benhard up and down, then asked.

"This job might be a bit tiring. You know, cleaning up animal poop and food scraps is quite a hassle! Have you thought it through?"

"Yes, I can accept that. I also have another suggestion."

"Oh?"

"I'll work here until school starts, and it'll only cost me fifty pounds a day! But when school starts, you have to give me the General!"

"Hehe, you're quite the little sly one! There are less than twenty days until school starts, and even if you save ten pounds a day, it's still less than two hundred pounds. Plus, the General will be supported by the shop during this time, so you can save money and still get a salary. What a brilliant idea!"

"Joanna, you'd better watch out! Your little boyfriend is no ordinary person; he's got a lot of ideas!"

"So you've agreed to hire me as an apprentice?"

"Yes, that's because I'm short-staffed and you seem like the perfect fit! I'll agree to your terms, consider it an employee discount! When do you plan to start work?"

"Well, I might need to go back to school first to tell them I'm moving back to the dorm ahead of schedule, so it's definitely too late today. How about starting tomorrow?"

"Okay, remember to come at nine o'clock sharp tomorrow morning! I need to tell you a few things; these magical creatures are not easy to deal with!"

"Then we'll head back now. I'll be back on time tomorrow."

After saying that, Bernhard pulled his girlfriend Joanna away from the Fantastic Beasts Shop. Joanna was still a little confused. "I was having a great time bargaining and I was about to win! How did you manage to buy it for a lower price?"

"Are you planning to move back to Hogwarts tonight?"

"Yes, otherwise it would be too troublesome to take the Knight Bus back and forth every day, and I wouldn't be able to get to work on time!"

"then what do I do?"

"You can hitch a ride to see me, it won't be more than a few days apart! If that doesn't work, you can find an apprenticeship job first!"

"That's a good idea. Let's go and see if other shops need to recruit apprentices!"

And so the two began exploring Hogsmeade Village again, discovering new and interesting trinkets each time they visited. By the time they had finished exploring in the afternoon, Joanna hadn't found a suitable apprentice and had to give up. Bernhard took her back to Hogwarts to find Professor Sprout.

Bernhard told Professor Sprout about what happened at the Magical Beasts Shop that day, and Professor Sprout readily agreed to his student's request. However, Professor Sprout still reminded Bernhard that although it was the holidays, since he had chosen to move back to his dormitory, he still needed to abide by the school rules, which meant he had to be back before curfew every day.

Bernhard readily agreed to Professor Sprout's request, and then he and Joanna took the 16 PM Knight Bus home. On the bus, he said goodbye to Stan, explaining that he planned to take the 19 PM bus back that evening. Stan, of course, had no reason to refuse, especially after Bernhard gave him some toffee, which made him even happier.

When he got back, Bernhard started packing his things, and his parents asked him a question, which seemed rather strange.

"Benhard, isn't it a bit too early to start learning? You don't need to pack your bags so soon!"

"Oh, Mom and Dad, you're back! That's wonderful. I have something to tell you."

Then Bernhard told his parents about what had happened that day. They didn't object to his decision and even supported it somewhat, telling him to work hard so they could help him pack. That evening, Bernhard returned to his Hogwarts residence. In the kitchen opposite the Hufflepuff common room, the house-elves heard the noise outside and knew someone had returned to Hufflepuff. The house-elves quickly prepared a dinner and brought it over, worried that the Hufflepuffs might not have eaten.

Just as Benhard was enjoying another private dinner, the young wizard who had visited Hogsmeade Village was once again promoting the place in the MSN group for the first cohort of students.

"The butterbeer was pretty good today! Those of you going tomorrow should try it!"

"Are you sure you're talking about butterbeer and not something else? Why does it taste so sweet and cloying to me?!"

"Everyone has different tastes! I saw Beretta at Florin's Ice Cream Shop today, and she ordered me a 'Little Friends in the Forest' dessert. It was pretty good!"

"I saw it too, I'm so envious of her amazing job, not only does she get fifty pounds a day, but she also gets a free ice cream... I love it!"

"Huh? Hogsmeade Village has such an amazing job? Are they hiring? I really want to go!"

"Then you'd better hurry, besides Florin's Ice Cream Shop, Lady Malkin's Robes Shop is also staffed—it's Collette!"

"Yes, I saw Collette when I was getting my clothes altered there! It seems like the Fantastic Beasts Shop has hired someone too, but I don't know who it is."

"Yes, I saw that the shop owner, Ms. Nancy, put away the job posting! I wonder who got the job. I'll find out when I go back in a few days."

"What you're saying makes me regret it so much. If I had known, I would have gone today. Maybe I could have become an apprentice."

"It's okay, other stores are hiring too. Believe in yourself, you can do it!"

"I'll lend you some good words!"

The entire MSN group was filled with this kind of discussion, which was one of the little wizards' sources of enjoyment.

Today was just a small test for Hogsmeade Village's trial operation. Every shop made some money, with Florin's Ice Cream Shop having the highest sales. Basically, everyone who came to Hogsmeade Village ordered at least two ice creams, one when they arrived and one when they left. Next was Honeydukes Candy Shop, where most of the parents who came bought some candy to take home.
