Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy
Chapter 142 The Last Star (Part 2)
"The terrain inside the Deer Cave is intricate and complex. If it's your first time here, you might get trapped inside."
"It's okay, just think of it as a rare opportunity to go home for the New Year."
Perhaps because a meeting was being held in the abyss, the number of guards at the Deer Cave was significantly reduced compared to usual. Combined with the advantages afforded by Yeman'er's special authority, Naling was able to quickly penetrate the dark dungeon.
Countless cells were arranged in a row deep within the cave. Looking up, the huge ceiling hanging high above their heads cast moonlight. It was not only the only passage connecting this dungeon to the outside world, but also the only source of light in this space.
"Disguise yourself well, don't let the guards here discover your true identity," Ye Man'er instructed Na Ling, and carefully helped her adjust the scarf wrapped around her face.
Watching Ye Man'er's focused movements, Na Ling couldn't help but recall scenes from past winters—whenever she was about to go out, her mother would always drape a scarf like this over her shoulders. However, the young and naive Na Ling often found the scarf too heavy and cumbersome, so she would secretly take it off when her mother wasn't looking.
Taking advantage of the precious moment when there were no other people in the corridor to disturb them, Na Ling made her suggestion with great anticipation:
“Senior, if you’d like, you can leave with me. The outside world isn’t as bad as you think. As long as you remove the deer markings from your face, no one will suspect anything.”
“You don’t need to worry about that—I’m not at the point of enjoying retirement yet.” Ye Man’er had long anticipated that her foolish apprentice would pull this tactic. She patted Na Ling’s shoulder and said.
“But this will eventually come to light, and I’ve already dragged you down with me…” Na Ling grabbed Ye Man’er’s hand, trying to express her determination. But the latter deliberately pulled her hand away.
"When you leave, take my conch shell with you. That will be enough for you, Ling." Ye Man'er looked at her meaningfully, as if saying a final goodbye.
"Next time we meet, don't hold back... and don't blame me for turning my back on you."
Ye Man'er's unyielding demeanor left Na Ling with no choice but to comply with her orders.
"Go quickly."
"Take care, senior."
Naling wrapped her outer cloak tighter and ran towards Sharp's cell.
......
The chaotic footsteps echoed through the labyrinthine passageways as groups of prison guards poured in through the main gate, searching purposefully for something.
Had she been exposed? Na Ling didn't dare to stop for a moment, constantly passing through one gate after another blocking the corridor.
Just as she was about to reach Sharp's cell through the final door, the entire Deer Den's security system suddenly activated. The gate, already narrow enough for only one person to squeeze through sideways, slammed shut in an instant. This sudden turn of events caught Naling completely off guard. She quickly stopped, but still nearly crashed into the door.
"Damn it!" Na Ling cursed angrily, kicking the door as she went. But her futile outburst had no effect; the sturdy door remained unmoved. The increasingly clear footsteps behind her urged her on, so Na Ling had no choice but to turn and run in another direction.
"I see her! Over here!" The guard spotted the unfamiliar figure and shouted as he led the others to charge aggressively toward Na Ling.
Fortunately, they were carrying short sticks instead of bows and arrows, so Naling's idea of drawing a gun from behind was suppressed.
After sprinting a short distance, Na Ling used the leading guard as a bowling ball to send him flying. A series of dull thuds followed, and the guards behind him fell to the ground.
Without stopping, she stepped over the bodies of the guards who had not yet risen, leaped into the air, and continued rushing forward.
"Fool, please don't die! If you die, how am I supposed to explain it to my sister?"
Soon, she arrived at the other side of the cell. But the scene before her puzzled her. The gate, which should have been tightly closed, was wide open, as if someone had entered through it not long ago.
Na Ling carefully removed her cloak and walked close to the wall. When she arrived at the iron bars, she thought it would take some effort to open the cage, but to her surprise, the bars opened without any resistance when she gave a gentle push.
A sense of foreboding washed over her. She stared intently inside; the room where Sharp should have been imprisoned was now empty and lifeless, without a single person in sight.
"Sharp?" Na Ling couldn't help but call out softly, but only silence answered her. Realizing something was wrong, Na Ling quickly took a few steps back and returned to the corridor. Just then, at the end of the corridor, which had been empty a moment ago, a tall, slender figure had silently appeared...
"It seems a rat has infiltrated the cell."
Upon hearing the sound, Na Ling instinctively drew her pistol and pointed it at the end of the corridor.
Serafina, who was standing there, clapped her hands, revealed a strange smile, and walked towards her with cat-like steps.
"What did you do to him?" Na Ling asked coldly.
“What can I do to him? I just chatted with him for a while.” As Serafina approached, she took out what she was holding: the necklace locator that Naling had asked Yeman to give to Sharp on her behalf.
Serafina threw it in front of Naling and stomped on it. A tall shadow then loomed over her.
“Unfortunately, you’re too late.” She raised her finger and pointed to the top of the cell. Before she finished speaking, a deafening explosion suddenly rang out, piercing through the entire Deer Cave and rolling towards the top of the Abyss Throne.
Upon hearing the loud noise, Na Ling dodged to the side and quickly hid to the side of the passageway.
Almost simultaneously, a dazzling matrix of light soared into the sky, leveling most of the Deer Cave. As the bricks and stones crumbled, a familiar figure shot out from the towering golden light.
The ceiling of the cell was blown apart, and large amounts of rubble and debris rained down. Na Ling stared intently at the sky, finally seeing the horrific scene before her. Sharp's greatsword—Blood Robe—was displaying its full power, the hilt open and the blade scorching hot.
On Sharp's body, Mavia's armor blazed fiercely, the metal glowing a deep red, almost melting, in the flames forged from flowing energy. Thick black mist swirled around his body, refusing to dissipate. His profile was covered in newly formed deer markings, transforming him into a completely different person.
Naling and Sharp locked eyes. She could sense the unfamiliarity in his gaze.
Those inside the Abyss Arena were also alarmed. The Templar Knights, still bewildered, exchanged bewildered glances. Only Mus looked up at Sharp in mid-air, a barely suppressed smile on his face.
......
Two hours ago.
Serafina finally finished dealing with the affairs at the venue. Without wasting a moment, she immediately went to the Deer Cave, where the "outsider" that Mus had mentioned was waiting.
Before long, the guards, as instructed, brought Sharp to Serafina. He was young and confident. Judging from his appearance alone, it was hard to imagine that he had such an extraordinary background. What surprised her most was that this young man possessed the power of Mavia.
Serafina saw a future.
The future of a deer clan.
"What's your name?" Serafina asked first.
Sharp remained silent and did not respond immediately.
Serafina smiled slightly and continued, "You don't need to hide anything anymore, child. Actually, we both have some unspeakable sorrows in our hearts. But please believe me, no matter what, I will accept you unconditionally." As she spoke, she reached out and stroked Sharp's head, her movements as gentle as a loving mother's.
"Let's forget for now how you got here. I don't care about the past. Now, all I care about is what you're doing right now... You've endured so much suffering in this world that has nothing to do with you. What is it all for?"
Sharp looked up; he had never met such a kind and approachable person in the world.
“You wouldn’t want to know,” he replied.
