Moonlight falls into my arms

Chapter 101 The Rumors of the Past

After leaving Jinyue, the two ran into Jiang Yanhui again.

"I have something to tell you." Jiang Yan turned to look at Jiang Yuci.

After saying that, he turned to look at Ruan Li.

Ruan Li hesitated whether to make room for the two of them, but Jiang Yuci gripped her hand tighter, saying, "I don't have time."

As she pulled Ruan Li to leave, Jiang Yan turned around and asked sharply, "Even if you're together now, what about the future? Are you planning to never come home again?"

Ruan Li thought Jiang Yuci would stop and say something, but she didn't expect him to pull her directly into the car.

"Why did that rumor you mentioned start?" Ruan Li asked, mentioning Jiang Yanhui. "Did he spread the rumor?"

"I don't know, and those things don't matter anymore."

When Jiang Yuci talks about his family, his tone always turns a bit cold.

Ruan Li didn't want to bring up those things that made him unhappy. "Oh right, I can't have dinner with you tomorrow. Xiao Lan and Luo Luo invited me to dinner. They're starting school soon, so we're planning to have a meal together and then play for another day."

Jiang Yuci: "Okay, send me a message when the time comes."

"No need, I'll just take a taxi back myself." When Ruan Li mentioned taking a taxi, she remembered something else: "Do you think I should get a driver's license? But I feel like I rarely need to drive myself."

Ruan Li goes out occasionally, but spends the rest of her time painting at home. She doesn't go far, and it's quite convenient to take the subway or a taxi.

“Although you don’t need to drive yourself now, it’s good to have an extra skill.” Jiang Yuci glanced at her: “If you want to take the test, I can recommend someone for you.”

"Sigh, things will get busy once they all start school." Ruan Li's shoulders and neck were slumped, and she looked listless. "Is there anything else I can do besides drawing?"

This means they are still hesitating.

Jiang Yuci hesitated for a few moments before asking her, "Ruan Li, I know very little about you, and I don't know if I can ask you."

Ruan Li laughed: "What's wrong with asking? Ask away, I'll tell you anything you ask."

"Do you not remember your past? Or are you an orphan?"

Jiang Yuci originally intended to ask about these matters more clearly after some time had passed.

The car drove slowly.

Ruan Li sat to the side, sighing but unable to speak.

How could she tell Jiang Yuci that she had never had any chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) issues and that everything she told them was true?

But they didn't believe it.

Ruan Li has given up trying to convince others that she came ten years ago.

"I was just studying hard, but suddenly one day, I couldn't find my parents, and I didn't have an identity."

"Were you raised by your grandparents when you were little?" Jiang Yuci knew that in some remote areas, children were raised by their grandparents and might not see their parents even once a year.

When I first met Ruan Li, she was unfamiliar with many technological products, and didn't even know how to use a water heater.

At that time, Jiang Yuci thought that she was trained by her family to deceive him.

Now it seems she really didn't know how to use it.

Ruan Li turned her eyes around: "Yeah, right."

"How old were you when they abandoned you?"

Ruan Li looked up at him and realized that Jiang Yuci had obviously misunderstood.

She replied in agreement, "I wouldn't say they abandoned me. Although I don't know where they are now, I know them, and they wouldn't abandon me."

"You were too young to know what adults were really thinking. Some parents don't actually treat their children the way they seem."

Jiang Yuci felt that her malicious speculations were too heavy a burden for Ruan Li, so she quickly changed the subject, "You really want to find them now?"

Ruan Li's eyes lit up: "Of course I want to, but I don't have any contact information."

“I’ll help you,” Jiang Yu said.

Jiang Yuci sent Ruan Li home.

Ruan Li's door lock has been changed to a combination lock, which Jiang Yuci specially had someone come to change, and it's the same as the one at Jiang Yuci's house.

"Why don't you come in first?" Ruan Li asked him.

Jiang Yuci followed her inside.

As soon as he entered, he grabbed the cleaning tools that Ruan Li had casually placed in the corner. "How many days has it been since you swept the floor?"

Ruan Li looked at the floor where she had only a few hairs: "It's only been four days, so it's pretty clean."

Jiang Yuci glanced from the corner to the doorway and asked, "Ruan Li, how old are you exactly?"

Ruan Li didn't know why Jiang Yuci suddenly asked about her age, but she still obediently answered, "I'm eighteen. My birthday is in two months."

"Really?" Jiang Yuci really wanted to trust Ruan Li.

But the looks they gave clearly conveyed one thing: disbelief.

"Really?" Ruan Li sat on the sofa, clutching a bag of potato chips. "Don't I look like I'm eighteen?"

Jiang Yuci carefully scanned her eyebrows and eyes. Many of Ruan Li's temper and habits had a childlike quality.

But Jiang Yuci may subconsciously still not want to believe that Ruan Li is only eighteen years old this year.

"Too small. I don't know if you're telling the truth or not."

Ruan Li lay down and stared blankly at the ceiling: "Yes, I have nothing to offer, I have nothing at all."

It's actually quite normal to be suspected.

Ruan Li suddenly jumped up: "So, you've never believed my age or my experiences? The ID card you gave me shows I'm twenty years old."

"I asked my family to help me with that; the age was probably just randomly chosen."

“Ruan Li, if you really can’t find your family, you can actually get a new ID card even if you don’t have one, as long as you have proof.”

Ruan Li sighed, "I just don't have any proof."

Jiang Yuci swept the floor to one side, then noticed that Ruan Li's table was too messy, so she went to tidy up the coffee table as well. "Can someone vouch for you?"

Ruan Li stood up from the sofa, bent down and leaned on the coffee table to look at Jiang Yuci: "I'm not lying to you, really, no one remembers me."

"Hmm..." Jiang Yuci replied to Ruan Li, "It's okay, since it's all in the past, let's not think about it anymore."

Anyway, he doesn't care about those things.

In the end, he actually had nothing.

Ruan Li has no parents, and his parents are practically deceased, or even worse off than nonexistent.

It seems that all the suffering I've endured since childhood stems from the concept of filial piety towards my parents.

A message popped up in the property management group on Ruan Li's phone.

She picked up her phone and glanced at it. "There will be a power outage tonight, it won't be back until tomorrow."

Ruan Li muttered, "Luckily it's not as cold as before. Oh wait, I need to hurry up and charge my phone."

Just as she was thinking this, Ruan Li's phone sent her another message.

"Ah!" Ruan Li jumped up.

Jiang Yuci was stunned.

"I completely forgot about the client. Her deadline is today! If she hadn't reminded me, I would have forgotten about it all day."

"Then what do you do now?"

Ruan Li was already carrying her drawing board and packing her cat carrier. "Let's go back to your house and borrow some electricity."
