The boy looked at the beautiful woman who smiled gently at him, and his eyes immediately showed a look of being flattered. He was stunned and stood there helplessly.

He loosened his grip, and in his distraction, the tray slipped from his hands, shattering on the ground with a crisp crash.

Seeing this, the males around them quickly turned their pent-up resentment into anger.

The females' cold treatment of them had already fueled their resentment, and now seeing her smile gently at the fish only intensified their jealousy.

Jealous gazes, like sharp blades, were directed at the boy, as if they wanted to corner him and drive away this "eyesore" so they could monopolize the females' attention.

The boy felt a tightness in his chest when he felt those burning and fierce gazes, and instantly snapped out of his daze.

He quickly lowered his head, his face pale, his body trembling slightly, his hands instinctively clenched in front of him, trying to suppress his fear, but he couldn't stop shaking.

He knew he had inadvertently offended these powerful males, and in his fear, he dared not look at the beautiful female again.

"Useless thing, get out of here and don't disturb the females."

Upon hearing the cold mockery, the boy trembled violently, a look of humiliation and unease appearing in his eyes.

He pursed his lips, quickly lowered his head, and retreated towards the door, almost shrinking himself into a tiny shadow, hoping to disappear from those fierce gazes.

Just as he was about to leave, the beautiful female spoke softly: "Wait."

Her voice was gentle, yet it could calm the commotion around her.

The boy froze, stopping timidly but not daring to look up at her. He could only apologize softly, his voice trembling slightly: "Madam, I'm sorry to have disturbed you."

Yan Shu reached out her hand.

The boy instantly closed his eyes, his fingers gripping the hem of his clothes tightly, his whole body tense with nervousness, unsure whether to continue leaving or stay.

Yan Shu was puzzled when she saw how scared he looked.

She handed the small stone to the boy, and the stone emitted a soft, warm glow from her fingertips, as if awakening some dormant power.

She chuckled softly and praised in a low voice, "You dropped your stone. It was quite a beautiful stone, actually."

The boy stared blankly at the light shimmering in her palm, a look of shock on his face.

He had never seen such an ordinary stone shine in the hands of others, especially this beautiful female.

The boy took the stone. "Thank you... thank you, Madam Female!"

He turned and left, holding the stone.

As soon as the boy left, Yan Shu was once again surrounded by those males.

She was truly terrified.

I quickly made up an excuse to slip away.

After she came out, she wondered whether she should pay.

None of the males made her pay.

Yan Shu put the cloak back on. She wanted to find Xia Luoge and the others to ask them when they were going back.

But they couldn't find anyone.

She was wondering whether she should go back by herself. She had just reached the door and was hesitating about whether she should leave.

Suddenly, a shrill scream came from not far away. The voice was filled with tearing pain and seemed to contain a faint plea for mercy, which made Yan Shu stop in her tracks.

She frowned slightly and looked around, but saw no one else. However, she could sense the voice approaching her direction.

She hesitated for a moment, tightened the cloak draped over her shoulders, disappeared into the shadows, and peered out.

As the sound became clearer, she finally saw the source of the sound—the thin boy from before was being brutally punched and kicked by an older male.

The older male sneered, hurling insults at her incessantly, his voice low and husky: "Today is your last day in this beauty quarter. No female will want a piece of trash like you! Just wait, tomorrow morning we'll sell you off to the Desolate Cave!"

The boy struggled on the ground, his hands weakly protecting his head, his whole body trembling slightly from the pain. His tattered clothes were covered in dust and bloodstains, making him look extremely disheveled.

Upon hearing the older male's words, despair and fear welled up in the boy's eyes. He seemed particularly terrified of the words "dead end," but he was powerless to resist and could only endure it all on the ground.

Yan Shu had been silently watching this scene, not wanting to meddle or cause unnecessary trouble because of her momentary kindness.

But when she saw the boy beaten and bruised, curled up on the ground, unable to even struggle, a pang of pity swept through her heart. She frowned and sighed softly.

She stepped forward and coldly snapped, "Stop! Do you want to kill him?"

Upon hearing the rebuke, the older male abruptly stopped what he was doing and turned around to see a female looking at him.

The male's expression changed instantly, replaced by a fawning smile. He withdrew his fist, lowered his head humbly, and bowed repeatedly, his tone filled with humility: "My lady, what brings you here?"

You don't know this, but this kid is useless, unlikable, and utterly worthless. Teaching him a lesson is for his own good..."

"Who says he's not likable? I like him quite a bit, so I'll have him come and serve me."

Upon hearing this, the older male's face immediately froze.

He glanced sheepishly at the boy on the ground, still forcing a smile, his tone slightly tentative: "My lady, you're really giving him too much credit. This boy is useless, clumsy, and doesn't know the rules. I'm afraid he won't be able to serve you well..."

Yan Shu glanced at him coldly, her voice carrying an undeniable chill: "Do I need you to teach me? I like what I like. Or are you saying you don't want to hand him over?"

Upon hearing this, the older male trembled and quickly lowered his head, adopting a respectful demeanor: "No, no, if the female likes it, it's naturally because you have good taste. How could I dare to say anything more?"

He quickly kicked the boy and muttered, "Get over there and serve the adults properly!"

The boy endured the pain, struggled to get up from the ground, timidly walked to Yan Shu, lowered his head, and said in a weak voice, "Thank you for your kindness, Madam."

His voice trembled slightly, and his eyes showed gratitude, as if he could hardly believe that he had received such mercy.

Yan Shu glanced at him indifferently, nodded slightly, turned around and walked forward, saying calmly, "Follow me."

The boy was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly followed.

Yan Shu regretted it after saving the person. She wanted to leave and go back, but now she had gotten herself into some trouble.

But I felt a little reluctant to stop her from saving people...

I guess I was a bit too much of a saint after all.

She looked down at the boy in front of her and found him to be extremely thin, as if he could be blown away by a gust of wind.

His clothes were tattered, his face was pale, and he seemed to have no strength at all. His eyes were slightly lowered, revealing a hint of timidity and helplessness.
