Rebirth in Another World: The Ultimate Legend

Chapter 49 Night Raid on the Warehouse

Old Wang and Lin Feng followed the shift change team, appearing calm but actually feeling uneasy, and successfully arrived at the warehouse entrance. The guard at the entrance yawned, sleepy-eyed, and casually sized them up.

"Why are you taking so long?" the guard grumbled, his face full of impatience.

Old Wang said with a forced smile, "Something came up on the way and I was delayed. Please don't mind, brother." Behind his smile was a wildly beating heart, and his palms were already sweaty.

Lin Feng kept his head down, trying his best to prevent the guards from seeing his face. Just then, one of the guards suddenly said, "I've never seen you before?"

Old Wang's heart tightened, as if he had been struck by a heavy hammer, but he remained calm on the surface, forcing a relaxed demeanor: "Brothers, we're new here, we were just assigned here." As he spoke, he observed the guard's expression, secretly praying that he wouldn't be seen through.

The guard frowned, his eyes filled with suspicion, preparing to question him further. Sensing the danger, Lin Feng steeled his resolve and, catching the guard off guard, struck suddenly. With lightning speed, he covered the guard's mouth, simultaneously plunging his sharp dagger into his heart. In that instant, Lin Feng's heart seemed to stop, his breath caught in his throat, and only one thought remained—he had to succeed.

Old Wang was not to be outdone, instantly unleashing tremendous power. He gripped his broadsword tightly with both hands, and with a fierce swing, the blade flashed, and the other guard didn't even have time to react before his head fell to the ground. Blood splattered everywhere, and warm drops of blood splashed onto Old Wang's face, but he had no time to care at that moment.

However, their movements still attracted the attention of the guards on the watchtower. "What's going on?" the guards on the watchtower shouted, their voices filled with panic and vigilance.

Seeing this from the rooftop, Zhao Ling'er drew an arrow without hesitation and nocked it. Her gaze was firm and calm as she aimed, pulled the bowstring taut, and released it. The arrow whistled through the air, striking the guard on the watchtower in the throat. But this also revealed her position, and guards on other watchtowers began firing arrows in her direction.

Zhao Ling'er was startled, but quickly calmed down and kept changing positions to dodge the rain of arrows.

Hearing the commotion from behind the warehouse, Lin Yu knew the operation had begun. Without hesitation, he drew his longsword and charged towards the warehouse entrance like a whirlwind. At that moment, the guards inside, hearing the commotion outside, rushed out armed themselves.

"Enemy!" the guards shouted, their voices filled with fear and anger.

Lin Yu, Lao Wang, and Lin Feng were instantly surrounded. But they were fearless. Lin Yu brandished his longsword, the blade flashing, each strike carrying a sharp, aggressive force. He had only one belief: to break through the encirclement! The sword seemed to come alive in his hand, moving nimbly and instantly slaying several enemies. Blood stained his clothes, but his eyes grew even more resolute.

Old Wang's broadsword whistled through the air, the heavy blade moving like a nimble willow branch in his hands. Each swing created a whooshing sound, and enemies fell wherever it went. He roared, "Come on, you villains!" His rage erupted completely at that moment.

Lin Feng, with his agile movements, weaved among the enemies. The dagger in his hand, like the fangs of a venomous snake, repeatedly struck the vital points of his foes. His heart pounded, but his mind remained exceptionally clear as he searched for the enemy's weaknesses.

Hearing the sounds of fierce fighting in the alley, Xiao Jinzhi was extremely anxious. She knew she had to find a way to draw away some of the enemies and relieve the pressure on Lin Yu and his group. So, she deliberately made noise in the alley to attract the attention of some of the enemies.

"There's movement here too!" A group of enemies chased after Xiao Jinzhi. As Xiao Jinzhi ran, she tried to figure out how to escape the enemy.

Zhao Ling'er kept shooting arrows from the rooftop, providing cover for Lin Yu and the others. But as the number of enemies increased, her arrows gradually ran out.

"Ling'er, retreat quickly!" Lin Yu shouted loudly.

Zhao Ling'er gritted her teeth, a resolute glint in her eyes, and jumped off the roof, disappearing into the darkness.

Lin Yu and his companions fought valiantly against the enemy's onslaught, but the enemy kept pouring in. Lin Yu felt his arms growing heavier and his breathing becoming rapid. Just as they were starting to feel their strength waning, Lin Yu suddenly spotted a side door in the warehouse.

"Follow me!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice filled with urgency and hope.

He led Lao Wang and Lin Feng towards the side door.

They rushed through the side door and found it filled with all sorts of supplies. Lin Yu quickly pulled out a tinderbox from his pocket and lit a fire. The fire instantly spread, engulfing everything around them.

"Oh no, the warehouse is on fire!" The enemy panicked and fled in all directions.

Taking advantage of the enemy's confusion, Lin Yu and his group escaped through another exit of the warehouse. But at this moment, the entire Nightfall City was alerted, and reinforcements from the Black Wolf Gang kept arriving.

"We can't let them get away!" The enemy was hot on their heels, shouting as they pursued them.

Lin Yu and his companions ran desperately through the night, weaving through narrow alleyways. Lin Yu's heart was filled with tension and worry, but even more so with determination.

"This way!" Little Jinzhi suddenly appeared, pointing them to a hidden path.

Led by Xiao Jinzhi, the group finally escaped the enemy's pursuit. They hid in an abandoned house, panting heavily.

"This was really close," Lin Feng said, his voice trembling slightly.

Looking at his wounds, Old Wang said, "But we successfully burned down their warehouse, which is a heavy blow to the Black Wolf Gang." A hint of pride appeared on his face.

Lin Yu nodded: "But this is only the first step. Next, we need to prepare to deal with the Black Wolf Gang's crazy retaliation." There was no sign of backing down in his eyes.

Zhao Ling'er said, "No matter what, we won't be afraid of them." Her eyes were full of courage.

A determined light shone in Xiao Jinzhi's eyes: "Yes, we must make Ouyang Kuishan pay the price."
