Moonlight falls into my arms

The person who had been staring out the window suddenly turned to look at him, smiling broadly: "Come on, let's go out and watch the fireworks."

She casually grabbed Jiang Yuci's hand and ran towards the door.

Jiang Yuci was led into the elevator by a soft hand and went up to the rooftop.

"Wow!"

The view was magnified, and in the darkness, one side was filled with the lights shining from the tall buildings, while the other side was filled with dazzling fireworks blooming in the long night.

Ruan Li glanced at the person next to her.

At that moment, his eyelids drooped, and he was looking directly into her eyes.

Snowflakes settled on his hair, making his skin appear even paler and colder.

Ruan Li's pupils were shining as she looked up and stared intently at him. "I know what you mean by giving me your ID card."

Jiang Yuci turned her gaze and curled her fingers slightly.

The two seemed frozen in a single frame of a movie; apart from the falling snow, neither of them moved.

The fireworks gradually began to fade away.

The sound grew fainter and fainter as the last cluster of fireworks exploded.

Ruan Li finally clenched her fist and took a step closer to Jiang Yuci.

The wisps of hair on his forehead swayed in the wind and snow, partially obscuring his handsome, deep eyes.

A cold snowflake landed on the tip of her nose, cool to the touch. She dared not move, dared not brush it away with her hand.

"I have no plans to date." Jiang Yuci's voice was low as he looked down at Ruan Li's slender, pale neck, which was turning purple from the cold night.

In the cold, quiet night, the two looked at each other through the darkness, as if trying to see through each other's hearts.

Ruan Li parted her lips slightly, trembling twice, her throat feeling dry.

Ruan Li stood quietly in place, her hands hanging at her sides and her eyes lowered.

The bubbles that had risen after the fireworks burst instantly, and she lost her courage, giving up.

Jiang Yuci didn't bring up going back again, and just stood there with her.

A cold wind blew by, and Ruan Li smiled, hugged her arms, and said in a seemingly relaxed manner, "It's so cold, let's go back."

His voice, however, had a slight choking tone.

After Ruan Li finished speaking, she turned and walked towards the entrance.

Tears rolled down her cheeks, but she continued walking forward without paying attention until she was out of Jiang Yuci's sight, at which point she raised her hand to wipe them away.

Jiang Yuci stood there for a while when his phone vibrated.

His eyelashes fluttered, and he raised his frozen hand to look.

Ruan Li:

Thank you for your ID card. I'm staying at a hotel for now, and I'll leave my things at your place until I find a place to move in.

His long, slender fingers were stiff and he was typing in a slightly hurried manner.

Looking at the words in the input box on his phone, his chest rose and fell slightly. He lowered his long eyelashes and pressed a few keys to delete the sentence he had typed but hadn't sent.

Okay, I'll arrange a hotel for you.

Jiang Yuci stiffly curled her fingers to turn off her phone, then tilted her head back and closed her eyes.

Jiang Yuci put the origami cranes in her hand aside and looked up.

Jiang Yan walked in, a smile playing on her lips. "You clearly went home yesterday, so why didn't you attend my birthday party and left right after it started? Were you too scared?"

Dr. Li stepped forward, shoving Jiang Yanhui aside, and glanced at him as she turned her head. "Little Dr. Jiang, how could you barge into your senior's room like that? Go downstairs, you'll be busy today."

Jiang Yan was pushed out by him.

Dr. Li closed the door. "Quick, I'm going to do my rounds right away. What happened? I haven't seen that little girl in ages. I even bought some of the new yogurt. Has her family taken her away?"

Dr. Li poured himself a yogurt drink and said, "So you finally realize that letting you take care of the child won't work?"

“She probably won’t come again.” Jiang Yuci lowered her eyes and turned her gaze to the crooked origami crane beside her.

"Sigh, what a pity, you're going to go back to being that boring person you used to be." Dr. Li finished his yogurt in one gulp and threw it into the trash can next to him.

"Whether she's with me or not, it's all the same to me."

Dr. Li patted his shoulder, "With her around, you're more humane."

Jiang Yuci shrugged. "Aren't you going to check the rooms?"

"Oh, by the way, did you see the fireworks last night? My goodness, the spectacle was incredible! I wonder which high-ranking official's birthday celebration it was. I heard that the entire Jingyun Mountain, where land is incredibly valuable, was booked out."

Dr. Li then asked, "Hey, why don't you celebrate your birthday every year? I invited you to dinner yesterday, but you wouldn't come. Although we can't afford to book a whole venue at Jingyun Mountain for you, we can still afford to treat you to a big meal."

Jiang Yuci lowered her eyes, her gaze sweeping over the documents thrown into the trash can, and shook her head: "Nothing good is going to happen."
