Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 105 Hogsmeade Village (Part 2)
Everyone turned around and saw a short, plump woman wearing a purple robe walk in.
Upon seeing the newcomer, Garrick Ollivander quickly stood up, waved, and called out.
"Here I am, Mrs. Malkin! It's been so long! I never expected to see you here!"
“Garrick! It has indeed been a long time! I never expected that we would meet in Hogsmeade Village in the New World.”
As she spoke, Mrs. Morkin walked to the table, and Andres began to speak.
"Please sit down, Madam. I am Andreas Morrie, the current Headmaster of Hogwarts."
"Oh, hello Mr. Andres. I was just tidying up in the shop when I received a message from the house-elf and came over."
"Thank you for your cooperation. I mainly wanted to gather everyone here for a meeting so I can explain some things. But you can have a drink while you wait for the others to arrive."
"Thank you, Principal Andres."
After Mrs. Malkin finished speaking, she joined the group drinking and chatting. Next to enter the shop were Ambrose Froome and his wife from Honeydukes Candy Shop. The two of them were also former Hogwarts students, and after graduating, they opened a candy shop in Hogsmeade Village, which was very popular with the students.
Then people gradually joined in, and the Three Brooms Bar started to get lively.
Finally, Nancy Eiffel, the owner of the Magical Animals Shop, arrived.
Ms. Nancy Eiffel came in and apologized to everyone.
"Sorry everyone, I'm late. The little ones in the shop were just too noisy, I need to feed and water them before I can leave."
“It’s alright, Ms. Nancy Eiffel. Everyone’s just chatting, it won’t hurt to wait a little while.”
After saying that, Andres stepped forward, raised his glass, and addressed everyone.
"First of all, I want to thank you all for coming. Your presence has been a great help to me. Let's raise a glass and celebrate together."
After finishing his beer, Andres downed his glass, and everyone else followed suit, taking a big gulp. Seeing that everyone had drunk their butterbeer, Andres put down his empty glass and continued.
"I know that many of you prefer Diagon Alley. But our current circumstances don't allow it. As you know, the path of magic in our world has only just begun. Before you arrived, there were fewer than eighty junior wizards, including us professors. Even with the addition of the new students next semester, there are only a little over eight hundred."
This number of people isn't enough to support a commercial street, but Hogwarts' many young wizards do need a place to replenish their supplies, so I thought of Hogsmeade Village. Because Hogsmeade Village is very close to Hogwarts, it would be convenient for the young wizards to come out and play on weekends; we can't always keep them confined in the castle.
The young wizards need rest and recreation in addition to their studies, so I've decided to invite everyone to Hogsmeade Village for now. If you set up your shops in Diagon Alley, the young wizards won't be able to go there on weekends, and you won't have any customers except during summer and winter vacations.
After Andres finished speaking, he observed everyone's reactions. Garrick Ollivander, being more perceptive, immediately spoke up.
“We understand, Principal Andres. You must be doing this for our own good, and I'm sure you don't intend to cause us any trouble.”
Then the other shop owners started to chime in.
"Yes, yes, Principal Andres considers things more than we do."
Andres nodded in satisfaction and continued.
"Thank you all for your understanding and support. I promise that when we have more wizards in the future, we will build our own Diagon Alley in London, and I will reserve a shop for each of you there. I believe that day is not far away."
"Thank you, Principal Andres. I propose we all raise a glass!" Catherine cleverly played the role of a shill!
Andres picked up the new wine glass that Ms. Rosmerta had brought him and raised it high!
"To the future!"
Everyone took another big gulp of butterbeer.
"Next, I'd like to ask you all that there will be 800 students attending Hogwarts in the new school year. Will that put too much pressure on you?"
“Headmaster Andres, generally speaking, eight hundred students wouldn't put any pressure on us. Hogwarts has always maintained a student body of around a thousand, with no more than two hundred new students joining each year. But this is the first time we've had nearly eight hundred students join at once, though fortunately we have time to prepare. When do you plan to open Hogsmeade Village?”
It was Garrick Ollivander who spoke; he and Madam Malkin had the most important tasks. This was because theirs were custom-made, not generic. Wands and school robes, for example, required the young wizards to choose them personally. Other shops like Flourish and Blotts and Literati Quill Shop sold generic products, so stockpiling more supplies was fine.
"I plan to have the new young wizards arrive at Hogwarts a week early, which will help alleviate the pressure of the number of students during the Sorting Ceremony."
“Principal Andres, I have a suggestion that I think you can consider.”
“Oh? Ms. Rosmerta, please speak.”
"I suggest you extend this time by a few days, since September 1st and 2nd fall on a weekend this year. That means those two days can be counted as the early registration period. I just heard the professors mention that we also have the Knight Bus; if possible, I think parents could also come and visit Hogsmeade Village."
This will help strengthen parents' trust in the school! It will also be beneficial to the development of our Hogsmeade Village.
The only problem is that we'll need to trouble Stan and Ern to make several trips back and forth over the next few days.
"Yes, thank you, Ms. Rosmerta. We will consider your opinion. However, the professors and I need to think about it carefully when we get back. Does anyone else have any opinions?"
“Headmaster Andres, there’s one more very important point I haven’t mentioned. That is, resupply. We can buy most supplies in the Muggle world, but we’re new here and lack access. However, some magical items, like the wand cores I need to make wands, will require your help. My shop currently only has about a thousand wands. I need to consider not only this year’s freshmen but also next year’s students. These thousand are barely enough, but what about next year? I think there will be even more students next year.”
“Yes, Mr. Garrick is right. There will only be more new students next year, so the problem of supplies must be solved. Miss Catherine, would you please stand next to me?”
Then Catherine stood up from the table and walked over to Andres, standing there quietly.
"Everyone, let me introduce you. The person standing next to me is Miss Catherine Morey, who is currently providing supplies for Hogwarts. In a moment, you can think about what supplies you need, and I will have Catherine purchase them for you first. Once you have your own purchasing channels, you can choose to buy them yourself or continue having Catherine purchase them for you."
