Jinling.

A remote village to the south.

A woman was running wildly down a hillside, her clothes billowing in the air.

Behind her, a man was following closely.

Qu Shiqing bent over slightly, placed his hands on his knees, and breathed heavily.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, which made me feel a little better.

He stretched out a hand and waved to the people in front of him, "Don't run, don't run, I can't catch up."

As soon as he finished speaking, the woman in front of him turned around abruptly, put her hands behind her back, and backed away step by step.

"Get up and continue! This is just the beginning. For us healers, our vital energy is the most important thing."

Her eyes crinkled as she smiled at Qu Shiqing, "Tell me, whose medical skills are better, yours or mine?"

As soon as Qu Shiqing raised her hand, the person in front of her grasped it tightly and pulled her close to him with a slight effort.

The two walked side by side.

Immediately afterwards, the two slowed their pace.

Tu Ling walked slowly, her head bowed, gently kicking the pebbles under her feet. "Your breathing is so weak, how did you treat the patients before?"

Tu Ling tilted her head slightly, turned to the side, and asked Qu Shiqing, word by word.

In her eyes, it seemed as if a thousand stars were constantly twinkling.

Qu Shiqing shrugged. "There are treatments for those with stable breathing, and there are also treatments for those with unstable breathing."

The two looked ahead at the same time, taking in the unobstructed view of the scenery below.

Qu Shiqing paused for a moment, then tentatively asked, "What have you thought about what I told you before?"

Tu Ling's smile gradually faded.

She slowly stood up, her expression complicated. "There's something I've wanted to ask you for a long time. Do you also think that I've done too many bad things in the past and don't deserve anything good?"

She hesitated for a moment, but still voiced her thought, "Including you."

Qu Shiqing shook his head and quickly stood up. "Why are you suddenly bringing this up again? I won't comment on what happened before, but you already know that it was wrong and you won't do it again. Besides, you genuinely want to change things and have already taken action."

He continued earnestly, "How many people in this world know they're wrong, but only talk about it? You're already doing very well, and you can't keep letting what happened before hold you back, can you?"

Tu Ling turned her head to the side. "No, you don't understand. If I had the chance, I would still like to apologize to them in person, but I'm afraid we won't have the chance to meet again."

Qu Shiqing slightly raised his eyes, his gaze fixed on the figure in front of him.

He met Tu Ling as soon as he arrived in Shengjing.

He initially only wanted to save people, but as they spent more time together, he realized that this woman was the strangest person he had ever met.

Although she did do some wrong things before, she is not a bad person at heart.

For the past two years, they had been staying in Shengjing until recently, when they finally set off for Jinling.

His greatest goal in life was to travel the world and, incidentally, heal the sick and save lives.

Qu Shiqing's lips curled up slightly as he walked slowly behind Tu Ling, gently patted her shoulder, and said softly, "You don't need to blame yourself anymore, and you don't need to be sad about it anymore. As long as you continue to treat the poor with me, isn't that a kind of apology?"

Tu Ling looked slightly puzzled and blurted out, "Atony?"

Seeing that the other party had taken his words to heart, Qu Shiqing quickly nodded, "Yes, think about those who have no money to see a doctor, all that awaits them is death. As the saying goes, saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. How many lives have we saved and how many pagodas have we built along the way?"

Tu Ling bit her lip lightly, her head lowered in deep thought.

He seemed to be considering how much of what the other person said could be believed.

While Tu Ling was deep in thought, Qu Shiqing waited patiently by her side.

There was no hint of urging them.

After an unknown amount of time, Tu Ling slowly raised her head and stared intently at the person in front of her.

If you look closely, you'll see a hint of something unreadable in his eyes.

"Alright, since you've put it that way, it would be too pretentious for me to bring up what happened before again."

After saying that, she strode towards the village.

Seeing this, Qu Shiqing followed suit.

“That’s right. Most of the people in this village have recovered. We just need to leave the prescriptions for them and tell them to take their medicine on time. They can leave soon.”

During their journey from Shengjing to Jinling, he and Tu Ling had treated countless people.

Among them were people with minor injuries who, due to delayed treatment, endangered their lives.

Coincidentally, the two of them were remarkably alike in their approach to treating and saving lives.

Many diseases may look scary, but they are actually quite simple to treat.

As soon as the two returned to the village, they saw a large group of villagers standing in front of them.

These people were all saved by them.

Qu Shiqing and Tu Ling exchanged a glance. Just as they were about to speak, they saw that everyone in front of them knelt down in unison and bowed to Qu Shiqing and Tu Ling.

The two men were startled and stepped forward to help the nearest person up. "What are you doing? Get up quickly."

To everyone's surprise, they didn't manage to pull the person up.

Those people, however, became even more sincere, saying, "We are able to live like this today thanks to the two of you who came to our village."

Immediately afterwards, everyone stuffed whatever they were holding into Qu Shiqing and Tu Ling's arms.

Regardless of whether they could carry it or not, once they couldn't take it from their arms, they put it on the ground.

These items consisted of some copper coins and some crops that they had grown themselves.

Tu Ling quickly waved her hand, "We don't want these copper coins. It was agreed from the beginning that the treatment would be free. Now that the treatment is complete, you're asking for money again. What kind of logic is this?"

With one hand on her hip, she announced loudly, "Everyone, please put your things away."

However, no matter what they said, the villagers stubbornly insisted on handing over the items to them.

Left with no other choice, the two had to tell a lie.

Tu Ling cleared her throat. "We'll all be at the village chief's house today. Everyone, take your things there."

As night fell, the two quietly left the village under cover of darkness.

Besides here, there are many other places that need them.

There are countless people in this world who cannot afford medical treatment.

They cannot stay in one place forever.

They had already found out that there was a town twenty miles away that had been afflicted by the plague.

The local magistrate is actively recruiting highly skilled doctors to provide assistance.

The timing is perfect for them to go there now.

The moonlight is getting darker.

The pale moonlight spilled onto the ground, casting increasingly longer shadows of the two people walking in the night…
