Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 92 The Crossroads (Part 1)

"Hey, Naya! You brat, I'll call your sister over here to teach you a lesson!" Nathaniel's furious voice came from behind, panting heavily. Naya turned around and made a face: "Hehehe, go ahead and call her, she can't catch me—" With that, she quickened her pace, quickly leaving Nathaniel behind.

The weather was perfect today—sunny and breezy. How could she stay indoors studying those dry, boring theories about humanity on such a day? Naya wasn't having any of it; she'd rather come out for some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of nature. Besides, she'd never seen a real human before—seven years had passed since she was born, and perhaps she'd never have the chance in her life.

Naya ran like a cheerful little deer, wearing arm guards and a short skirt made of animal hide, decorated with brown leather belts with deer-tribe characteristics, making her look very lively and cute.

"Naya, what are you doing here? Is get out of class over?" A deer warrior stopped what he was doing and looked at the girl in front of him curiously. Naya smiled and nodded. Her gaze swept around and then settled on the training ground paved with white stone slabs. At that moment, a group of soldiers in armor, holding spears and shields, were training diligently. They marched in neat steps, shouted slogans, and cooperated perfectly with each other.

The clanging and clashing of metal filled the air, the sound of metal striking metal seeming to tear the space apart. The warriors' swords clashed, each strike sending up dazzling sparks, as brilliant as the twinkling stars in the night sky. Their steps were steady and powerful, their boots leaving deep imprints on the hard ground, kicking up layers of debris.

The two sides faced off closely, circling each other, constantly on guard, searching for weaknesses and openings in each other's defenses, trying to find an opportunity to break through.

However, less than twenty feet away, a woman surrounded by a crowd emerged from the throng. Naya immediately recognized her as Yeman'er. She was one of the Templar Knights chosen a few years ago, having received the Deer God's inheritance, even surpassing her sister by a level. Yeman'er intently observed the intense battle scene before her, as if pondering something.

At this moment, she is overseeing this orderly yet chaotic battlefield, ensuring that everything is under control.

All the soldiers on the training ground, regardless of gender, were in their prime. Their movements were swift and powerful, each swing of their swords carrying unparalleled momentum, infusing their innate strength into every move. Despite their ferocious attacks, not a single drop of blood spilled onto the grass, and not a single person was injured.

They had sparred countless times, knowing each other's strengths and weaknesses intimately. Their teamwork was seamless, and even in a full-blown battle, they could precisely control their strength to avoid inflicting permanent damage. This accumulation of skill and experience is what truly deserves to be learned.

She fought side by side with her brothers and sisters, invincible on the battlefield. Only when she could master combat skills as skillfully as they did could she be considered truly grown up, becoming an independent, strong, and brave woman, a true member of the Deer Clan, no longer needing to sit in a classroom and obediently attend classes.

Naya was captivated. Before she knew it, she too had begun to imitate them. Clenching her little fists, she punched and kicked along with them, her movements clumsy but full of enthusiasm. Her face flushed with excitement, she breathed heavily, and beads of sweat glistened on her forehead.

"Isn't that Na Ling's sister? How did she sneak out here?" A whisper came from the side. Na Ya was startled when she heard the voice and stopped what she was doing, silently praying that she wouldn't be driven away like this.

Just as the guard was about to step forward to remind Naya, Yeman stopped him and said softly, "Let her continue, there's no need to disturb her." The guard looked at Yeman in confusion, then at Naya, and finally stepped aside.

Yeman watched Naya's actions with admiration in his eyes.

“You should be glad that our next generation hasn’t lost that fighting spirit and grit in their bones.” Her tone carried a faint sigh. “Right now, the tribe is promoting the methods used by humans outside, with theoretical learning taking up the majority of the time, while practical training that requires skills and physical strength is becoming increasingly rare.”

A look of worry flashed in her eyes, as if she was not satisfied with the current situation.

Not long after, a familiar figure suddenly appeared on the training field, rushing to the sidelines and grabbing Naya aggressively. The little girl was clearly stunned by this sudden situation.

"What did you just say? Who can't catch you?" The voice was full of anger and dissatisfaction.

Naya inwardly groaned, thinking how stingy Nathaniel was to actually bring her own sister. She quickly tried to put on an innocent, pitiful expression, attempting to explain, "Sis! It's really not what you think! I didn't skip class..."

However, Naling wouldn't listen to her explanations and held onto Naya tightly. Helpless, Naya could only turn to Yemaner and cast a pleading look in her eyes.

Ye Man'er was both amused and exasperated, so she stepped forward and explained to Naya, "Na Ling, let's just say she's here to observe and learn from me today."

“Senior, your defense of her will only embolden her.” Na Ling gently released Na Ya, whose eyes gleamed with expectation. She believed Ye Man’er would back her up; after all, this elite deer had witnessed her perfectly mimicking various combat moves. Na Ya even suspected that if she were placed in the reserve team, she might outperform most of them.

“She’s very talented, and didn’t you secretly have her participate in the reserve team training?” Ye Man’er raised her eyes, met Na Ling’s gaze, and spoke calmly.

Naling fell into a brief silence. She knew it was true, but she had always been unwilling to admit it. She sighed inwardly, thinking: Perhaps, I really should give Naya a chance.

"Why don't you send her to me when you have time in the future? I can teach her some basic moves," Ye Man'er continued, a faint smile appearing on her face.

“That’s wonderful!” Naya exclaimed with delight, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Well said, Yeman.”

However, Naling didn't immediately respond, but silently observed the two of them. A hush fell over the room. Naya felt uneasy, unsure whether Naling agreed with Yeman'er's suggestion. But she knew her sister was always thoughtful and calculating. Therefore, silence didn't necessarily mean "no."

“Then I’ll have to trouble you, senior.” Na Ling’s reply surprised Na Ya.

Naya turned to look at Yeman. She saw Yeman nod quickly and confidently at her, as if making a silent promise.

Fortunately, the flame of hope was not extinguished.

......

At night, the river gently laps against the banks, fireflies twinkle in the woods, and owls hoot softly in the darkness.

Sharp felt the noise gradually subside until it disappeared completely. Then the feeling returned. Correspondingly, the surrounding environment changed; the tent was gone, the forest was gone, leaving only a sky like a fiery sunset and a vast, seemingly endless pool of shallow water on the ground. Sharp felt something wet beneath him.

"Is it dawn?" he asked himself, opening his eyes.

Should I say that I never expected you to last this long?

Sharp would never forget that annoying sound, no matter how many times he heard it. Sure enough, in the shallow water, short-haired Sharp stood there straight.

"Or are you saying you have no plans to go back?"

He took a few steps forward, and the mirror-like surface of the water immediately rippled.

"Say what you will, help me or not, we're all going to die in the end, aren't we?" Sharp sat up without looking at him.

"Giving up on yourself won't do you any good here." Short-haired Sharp frowned, adopting a lecturing tone once again.

"So what? I've done everything I could. I don't even know why I'm here," Sharp replied calmly. "It seems you don't want to tell me much about the situation here either. I'm just your test subject for this world."

“No…at least, not entirely.” He paused. “Then do you know why we always meet here?”

Sharp shook his head, indicating that he did not understand.

Short-haired Sharp walked over to Sharp and explained softly, "This is a boundary." Then, he sat down next to Sharp and continued, "This is my world, and that is your world. The place where the two worlds meet is right here. This place has no concept of time, and no specific location, but anyone can appear here."

"A cross-server chat room?" Sharp replied.

Short-haired Sharp smiled and replied, "A very vivid understanding."

“But I didn’t call you here today to chat.” With that, he pushed forward, and a door tore through the air, appearing right in front of the two of them.

Sharp stared in surprise at the door before him, and through the open doorway, he saw two familiar faces.

The two most important people in their lives.

"Sister?" Sharp's legs went weak, and he called out in a trembling voice.

Xia Jie was standing in the living room when she heard Sharp's voice and immediately turned around. The brown-haired girl who was talking to her left Sharp speechless.

Naya, dressed casually and holding a steaming glass, trembled the moment she saw Sharp.

“Sharp…” Naya pursed her lips and softly called his name.
